Chapter 87 Award Ceremony

Gu Li looked down and found Jiang Xu standing right in front of him. They were very close, and he could faintly smell the scent of shampoo mixed with the smell of barbecue. A slightly uncomfortable feeling crept into his mind, and he stepped back to create some distance. "Why did you suddenly stop?"

Jiang Xu felt the warmth on his back recede, and just then a gust of wind blew by, making his back feel cool. "I stopped at the fork in the road to check the way, but what are you thinking about?"

Gu Li said, "Look at the sky, it's quite relaxing, and it shows that I trust you a lot."

Jiang Xu said, "Okay, then how could I let you down?" After he finished speaking, he looked up at the sky and thought he saw a star and the moon touching.

As the moonlight shone down, he and Gu Li continued walking across the fields.

In the girls' dormitory at night, Hu Bingbing was wearing a face mask and scrolling through her phone. She was idly browsing her WeChat Moments, and when she came across the name Hu Bai, she just glanced at it and was about to skip it.

However, she could still make out two striking faces in the shrunken photo.

She paused and clicked on the photo; it was indeed Jiang Xu and Gu Li.

Hu Bingbing's face mask wrinkled due to her facial expression. How could Hu Bai know Jiang Xu and Gu Li?

She and Hu Bai are cousins, but their relationship is not very close, and it can be described as somewhat awkward due to the relationship between their parents.

So she wanted to be better than Hu Bai in everything. Hu Bai was smiling happily in the photo, and even Jiang Xu and Gu Li looked happy and relaxed.

Why? Jiang Xu doesn't treat me this way, so why would he treat an ordinary person like Hu Bai like this?

Hu Bingbing frowned, staring blankly at the photo.

"Bingbing? Your face mask isn't fitting properly," Zhang He reminded Hu Bingbing, who was staring blankly at her phone.

Hu Bingbing snapped back to reality. "I understand."

Zhang He leaned closer, somewhat curious. "What are you looking at?"

Hu Bingbing suddenly turned off her phone screen. She watched Zhang He remove the face mask from her face and asked, "Zhang He, have I become uglier lately? Why do people say I'm not pretty?"

Zhang He's attention was diverted. "How could that be? Bingbing, who said that about you? She must have bad eyesight and be jealous of you."

Hu Bingbing blinked, her face, which had just been covered with a face mask, looked very moisturized. "It's a boy, the one we saw in the supermarket before."

Zhang He recalled, "It's those two people!" She said in surprise, "He rejected you, Bingbing, during the last stage play. He might really be hard to approach. He actually said something like that. Maybe we should just give up."

Hu Bingbing's eyes flickered. "You also think he won't like me, right?" She lowered her head, her eyes full of resentment. "But I really like him."

Zhang He quickly waved her hand, "No, I just think he's not good enough for you, Bingbing."

Hu Bingbing smiled. "But he already knows my ordinary-looking cousin. Why is that?"

Zhang He was stunned and didn't know what to say, while Hu Bingbing didn't care about Zhang He's answer anyway. She was thinking about how to get Jiang Xu's attention.

Now, she absolutely cannot give up, even if it's just to beat Hu Bai.

As the night deepened, their various thoughts dissipated into their dreams.

On Saturday night, the item Jiang Xu had ordered arrived. It was packed in a mahogany box. He opened it, looked at it slowly, and finally closed the box with satisfaction.

This educational gift will finally be handed over to its owner tomorrow.

When Gu Li rang the doorbell, Jiang Xu was placing the last dish on the table. This was the meal he had ordered in advance last night. He arranged it neatly on a plate and then went to open the door.

Gu Li arrived at the door in his pajamas, his hair completely straight with a few small curls, one strand sticking up in a unique way. "Good morning, neighbor," he said, rubbing his hair with a lazy expression.

Jiang Xu asked, "Are you sure it's morning?" He looked at the bright sun shining through the corridor window. "Does this sun look like it's morning?"

Gu Li glanced at it, then pretended to rub her eyes. "It's so bright, I can't see anything. I have no idea what time it is."

Jiang Xu, "Just woke up?" He stepped aside to let Gu Li in.

Gu Li entered the room. "Yes, I just brushed my teeth and washed my face before coming. I'm not too late, am I?"

Jiang Xu said, "You really are not late at all. You just made it in time. If you had come a few minutes earlier, I would have helped set out the dishes."

Gu Li smiled at Jiang Xu and said, "I'm really lucky."

Jiang Xu: "Yes, come sit down and eat."

Gu Li pulled out a chair first. "Please sit down." He gestured for me to sit. "I'll go with whatever you want as a guest."

Jiang Xu sat in the chair he had pulled out and pointed to the chair next to him. "Please sit down. I sincerely invite you to sit down."

Gu Li sat down. "Then I won't stand on ceremony." He looked at the dishes on the table. "You said last time that if you don't finish all this, it'll become dinner."

Jiang Xu: "Yes, it's a good thing you came at noon, otherwise we would have had to eat leftovers for dinner."

Gu Li thought, "I guess I'm just lucky."

The dishes were plentiful, mainly meat dishes, but also adhering to the principle of a balanced mix of meat and vegetables. Jiang Xu placed a plate of stir-fried pork liver directly in front of Gu Li, "Here, have some more to replenish your energy."

Gu Li picked up a piece and put it in his own bowl. "I'm hungry, you eat too." He then picked up another piece and put it in Jiang Xu's bowl. "Don't be shy with me."

Jiang Xu glanced at the pig liver in the bowl. "You're quite good at taking the initiative, aren't you?"

Gu Li then put other dishes into Jiang Xu's bowl, saying, "How could I? I was worried you were hungry. Eat more, eat more."

Jiang Xu stopped him, saying, "They're being too enthusiastic, I can't handle it."

Gu Li stopped, "Then I'll tone it down."

Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li's neck. "It's time to change the dressing again today, isn't it? You change the gauze yourself every day?"

Gu Li said, "It's time to change the dressing. I can change the gauze every two days, but it's up to you to change the dressing."

Jiang Xu nodded, "Don't worry, there won't be any problems." He put some vegetables on Gu Li's plate, "Will it be ready soon?"

Gu Li glanced at the vegetables in the bowl, and seeing Jiang Xu about to pick up more food, said, "Stop, stop, stop. If you want to show me enthusiasm, give me some meat, otherwise I won't accept it."

Jiang Xu paused, his chopsticks almost touching the vegetables, then smoothly picked up his chopsticks and reached for the meat. Gu Li breathed a sigh of relief, "Almost done. Thanks to my good neighbor, otherwise it definitely wouldn't have been this fast."

Jiang Xu: "How come I didn't know I had made such an outstanding contribution?"

Gu Li pointed to his bowl, "It's so obvious, it's all from repairs." Then he pointed to his neck, "And your superb dressing-changing skills, none of them are indispensable, you are the MVP."

Jiang Xu nodded, "I deserve it, I deserve it." He looked at Gu Li and smiled, "It is indeed all thanks to me."

Gu Li smiled and said, "You deserve an award, otherwise it would be a disservice to your confident expression."

Jiang Xu said, "Let's save them for later and award them together." After he finished speaking, he looked at Gu Li's neck and said, "Change the medicine after you finish taking it, Gu Li." He called his name.
