Chapter 72 Shining Brightly

After Ji Hai finished asking the question, Lü Chao chimed in, "You asked that deliberately. He doesn't have the habit of wearing a watch."

Ji Hai said with a smile to Gu Li, "That makes sense. I'll ask again. It's really beautiful. Who gave it to you?"

Lu Chao sighed, "Mother Ji, you truly live up to your reputation."

Gu Li laughed, "Hai, you have a good eye." He looked at Lü Chao beside him and nudged him with his elbow, "Quick! You're the only one left, Chaozi."

Lu Chao glanced at the watch, then looked at Jiang Xu through Gu Li. "You've collected all the dragons here, but I must say, it looks pretty good." He nodded to Jiang Xu after he finished speaking. "You have good taste, Jiang Xu."

Jiang Xu: "It only looks good on the person wearing it."

Xu Lang: "Wow, Chaozi, look how sincere he is when he says this. If you said it, Gu Li wouldn't believe it."

Lu Chao smirked at Xu Lang, "So do you think he'll believe what you say?"

Xu Lang, "..." He seemed to have made the joke too soon.

Xie Tao stood up. "Come on, I know a really popular place, it's perfect with beer."

Xu Lang punched Xie Tao's arm. "You should have said so earlier, otherwise I would have sided with you. By the way, I've never heard you mention it before."

Xie Tao, "I found out when you and Lü Chao were having a battle of wits on the bus. I didn't want to bother you since you were too busy."

Xu Lang: "That's why I say Tao, you're the most considerate one."

Gu Li looked at Xu Lang and said, "Lang, you're really something. You can praise anything."

Xu Lang smiled confidently, "Of course."

Gu Li stood up, and as Jiang Xu also stood up, she said to him, "I accept your compliments, and the person who gave me the gift is also very nice."

Jiang Xu smiled and met Gu Li's gaze. "Don't be so polite."

The barbecue restaurant Xie Tao mentioned wasn't very close. When they arrived, it was almost 7 o'clock. It gets dark late in summer, but when they arrived, the afterglow had completely dissipated, the sky was just beginning to lighten, and the darkness was slowly spreading upwards.

The barbecue restaurant is mostly outdoors, with many tables set up outside. It's really bustling, with steaming hot food and a wonderful aroma filling the air.

Xie Tao: "It's a semi-self-service format. You can grill it yourself or have the restaurant grill it for you. Which one do we choose?"

Lü Chao said, "Shopkeeper, please grill it. It's so hot. It's a bit messy to eat it while sweating."

Xu Lang: "But it's more fun to bake it yourself, right?"

Gu Li thought for a moment, "It mainly depends on how many people know how to grill. I'll start by saying I don't."

Jiang Xu said, "I'll continue, I don't know either."

Ji Hai: "Then I'll say it too, I can't."

Lü Chao: "I don't need to say anything, I really can't."

Xie Tao glanced at Xu Lang and said, "If they're grilling themselves, then the two of us will serve them."

Xu Lang waved his hand, "Shopkeeper, go ahead and grill it. You old men are all running faster than the next one."

Xie Tao nodded, "Gentlemen, go pick out some skewers."

The store had refrigerators and freezers. The six people looked around, and Gu Li waved his hand generously, "Pick whatever you like."

Jiang Xu glanced at them and said with a smile, “You’re acting like you’re treating us. How about I let you have it?” He looked at Gu Li and then said to the others, “You can pick whatever you want, but don’t waste food.”

Xu Lang waved his hand, "No, I hate it when people waste food."

Gu Li handed a plate to Jiang Xu, saying, "Don't worry, I definitely won't fight you for the bill."

Jiang Xu took the tray. "Are you going to grab it when we eat later?"

Gu Li picked at the meat, saying, "If you think like that, even if I don't take it, they will. I might as well let you take it, and I'll praise you for being generous."

Jiang Xu said, "You're really generous."

After the six people finished choosing their food, they handed their plates to the shop owner, who, speaking in a thick Northeastern accent, said, "Young men should eat more. Do you want it spicy?"

Xu Lang said to Xie Tao beside him, "Tao, you're from the same hometown."

Xie Tao nodded and replied to the Northeastern brother, "Extra spicy, Brother Ha, put in as much as you can." These guys love spicy food, and you could tell from the last time they had hot pot that Jiang Xu could handle spicy food too.

The owner took the plates one by one. "Okay, eat first when they're served. If you're still hungry, take more. When you're done, just come here to pay, or you can just call out and someone will come to collect the bill." After he had put them all down, he asked, "Do you want beer with you? Most people here get beer."

Xie Tao: "Okay, let's get two cases first, then we'll go out and pick out a spot."

The six people chose a table on the outskirts and sat around it. By this time, it was completely dark. The barbecue restaurant's signboard was very bright, and there were many lights outside, making the entire shop and the tables outside very bright.

It was lunchtime, and not long after they sat down, more and more people came in, and the seats were almost full, with many people sitting in the waiting area.

Conversations filled the tables, the whole scene lively and brimming with the essence of summer.

The wine was brought out first, and Jiang Xu fiddled with the bottle opener in his hand, asking, "By the bottle or by the glass?"

Gu Li looked at Jiang Xu's hand and said, "The person who's treating can decide. We'll just keep you company."

Lu Chao sighed, "Li, do you think that just because you have a wine cabinet at home and talk so cheerfully, you're the type who can really drink?"

Gu Li deftly cracked open the beer bottle. "Do you think that just because you preemptively attacked me, we'll forget that you're the weakest among us?" He handed the bottle to Lü Chao. "Here, whoever uses the glass can't do it."

Lu Chao snatched it away, saying, "Who's afraid of who?"

Xu Lang: "They're all younger brothers."

Lu Chao and Gu Li looked at Xu Lang together. Gu Li smiled and placed the newly broken bottle in front of Xu Lang, "Little Lang, you've been deprived of your right to use a cup."

Lu Chao took the cup from Xu Lang's hand and handed it to Jiang Xu, saying, "At the same time, Jiang Xu has priority in using the cup."
