Chapter 57 Heartbeat

Jiang Xu turned around and saw Gu Li standing not far away. The young man had a black headband on his forehead, which covered some of his red hair. No matter how flamboyant the black and red hair was, it couldn't compare to his even more flamboyant face.

Gu Li walked over to Jiang Xu, who had turned around, and said, "You're punctual, aren't you? Just like you."

Jiang Xu said, "They almost finished before me." He stood side by side with Gu Li, "We still need to work harder."

Gu Li: "No way, I did it all to meet you."

Jiang Xu: "I deliberately waited for you on the way."

Gu Li deliberately took a big step, "I'd believe you if you took a smaller step."

Jiang Xu lifted his leg to keep pace with Gu Li, "Isn't this the same size as you?"

Gu Li stopped in her tracks. "Your brother isn't young anymore; he's superior to you in every way."

“Besides age,” Jiang Xu glanced at Gu Li, “I can’t see anything else.” He added quietly, “Even his age is uncertain.”

Gu Li openly let everyone see, "How could I let you see?" He put his hand on his neck, "You'll find out soon enough, and you'll definitely call me 'brother' obediently."

Jiang Xu rubbed his arm. "You should be the good one. You look so obedient."

Gu Li twitched the corner of her mouth. Obedient? What nonsense. "I think your eyesight isn't very good. I'll bring you some cod liver oil tonight."

Jiang Xu said, "I can see every single hair on your head. You can keep it for yourself."

Gu Li: "Is that so? Then I can see exactly how many hairs you have. You still need it more."

Jiang Xu: "How many? Tell me so I can see if I'm right?"

Gu Li, “Many, many roots.”

Jiang Xu, “…” He really didn’t even bother to make up a single number.

The gym was quite crowded. The two swiped their cards and started walking. Jiang Xu pointed to a seat not far away and said, "Sit here for a bit and wait for me. I'm going to change my clothes."

After choosing a coach yesterday, he also left a few sets of workout clothes at the gym. The gym has showers and changing rooms, and quite a few people choose to leave their clothes there.

Gu Li replied, "Okay, I'll be waiting for you." He tilted his head and curled the corner of his mouth in a slightly provocative manner.

Jiang Xu returned Gu Li's smile and then turned and left.

When Jiang Xu returned, he found someone sitting next to Gu Li, and it was someone he knew.

Zhao Rangwen was surprised to see Gu Li at the gym. He had chosen a part-time job distributing flyers to earn money, and he had come back in the afternoon to pick up the flyers from the person in charge. That's when he saw Gu Li sitting alone.

Zhao Rangwen said softly, "Gu Li, hello there. We're classmates. I never expected to see you here."

Gu Li said, "What? You drove it, so you won't let me in?" He casually scrolled through his phone, ignoring Zhao Rangwen.

Zhao Rangwen was taken aback. He hadn't expected Gu Li to say that. "I... I didn't mean that. I just really think it's a coincidence and I'm very happy."

Gu Li glanced at Zhao Rangwen. "What's there to be happy about? Are we that close?" He said, moving a little to the side. "Don't bother me with people I've never even met."

Zhao Rangwen persisted, putting on a gentle smile. "No, I'm Jiang Xu's roommate. We've met before, but you don't seem to remember me." He lowered his head slightly, looking somewhat disappointed.

Gu Li smiled and said in a gentle tone, "Oh, I remember now, I do remember you."

Zhao Rangwen suddenly looked up, his eyes lighting up. He saw Gu Li smiling in his direction, a beautiful smile, her eyes brimming with lively joy. "Then we..."

Gu Li continued directly, "You're one of those three unlucky roommates, right?" He said seriously, "I think I'm not mistaken. Jiang Xu, come over and see if it's him." His smile remained fixed on Zhao Rangwen's back.

Jiang Xu's lips curled up slightly, and the two exchanged amusement in each other's eyes.

Zhao Rangwen turned around abruptly and looked over. He slowly walked towards Zhao Rangwen, meeting his surprised gaze. The smile was buried deep the moment Zhao Rangwen looked over, and Zhao Rangwen could not see a trace of it.

The moment Zhao Rangwen heard Jiang Xu's name, he realized that Gu Li wasn't looking at him at all. He was looking behind him, and the reason for Gu Li's drastic change in attitude became clear.

The ice layer that had been preventing him from getting close seemed to melt immediately upon encountering something. Just when Zhao Rangwen thought that the other party remembered him and wanted to get to know him first, Gu Li bluntly told him that all the changes were because of Jiang Xu.

Zhao Rangwen tried to sound relaxed as he spoke, "Jiang Xu, you're here too! What a coincidence! Are you here to work out as well?"

Jiang Xu sat down next to Gu Li and said casually, "You came with a friend. It's surprising that you have the money to exercise. Should I shorten my cycle a bit?"

Zhao Rangwen said, "No, no, you misunderstood me. Ever since I agreed to that, I've been working hard, and I came here for that too." He deliberately made his description ambiguous in his flustered state, his gaze occasionally lingering on Gu Li.

Jiang Xu said, "I was going to give you some face, but I really didn't expect you to talk about repaying the money so ambiguously."

Zhao Rangwen seemed startled. "I was just talking about paying back the money. I didn't mean it to be ambiguous. I didn't!" He raised his voice, sounding extremely aggrieved as if he had been framed. "Even if I rejected you before and you held a grudge against me, I don't mean it anymore."

Gu Li frowned as he looked at Jiang Xu, his displeasure evident on his face despite his silence. "Jiang Xu," he called out, his voice heavy.

Zhao Rangwen was delighted to see this; there was indeed room for him to intervene in their relationship, and he had successfully tested the waters.

Gu Li was about to say something after calling out to Jiang Xu, but then he burst out laughing, as if he couldn't hold it in any longer. "His acting is terrible, but I guess I just didn't catch it," he said with amusement, even leaning down and resting his head on Jiang Xu's shoulder. "You do it, you do it."

Jiang Xu felt a slight tremor in his shoulder, which gave him the illusion that it was the frequency of his heartbeat.

He looked at Zhao Rangwen and found him increasingly annoying. "Still standing here planning to pay back the money today? Well, no wonder you came to me today. Here you go."

Zhao Rangwen looked at his outstretched hand. "I didn't come to see you, I came to..." He wanted to mention Gu Li, but Gu Li's gaze stopped him from saying the rest of his sentence.

Jiang Xu naturally noticed Zhao Rangwen's change. "Then why aren't you leaving? Are you waiting for us to take you?" He emphasized the word "we" slowly, which was both a warning and a rejection.

Zhao Rangwen glanced at Gu Li, still unwilling to give up. Gu Li's gaze was indifferent, as if she were tired and looking at him blankly, or rather, he was unsure of Gu Li's attitude. "I... I understand."

As Zhao Rangwen was about to leave after finishing speaking, he suddenly met Gu Li's gaze again. At this moment, the man was smiling, and the corners of his eyes were curved, which could be described as gentle.

Zhao Rangwen was stunned. He subconsciously looked back and this time, he was sure he hadn't seen wrong.

Gu Li is looking at himself!
