The weekend comes quickly.
In order to prepare for this "real" date, Gu Ming got up early in the morning.
First, he put mousse on his head and shaved his beard, then he asked the servants to iron his suit and polish his leather shoes.
Seeing that he was quite honest during the time for reflection and that the auction house was not a messy place, Mr. Gu waved his hand and let him go.
After everything was ready, Gu Ming carefully checked his entire body and confirmed it countless times before finally getting in the car to pick someone up at the gate of Peking University.
Judging from his sincerity, Li Xiujun, as a girl, was probably even more particular. I was used to seeing her in long shirts and trousers, but I had never seen her in a skirt.
As the black spot at the gate of Lijing University got closer and closer, Gu Ming's heart was pounding and he was filled with anticipation.
When he stopped at the black spot next to Li Xiujun, he rubbed his eyes vigorously as if waking up from a dream.
Where's the dress? Where's the high heels?
Even if they didn't have the first two, they still had so many decent clothes when they went shopping.
Li Xiujun was still wearing her usual clothes, with her long hair casually tied up with a plastic rubber band. The only formal thing about her was probably the white sneakers on her feet.
After hesitating for a while, he said, "You're going to wear this?"
Li Xiujun looked down, confused.
It’s not just about dressing appropriately. Yesterday she even went to the mall, gritted her teeth, and bought a pair of Tiger shoes.
What's more, everyone at the flea market will definitely want to grab the good stuff, and what I'm wearing is comfortable and convenient, so I'll have a head start at the starting line.
"Is there anything wrong with wearing it like this? It's going to get dirty later."
Gu Ming didn't understand what the auction house had to do with getting dirty or not. He held his forehead with his hand and said, "It's still early. I'll take you to pick out a dress first, and then we'll go to the barber shop to get your hair done."
If his friends saw this, they would probably laugh at him madly, saying that he was too reluctant to even buy a piece of clothing for his female companion.
Li Xiujun ignored him and fastened her seatbelt directly: "No need, this is fine now, let's go."
The auction house did not allow bags, so she specially brought a coat with her so that she could just pull the edge and carry it away like a sack.
Gu Ming couldn't persuade her and felt extremely confused.
Outside the central auction house, luxury cars that Li Xiujun couldn't name were constantly coming and going.
The men were all dressed in suits, and the women they were carrying were all very attractive. Just entering the venue seemed calm, but in reality, there were undercurrents.
Gu Ming got off the car first. After making sufficient mental preparations, he gritted his teeth and slightly bent his right arm.
Coming out of the car, Li Xiujun looked at him, baffled by his precarious demeanor. She thought the jerk must have had a brain injury today, circling around him while still urging him on.
"What are you standing there for? Come on."
Other people's female companions were either holding each other's arms or had half of their bodies in their arms.
He followed with a complicated expression.
Because the two's behavior during the entrance was the strangest among all the others, Gu Ming heard bursts of sneers and stood up straight.
Li Xiujun walked in front with his hands in his pockets, keeping a distance from others. He couldn't blame others for laughing. He was the first one to come to the auction house in casual clothes.
The central auction house was extremely thoughtful. Once you enter, you won't find seats arranged side by side in the traditional sense, but instead it has been transformed into a huge white marble banquet hall.
In the middle was a long table, stretching from one end of the hall to the other, with the other tables forming right angles to it.
The table was covered with white satin, on which gold, silver and glassware glittered.
The positions are opposite each other on a high platform with red curtains on the left and right.
Two giant, magnificent chandeliers hung from the high inlaid ceiling. The countless frosted glass pieces on the chandeliers reflected an extremely dazzling light.
The waiter took the tray, brought them to their seat, and placed a sign on the table.
Li Xiujun didn't expect that attending an auction would actually include afternoon tea, so she sat down and enjoyed it happily.
I have to say that the owner of the Central Auction House is really thorough in his work.
Even though he knew that these big shots probably wouldn't even have a bite, he still hired the best Western chef in France and did a very good job on the surface.
All of this benefited Li Xiujun.
Marseille fish soup, French tea pancakes, saffron chicken... These dishes that can only be seen on TV are placed in front of him one by one.
Li Xiujun could feel the gazes cast at her, some of contempt and some of shock, but she didn't care at all and continued to enjoy herself.
Gu Ming tried to strike up a conversation several times, but was always brushed off with a perfunctory "hmm".
After eating and drinking, the auctioneer picked up the microphone and introduced today's auction items one by one.
At first she was curious and her eyes were fixed on the platform. But after a while, she started yawning out of boredom and simply closed her eyes to rest.
The auction lasted from day to night and ended with applause.
Gu Ming was about to ask whether they should go directly to Gu's house or go to a restaurant for dinner. As soon as he turned around, he found that the person had disappeared.
Li Xiujun was only interested in the flea market. She walked through the west corridor, where some people had already set up stalls.
His eyes screened the crowd one by one.
I have to say that compared to the antique market, the things here are more diverse and numerous.
From furniture and color TVs to bracelets and toys, it was just like they were thrown into a garbage dump.
"These are all things Dad worked hard to save. You can't sell them. Take them back quickly."
"Why are you collecting it? Dad stuffs all this stuff into the house every day. I'm not throwing it away. Can't I just exchange it for some money to make room? Why do you have to clutter the house?"
Li Xiujun was just there to watch the fun and stopped in front of the couple's stall to take a few glances.
Just as I was about to change direction, I suddenly caught a glimpse of something shining out of the corner of my eye.
It's a Qing Dynasty Haoshi bracelet, royal blue in color. The Haoshi stones are shaped into ovals, connected by red string, and neatly tied with double knots between the stones.
In fact, it doesn’t have much collection value, but there is a voice in Li Xiujun’s mind that drives her to buy it.
This Haoshi bracelet looks like it has Uncle San's name written on it inside and out.
Uncle San has helped me so much, so it’s only right that I buy him a bracelet as a token of my gratitude.
Many people were trying to sell the goods in their stalls, and the sounds of shouting were mixed.
The loudest among them was a man with a pointed chin and monkey cheeks: "Look, everyone, look, this is a Song Dynasty tortoise-shell glaze tea cup. I'm not exaggerating, if the client wasn't in a hurry to sell it, he wouldn't have brought it here to sell. Don't miss it if you pass by."
A hint of interest flashed in Li Xiujun's eyes. It couldn't be such a coincidence, right? It was the lamp that Gu Ming was tricked into?
