Jiang Peitian followed Qi Meijing to the hotel:
"What exactly do you want? Aren't you afraid of being laughed at by your parents in Washington after making such a scene?"
“It’s okay. They’ve laughed at me my whole life. The man is never home, and I’m always chasing after my rival’s kids. No successful man’s wife is as ridiculous as me.”
Qi Meijing opened the door and was about to close it when Jiang Peitian forcefully pushed the door open and entered, sitting on the edge of the bed and starting to take off his shoes.
Unexpectedly, Qi Meijing didn't even bother with her luggage. With her neck slightly lowered and arms crossed, she walked straight away.
Jiang Pei, without even putting on his shoes, strode out, forcefully pulled her inside, and closed the door.
"You think you're not embarrassed enough already, huh?"
"Spending even a second with you makes me feel nauseous. Thankfully, I don't have to endure it anymore, and now I'm happy to."
Qi Meijing stared intently into his eyes, a cold smile playing on her lips, and said in a slightly chilly tone.
Jiang Peitian was furious and glared at her, saying:
"Try saying that to me again?"
"What? At the last minute, you're still planning to resort to domestic violence?"
Qi Meijing was not afraid of him at all. She knew Jiang Peitian's personality; he was just like any other man.
Even if mistakes are made, relationships are strained, or conflicts run deep, everything can be resolved once you get to bed together.
But she found it disgusting. The thought of touching him was equivalent to indirectly contacting all sorts of women, and she felt a deep-seated loathing for it.
Her life... ultimately became a laughing stock.
Having no other choice, Jiang Peitian suppressed his anger and said:
"How about this, as long as we don't get divorced, you can do whatever you want with everything else. Go wherever you want."
He had been domineering for half his life, and he couldn't bear the thought that when people mentioned Jiang Peitian, it wouldn't be about his magnificent life, but about his wife's insistence on divorcing him.
Qi Meijing said in a fierce tone:
"Wanting a divorce simply means cutting all ties with you and never seeing you again."
"As long as I still bear the title of Madame Chiang Kai-shek, I feel uncomfortable every day."
Jiang Peitian couldn't argue with her now, so he simply kept quiet, locked the door, and threw the key downstairs.
"Since you find it disgusting, then let it be disgusting to the extreme."
Qi Meijing gave a desolate smile, then pushed him away without hesitation and walked to the window.
"Since you don't want to be labeled as divorced, wouldn't it be better to stick to the reputation of being a widower? Anyway, Jiang Peitian, you can't find any kind of person who doesn't meet your standards."
"Meijing, I was just joking with you. I've been so busy with work these past few years, I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. Don't take it to heart."
Besides, Huasheng Group owns shares in this hotel; if he jumped, it would be all over.
Jiang Peitian sounded anxious, fearing she might do something rash, and continued to persuade her, "And think about Jiang Ci. If something happens to you now, Jiang Ci's wedding will definitely have to be postponed."
"Call the front desk and ask them to come and open the door."
Qi Meijing never intended to jump off the building. Now that she has money and time, and she's not stupid, she just wants to scare Jiang Peitian and leave as soon as possible.
Jiang Peitian dared not delay for a moment. After giving the notification, he continued to persuade him:
"Meijing, I've only made a mistake that any ordinary man would make. Can you give me a chance?"
"Your comment that I made a mistake that ordinary men make has kept me in tears for nearly twenty years."
If I had shown even a shred of mercy towards you, then all those days were my own fault.
Qi Meijing's tone remained calm, perhaps indicating that she had become indifferent to the shift in her feelings from passionate love for Jiang Peitian to growing disgust.
After arguing for so many years with no resolution, saying anything more is a waste of time.
All she wants now is to see the world and, in her lifetime, witness Jiang Ci's peaceful, prosperous, and powerful growth.
Jiang Peitian spoke up:
"Didn't I already admit my mistake?"
"Some mistakes are unforgivable for life. Even if I forgive them, they are like a thorn stuck in my heart. They won't kill me, but they torment me every moment, making me wish I were dead."
After Qi Meijing finished speaking, the room door was opened by the waiter, and she left with her suitcase.
Jiang Peitian gazed at her figure, his eyes glistening with tears.
He didn't go home, but stayed at a hotel. The empty room was eerily quiet, almost unsettling.
He sat by the bed, gazing at the horizon, until the sun rose slowly before sadly departing.
When Wen Zhaoye saw him return, being a man himself, he roughly understood what had happened the night before. However, judging from his appearance, it was clear that nothing had gone wrong.
He glanced at Jiang Chengjin: "Your grandfather is back."
"grandfather."
Jiang Chengjin happily rushed to Jiang Peitian's side, and Jiang Peitian's heart, which had been aching all night, finally started beating again.
He picked up Jiang Chengjin, his eyes crinkling with a smile, and said, "My dear grandson."
Jiang Chengjin looked up and laughed:
"Grandpa, your eyes look like a panda's."
Jiang Peitian carried Jiang Chengjin into the house:
"Grandpa, you worked hard all night last night. You must be nicer to Grandpa in the future."
He had lived most of his life for the sake of his reputation, so he couldn't afford to make a fool of himself in front of the younger generation.
Wen Zhaoye almost burst out laughing when he heard this, thinking of him.
Jiang Chengjin was unaware of the adults' thoughts and believed them to be true.
He said softly, "Grandpa, you must have been very tired last night."
Wen Zhaoye chuckled softly:
"Your grandfather worked all night, all alone. It wasn't that he was exhausted, but he must have been very uncomfortable."
Jiang Peitian sighed softly:
"Stop making fun of me, I won't be the laughing stock of the whole city for long."
