The expected pain did not come. Ji Changning was frightened by a loud noise and opened his eyes. He saw Si Chen at the door, followed by a uniformed man with a gun in his hand.
Si Chen had a sullen face and cold eyes, like an eagle in the dark night, striding towards her with an imposing manner.
Ji Changning felt inexplicably aggrieved and tears flowed like a dam bursting.
Si Chen untied the restraints on her hands and pulled her into his arms, "I'm sorry, I'm late."
Ji Changning was choked with sobs and couldn't speak.

Everyone in the villa was controlled, illegally imprisoned, and had illegal abortions. Si Chen refused to meet with the victims' families. The Qin family was in chaos, and the stock market plummeted.
Ji's mother wanted to meet Ji Changning several times but was rejected by Si Chen.

"Awake?" Si Chen sat down beside the bed with a bowl in his hand, "Get up and eat something."
Ji Changning reached out to take the bowl from him, and Si Chen chuckled, "How can you drink while lying down?"
Ji Changning sat up from the bed with a red face, "I'll go wash up first."
Si Chen put the slippers beside the bed.

Si Chen sat beside her and watched her eat in small bites.
Ji Changning pursed his lips, "Have you eaten yet?"
"I've eaten." Si Chen leaned back on the sofa. "How is it? Are you feeling better?"
On the day she was found, Ji Changning felt pain in her lower abdomen and there was blood on her underwear. She was so scared that she knocked on Si Chen's bedroom door in the middle of the night. The man took her to the hospital in his slippers and pajamas.
The doctor said there were signs of miscarriage, and it took a few days of hospitalization for the symptoms to subside. Ji Changning might have been frightened and her face turned pale. Si Chen did not ask any further questions, and the child was temporarily saved.
Ji Changning shook his head. "It's okay. How's grandma?"
Grandma Si was unable to keep the secret and was so frightened that she couldn't sleep for days. Yesterday she came to stay with Ji Changning for the entire afternoon and was only persuaded to go back in the evening by Father Si.
"It's okay, grandma. Come over later. This soup was made by the aunt in the old house. Grandma asked me to watch you drink it."
Ji Changning didn't have much feeling about family affection. Her own mother treated her like this. Grandma Si, with whom she had little contact, treated her as her own daughter. The same went for Si's parents. They never mentioned anything about the child in front of her and just said that it was enough for her to be well.
Si Chen was the same. He would be scolded every time he came, but he would not refute and just endure it silently.
Ji Changning put down his chopsticks and said, "I'm sorry, I've caused you to get scolded these days."
"What's there to be sorry about? It was my fault in the first place. It happened right under my nose. I deserve to be scolded."
Ji Changning was about to say something when there was a knock on the door.
"You eat first, eat more, this is the task my grandma gave me."
Ji Changning nodded.
Si Chen stood up and opened the door of the ward. The bodyguard was standing at the door.
"Mr. Si, my wife's mother has been downstairs, clamoring to see her, and it's almost impossible to stop her."
Si Chen frowned, "No, call the police if you keep making noise, no need to notify me again."
"OK."
Si Chen closed the door again.
Ji Changning had already put down his chopsticks, "Is it my mother?"
Si Chen did not hide it from her, he sat down on the sofa with great determination and nodded, "Don't worry, she can't come in, you have a good rest, I will take care of these things."
Ji Changning pursed his lips and rubbed his belly, "See you then."
Si Chen was stunned for a moment, "You want to see her?"
Ji Changning pursed his lips, his eyes firm, "See you."
