Chapter 79 Honey

Gu Li thought that it was the recliner and blanket on the balcony that made him too relaxed, and the faint fragrance on the blanket made him completely forget about changing his dressing.

All he remembered was reaching for his phone to find the owner of that fragrance.

Jiang Xu nodded. "It's really worrying that you changed it yourself," he sighed clearly. "Sigh, little brother, you really don't give your older brother any peace of mind."

Gu Li nudged Jiang Xu's arm. "Your tone is a bit disgusting."

Jiang Xu: "Isn't it good to you? I even bring you coolness on this hot day."

Gu Li, "This is wonderful..."

The summer evening breeze carried the two of them all the way to the Pear Blossom Villa.

Gu Li sat on his sofa, glancing at the coffee table, which held medicine and gauze. He could hear the faint sound of flowing water in the distance.

Jiang Xu washed his hands in the bathroom. He slowly rubbed his knuckles, the foam was washed away by the water, he wiped his hands, and then disinfected them.

Gu Li heard footsteps and looked over. "You're so formal, I'm starting to get nervous."

Jiang Xu walked over and sat down next to Gu Li. "But I didn't see any sign of you being nervous."

Gu Li: "I'm rather profound, it's normal that you can't tell."

Jiang Xu reached out, bringing the two closer. "A person of great depth, let's be quiet for a while."

Gu Li felt Jiang Xu's fingertips touching the gauze. The fingertips had just been washed and were slightly cool, and they would occasionally touch her skin.

Jiang Xu deftly unwrapped the gauze around Gu Li's neck, slowly removing it circle by circle. With each movement, the two would sometimes move closer and sometimes further apart.

When they were close, they could clearly feel each other's breath, but when they were far apart, the intertwined warmth seemed like an illusion.

Reality and illusion are intertwined, with a sense of clarity mixed with ambiguity.

Gu Li felt that the process was somewhat slow and mentally taxing.

Jiang Xu's gaze mostly fell on the gauze, but he couldn't help but look at the fair skin that was slowly being revealed, and occasionally at the lower half of Gu Li's face.

It landed on those pale lips.

When the gauze was completely removed, his gaze was fixed on Gu Li's wound.

After a few days, the wound had scabbed over, and the glaring bright red was gone, leaving a pale nude pink and the black of the scab. It struck Jiang Xu in a different, shocking way.

My heart aches silently yet dully.

Jiang Xu's fingertips gently touched the wound. "Does it still hurt?" he asked casually, then before Gu Li could answer, he said, "What kind of question is that? It must hurt a lot." He rubbed his fingertips against the intact skin. "Luckily you can't see it, Gu Li."

Gu Li pressed down on Jiang Xu's wrist. "It doesn't hurt. Don't tickle me when I can't see." He moved Jiang Xu's hand away slightly and shook Jiang Xu's wrist. "It's quite itchy."

Jiang Xu took the medicine bottle from Gu Li's hand. Gu Li shook it a couple of times and then let go, smiling easily at Jiang Xu. Jiang Xu reached for the medicine bottle, saying, "Next time this happens, I'll definitely put a cast on you."

Gu Li: "There won't be a next time, ouch."

Hearing Gu Li gasp for breath, Jiang Xu immediately looked over. "What's wrong? Did you pull on your wound?"

Gu Li and Jiang Xu looked at each other. "No, relax." He smiled and said, "I just suddenly felt that your serious face was too unnatural for your age. How about a smile?"

Jiang Xu opened the bottle cap. "I can't laugh. Do you think this scene is funny?"

Gu Li sighed softly, "It's so bitter. I feel like my wound is about to start hurting again. It won't heal without a nice smile."

Jiang Xu held a cotton swab in one hand and a medicine bottle in the other, looking at Gu Li. Gu Li also looked at Jiang Xu, her amber eyes filled with brightness and expectation, a slight smile playing on her lips. "Okay? Brother Xu."

Jiang Xu now understood Ji Hai and the others a little better. Gu Li was hiding a sweet secret, and the sweetness of that secret was impossible to hide in front of those he was willing to reveal it to.

For example, right now.

Jiang Xu looked at the curve of Gu Li's lips and his own lips curved into the same curve. The smile in his black pupils, filled with the indulgence of its owner, completely enveloped Gu Li.

"The dressing has been changed. Remember to tell me if it hurts."

Gu Li watched the smile come and go so quickly, like a gentle breeze that had blown away but still left a soft aftertaste, its presence deeply ingrained. "Hmm, okay."

The entire process was quiet, with only the slight rise and fall of breathing. The sounds started out intermittently, gradually overlapping and eventually becoming consistent in frequency.

After wrapping the gauze around for the last time, Jiang Xu secured it and gently patted it. "Okay, is it tight enough?"

Gu Li said, "Not at all, absolutely perfect." He watched Jiang Xu's movements, his tone gradually rising, "So professional, so good, I'll definitely look for you again in the future."

Jiang Xu said, "I've taken care of everything this time. I don't want it to happen again once you're better."

Gu Li said, "This time is enough." He raised an eyebrow slightly. "There's no need for a next time."

After tidying up the things on the table, Jiang Xu stood up and said, "Sit down and wait a bit. Have some hot water."

He got up and went to the bar to rinse the glasses. He then carried two glasses of warm water back to the sofa.

Gu Li took the cup from Jiang Xu's hand. "It's so nice to have you bring me warmth in this cold, air-conditioned room."

Jiang Xu said slowly, ā€œI’m bringing you coolness and warmth, and having me is truly your greatest blessing.ā€

Gu Li drank some water and said to Jiang Xu, "You really impress me."

Jiang Xu said, "This pun is really..." He paused for a moment and then continued, "It's okay, but unnecessary."

Gu Li: "If it's possible, then it's great."

Jiang Xu nodded. "You're quite impressive."

Gu Li smiled and said, "Thank you for your kind offer."

Jiang Xu took a sip of water. "No, no."

On Friday morning, Jiang Xu received a message on his phone, reminding him again that today was the day for his driving test (Part 2).

There was a mock exam before the actual exam. Jiang Xu went on Thursday afternoon when he didn't have any classes during the first period. As expected, he passed with a perfect score. The security guard who accompanied him was an old man who smiled and said, "That's good."

Jiang Xu initially thought it was fine, until two people stuck to him in the exam room.

Hu Bingbing was accompanied by Liu Xian, who waited by the card reader when Jiang Xu swiped his ID card to enter.

Jiang Xu swiped his ID card and went in without any hesitation. If anyone was going to leave, it would be these two. He didn't need to hide from them.

Sure enough, the people who had just been waiting gathered around. Hu Bingbing looked up at Jiang Xu and said, "We can meet so many people during the exam. Is this fate?" She blinked and her voice became playful.

Jiang Xu glanced at Hu Bingbing. Had she suddenly changed her style?

Jiang Xu glanced at Hu Bingbing and gestured to Liu Xian beside her, "No, you two came all the way here, that's real fate." He nodded after he finished speaking, "Don't you think so, Bingbing?"
