Chapter 30 Sucking

The two walked quickly when they came and quickly when they left. They didn't notice anyone else, but others did.

"Bingbing, look over there," the girl standing next to the snack shelf said, pointing in a direction.

Hu Bingbing turned her head to look at her. "What's wrong?" She knew what the girl was looking at, but she pretended not to know and glanced at it before looking in another direction. "Do you want to buy that?" she asked, pointing in a vague direction.

"No, no, that red-haired guy is so handsome, Bingbing, look, those two are so tall." The girl's hand moved along with the two men's movements.

Hu Bingbing then pretended to see the two people, but her eyes lit up when she did.

When she looked over, she didn't see the red-haired youth's face; he was completely turned away from her while speaking, leaving only the back of his head visible.

What caught her eye was the black-haired young man.

The black-haired youth was talking to the other person, a handsome smile on his lips. The smile made him look very refined and youthful.

But what caught Hu Bingbing's attention even more was that the young man not only had the youthful spirit that one should have at his age, but also a certain depth hidden in his eyes. This made her feel that she had glimpsed his soul, something more mature and attractive than his appearance.

Hu Bingbing laughed, her already proud face now blooming like a flower. "I think the one with black hair is more interesting."

"It would be great if they could join our drama club. The arts festival is right after the freshman military training ends, and if they come, our performance will definitely be the most outstanding one." The girl's tone was full of anticipation.

Hu Bingbing: "How do you know they won't come?"

The girl's eyes lit up as she looked at Hu Bingbing, "Bingbing, if you were to make a move, it would be a piece of cake."

Hu Bingbing was still looking in the direction of the two young men, now only able to see their backs as they walked side by side. "Just watch," she said, then looked away and took something off the shelf. "Hurry up and choose, we should head back after we're done shopping."

Gu Li opened the door. "This meal can be considered a housewarming party for you." He carried the groceries towards the kitchen. "Although it's not in your room, it's almost the same."

Jiang Xu, carrying his things, followed Gu Li's footsteps. "Today I'm celebrating having such a good neighbor. Tomorrow I'll invite my good neighbor over for a housewarming party. What do you say, good neighbor?"

Gu Li: "How do you know they're good neighbors?"

Jiang Xu, "Hmm?" He looked at Gu Li, then jokingly said, "Whether a neighbor is good or not, you'll only know after you try it."

Gu Li turned on the tap to rinse her hands. "Ugh, it's dirty."

Jiang Xu: "Then how about something a bit more sophisticated?"

Gu Li shook her hands at the sink. "Come wash your hands."

Jiang Xu walked over, put his hand under the faucet, and heard a snap of fingers as the faucet was turned off, splashing tiny water droplets on his face and ears.

He turned to look over, and Gu Li spoke up at that moment, "There's no such thing as high-class, but there's something even more rustic." He smiled and continued, "If your neighbors are good, then we're all good together."

As Gu Li was about to speak, she raised her hand to wipe her wet cheek and said, "Hmm, it's kind of like an advertisement."

Gu Li: "If I'm selling you something, I'll be the one who benefits."

Jiang Xu: "You made a profit again, didn't you?"

Gu Li: "He's only slightly better than you."

Jiang Xu unpacked the shopping bags. "You bought quite a lot. Can you cook a lot of dishes?"

Gu Li took out the items one by one, "Not really."

Jiang Xu, "Hmm?" He looked at Gu Li, who was opening each bag.

Gu Li laid out the items on the table one by one. "There's quite a lot, though. It's a great opportunity for our good neighbor to order food at home. Nobody else has ever had that chance." He pointed to the pile of things on the table, looking as if he were saying something casually and generously.

Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li and inexplicably felt that the other person was a bit like a peacock at this moment, with a vivid expression of showing off and pride, but not at all annoying. On the contrary, he wanted to see if the other person could hold his tail higher. "Wow," he exclaimed in support, "I want to eat them all! Can I really pick and choose as I please?"

Gu Li raised her chin and waved her hand, "Choose whatever you like."

Jiang Xu only mentioned a few home-style dishes, such as scrambled eggs with tomatoes and shredded potatoes, and for meat, he only mentioned stir-fried pork with green peppers.

Although Gu Li looked confident, he still didn't want to put too much pressure on the person.

After all, it's a good thing for a child to be confident, so don't discourage them too much the first time.

After Jiang Xu finished speaking, Gu Li glanced at him and immediately started picking up the vegetables.

Jiang Xu walked to the sink and said, "I'll wash the vegetables, you take care of the rest."

Gu Li said, "Okay." Then she went to prepare the meat.

The green pepper and pork stir-fry uses lean pork. The first thing to do is to cut the pork into slices of a suitable thickness. Then, marinate the pork with cooking wine and cornstarch for about 10 minutes. This will make the pork more tender and remove any gamey smell.

Gu Li's knife skills were hard to evaluate. At least when Jiang Xu finished washing the food and stood next to her, he was somewhat taken aback. He couldn't tell whether it was the absolute confidence of a master or the fearlessness of a novice. After all, the kitchen was really a blind spot for him.

Fortunately, Jiang Xu was a good student who asked questions promptly. He immediately asked, "Teacher Gu's technique is superb. I wonder how many times you've practiced to achieve this result?"

Without stopping his hands, Gu Li replied, "To be honest, my skills are the best I can match."

Jiang Xu said, "It's truly not something an ordinary person can learn."

Gu Li: "Yes, with more learning and observation, it'll be just around the corner."

The moment he finished speaking, the already unsteady knife suddenly veered off course, swiftly slicing across the side of his index finger, drawing blood instantly. "Hiss."

Jiang Xu reacted quickly, grabbing Gu Li's hand that was holding the knife and taking it from her. He then pulled Gu Li's injured hand to the tap to rinse it until the wound was mostly clean before turning off the tap.

Gu Li was about to pull her hand back to take a look when Jiang Xu's grip tightened. Instead, he pulled Gu Li's hand to his face and, seeing that the wound was bleeding again, decisively put it in his mouth.

Gu Li felt a sudden warmth on his hands, which were icy cold from being rinsed by water, followed by a slight sucking sensation. He could clearly see what was happening in front of him, but his brain was a beat slower to process what was happening.

What does Jiang Xu mean by this?

While Gu Li was still in a daze, his senses suddenly jolted him awake: his tongue!

Jiang Xu's tongue gently traced his wound, causing a slight pain and itching. What was even more unbearable was that the warmth turned into a burning sensation, as if the wound had suddenly caught fire.

Jiang Xu looked up, took a tissue to wipe his mouth, exhaled the metallic taste, and then asked the injured person, "Do you have any band-aids?"

Gu Li suddenly snapped out of her daze, "I'll go myself, you wait here for me." Then she ran off.

Jiang Xu's gaze fell on the person's back, he pressed a tissue to his lips and muttered to himself.

His ears turned red.
