Chapter 141 A Tacit Understanding

Gu Li, holding the plate, looked up to find Jiang Xu's location, but he realized that he didn't need to look for him. The moment he looked up, he knew where Jiang Xu was.

Gu Li and Jiang Xu looked at each other across the distance. The morning mist was blowing, but a smile suddenly appeared in his eyes. He walked around the people and headed towards his destination.

"I picked out some of my favorites, so don't say they're not good." Gu Li put down the plate and sat down next to Jiang Xu.

Jiang Xu moved his stool closer to Gu Li. "No way," he said, looking at the things Gu Li had chosen. "They all look great to me. Take this soy milk, for example. Look at it," Jiang Xu paused, "it looks so fragrant and sweet, just the right amount of sweetness."

Gu Li looked at the soy milk and then at Jiang Xu. "Although you've been very supportive, I haven't added sugar to this soy milk yet," he said with a smile, pointing to the counter.

Jiang Xu: "I think it's quite sweet even without it."

Gu Li, "Oh?" He nodded, "Then you should try it."

Jiang Xu took a spoonful of soy milk and tasted it, “........”

Gu Li propped his chin on his hand. "It seems it's not very sweet," he said, picking up a spoon. "I've never tasted it without sugar before, so it might taste different."

Gu Li tasted it, and after thinking for a moment, he said, "It is indeed quite fragrant and mellow."

Jiang Xu laughed, "You're very supportive, but let's add sugar." He then picked up his own cup in one hand and Gu Li's in the other, "Wait for me this time, I'll add it for you. Do you want it sweet or plain?"

Gu Li said, "Just do whatever you like."

Gu Li watched Jiang Xu's retreating figure, then looked back at the alleyway they had come from. Just then, a black sedan drove by, its cold light flashing.

He frowned. Ugh, so annoying.

Jiang Xu returned with two bowls of soy milk. "What are you looking at?"

Gu Li heard Jiang Xu's question and turned around with a calm expression. "Look at the way we came. How about you lead the way back?" He lowered his voice and leaned closer. "You little directionally challenged guy."

They leaned close together, and Gu Li's voice was right next to Jiang Xu's ear. He turned his head to look at Gu Li and said, "Ah."

Then something soft pressed against Gu Li's lips, and Jiang Xu said, "Open your mouth."

Gu Li opened her mouth, took a bite of the tea egg, chewed it, swallowed it, and reached for the remaining egg in Jiang Xu's hand. "Is this to shut me up?"

Jiang Xu dodged slightly. "How could I? Someone bought just one tea egg, I can't let him suffer a loss." After saying that, he looked at Gu Li and ate the remaining half of the egg in his hand.

Gu Li was taken aback by Jiang Xu's actions, and subconsciously glanced at the table. There really was only one egg, but this...

He thought about Jiang Xu's actions and realized that there was really nothing wrong with it. Sharing food with your partner is fine, it's nothing.

That's what he thought, but Gu Li still felt a little embarrassed by Jiang Xu's actions. He looked away first, picked up a spoon, and started drinking soy milk.

Jiang Xu smiled as he watched Gu Li's actions, and then asked after Gu Li had drunk the water, "Is it sweet?"

Gu Li shook her head, and Jiang Xu continued, "That's good. If you like it, then drink your bowl." He reached for another cup.

Gu Li coughed as soon as he saw Jiang Xu's actions, and Jiang Xu immediately put down his soy milk and patted his back to help him catch his breath.

Jiang Xu looked at the person next to him whose face had turned red from coughing. He knew he shouldn't have teased him. He clearly saw that the person had already swallowed before he spoke, so how did he still choke?

Gu Li calmed down a bit and noticed Jiang Xu frowning at him. "I'm fine," he waved his hand.

Gu Li noticed that Jiang Xu's brows were still furrowed, so he gently touched the center of Jiang Xu's brow with a wave of his hand. "Don't frown. What if you get wrinkles?"

Jiang Xu felt a cool sensation between his brows. He hadn't even realized he was frowning. He relaxed and smoothed his brow. "You're disgusted by the wrinkles?"

Gu Li raised an eyebrow. "Then I'll have to earn more money to find you some beauty and skincare products." He traced the shape of Jiang Xu's eyebrow. "Don't worry, I won't let you get wrinkles."

Jiang Xu said, "I thought you would say that we would get wrinkles together." He felt a slight itch at the end of his eyebrow.

Gu Li said, "Then you'll have to wait. I'm naturally beautiful, wrinkles are far away from me." He smiled smugly, "Or should I infect you?"

Jiang Xu asked, "How does it spread?" He took Gu Li's hand and held it.

Gu Li lowered his head and thought for a moment. "I'll tell you next time," he said, tilting his head and smiling. "I'll tell you when no one's around."

Jiang Xu said, "Okay," he gently stroked his wrist, "What if I'm also naturally beautiful?"

"Huh?" Gu Li feigned disappointment. "Really? Can't we wait until she's naturally beautiful?"

Jiang Xu almost burst out laughing, but he nodded and then shook his head, as if after deep thought, before speaking, "It doesn't seem like it's impossible," but then he looked at Gu Li, "but it also seems..."

Gu Li picked up a soft bun and put it to Jiang Xu's lips. "Here, try this, it's delicious."

Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li, smiled, opened his mouth, and took a bite. "So, can we wait or not?"

Gu Li said, "Of course I can," he also picked up a small steamed bun and stuffed it into his mouth, "It's... like this." His voice was muffled.

Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li's half-puffed-up cheek and immediately put his idea to the test, saying, "Eat slowly."

He thought Gu Li's face was really soft, as soft as this little bun, no, even softer than this little bun.

Gu Li felt Jiang Xu's fingers. He puffed out his cheeks and gently nudged Jiang Xu's fingertips. "It'll get cold if you're any slower. You eat too." He picked up some food for Jiang Xu.

Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li and said, "Okay." He felt that the morning mist had completely dissipated, and the person next to him was exceptionally clear.

He liked the distance between him and Gu Li now; they were close, and they could get even closer.

The aftereffects of their early rising became apparent when they sat in the classroom, yawning one after another.

The classroom was still empty, and it was unclear whether the one or two people sitting there were their classmates.

Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li and yawned again, "Did we come too early?"

Gu Li also noticed that Jiang Xu yawned as he spoke. "Yeah, why did we come so early?"

Jiang Xu thought for a moment and said, "I didn't know we would get to the classroom by walking."

Gu Li nodded. "It seems so. Why?"

His question prompted them both to start reminiscing, and their memories slowly drifted back.

The two of them walked along the road, but for some reason they didn't want to head towards their nearby homes. So they chatted as they walked further away, walking in tacit understanding.

Then they both sat down in their current seats.

Gu Li looked at Jiang Xu and smiled, "I can't remember. What about you?"

Jiang Xu nodded, "Yes, me too."

They truly understood each other without saying a word.
