Chapter 32 Go home, is this something you can read?

Wen Zhaoye suddenly remembered that the last time she saw Zhang Xiaofang and Xu Meili, she also had a completely unfamiliar expression on her face.

He stopped in his tracks, his gaze fixed intently on her, and said:

"Why do you seem to know no one here at all?"

Wen Jiaojiao always felt that his gaze was so sharp it could see through her soul, exposing all her hidden thoughts to the light of day.

Her face paled slightly, her heart leaped into her throat, and she lowered her eyes to avoid his sharp gaze, speaking softly:

"I fell down in the back mountain and hit my head. Then I didn't come back for two years. I only remember some people I was very familiar with, but I can't remember those I didn't have much contact with very clearly."

It was too dark, and Wen Jiaojiao only dared to shine the flashlight beam into the distance.

Wen Zhaoye didn't see the fear and panic on her face, but faced with someone who looked exactly like her, he didn't even consider any other possibilities:

Selective amnesia?

Wen Jiaojiao nodded reluctantly and said perfunctorily:

"I don't know, but it doesn't affect eating or drinking, so it doesn't matter. Don't worry about it."

Wen Zhaoye snatched the flashlight from her hand, aimed it at the tree trunk, grabbed the cicada, and said without much thought:

"I'll take you to the hospital to get checked out tomorrow."

Wen Jiaojiao secretly breathed a sigh of relief: "..."

Go home and talk to Xu Cuifen about not going to the hospital.

The countryside is free from pollution and overfishing, with a complete food chain, and insects and frogs can be seen everywhere.

Wen Zhaoye quickly caught half a bamboo basket of cicadas and then walked to the ditch beside the rice paddy.

There were many teenagers and men around, catching frogs and snakes in the rice paddies with flashlights. When they saw Wen Zhaoye, they all called out to him.

Wen Zhaoye gave a few polite but indifferent replies. He only wanted to be alone with Wen Jiaojiao and didn't want to get involved with them, so he took his flashlight and walked deeper into the area.

Four large bullfrogs were gathered together in the reeds of the ditch when they were suddenly exposed to a bright light, causing them to become temporarily blinded and motionless.

Wen Zhaoye quickly stepped into the ditch, reached out and pinched it. Under Wen Jiaojiao's surprised and delighted gaze, he smiled slightly, calmly put it into the fertilizer bag, and squeezed the bag tightly:

They've been staring at me all night and still haven't had enough. That's how much they love me.

Wen Jiaojiao stood by the overgrown ditch, looking down at the man below, and whispered:

"Brother, how about I carry the bag for you?"

Wen Zhaoye, barefoot and shoving deep in the mud, glanced back at her with a light laugh, then took the small bamboo bag off his back and handed it to her:

"Hold this for me."

Wen Jiaojiao reached out with difficulty, her fingertips touching the edge of the bamboo basket but just barely missing it, so she had no choice but to take a step down into the grass and trees.

Suddenly the vegetation swelled up, and she lost her footing, crying out in surprise, "Ah!"

Wen Zhaoye's pupils widened in surprise. Before he could react, he felt something incredibly soft pressed against his chest.

Wen Jiaojiao's slender white arms tightly embraced his long neck, her beautiful face pressed against his handsome profile, their bodies pressed close together.

His handsome face flushed crimson, and he dared not move, his heart pounding as if it would leap out of his chest. His voice was unnatural as he said:

There are still people around here.

Just as Wen Jiaojiao was about to reply, suddenly, a group of people rushed over from the ditch, several flashlight beams shining directly on the two of them.

Wen Zhaoye was carrying a fertilizer bag in one hand and a bamboo basket in the other, while Wen Jiaojiao threw herself into his arms and eagerly kissed his cheek.

Many of the men looked embarrassed and covered their children's eyes, scolding them:

"Go home, is this a place you can look at?"

Wen Jiaojiao stared at the dark, murky water in the ditch below, too afraid to let go, lest something be hidden in it. She felt a pang of anxiety, a premonition that tomorrow's village headline would definitely be...

"That shameless Wen Jiaojiao, under the pretext of catching frogs, dragged Wen Zhaoye to the fields in the middle of the night and raped him."

He wouldn't let go for ages. Could he have deliberately staged this? It seems he's resorting to any means necessary to get me.

A barely perceptible smile appeared on Wen Zhaoye's lips, his heart filled with her possessive desire for him.

The more he thought about it, the more his handsome face flushed. He used the hand holding the bamboo bag to shield his eyes from the strong light shining through.

Pulling his feet out of the mud, he walked towards the ditch, lowering his voice and saying in an ambiguous tone:

"They've already seen it, you can come down now."

Wen Jiaojiao wished she could bury her head in the ground; tears streamed down her face.

"It doesn't matter whether you go down early or late, I might as well wait for you to carry me up there. I'm afraid of this ditch, I feel like something will bite me."

A hint of a smile appeared in Wen Zhaoye's dark eyes: "..."

Isn't your only goal to ruin my reputation so I can't find a wife and will have to be with you? You've got a lot of ideas.

The children by the roadside ran home in groups, leaving only a group of grown men. They also believed that Wen Jiaojiao had ulterior motives and was trying to lure them away to ruin Wen Zhaoye's reputation. Filled with righteous indignation, they said:

"Zhaoye, should we pull her down?"

"Yes, if she dares to be tough with you, we'll beat her to death."

"Isn't it just that you deliberately attached yourself to Zhaoye, made a sound to attract us, and made him take responsibility? You little rascal, you're too cunning."

"Yes, I think that's probably the case."

Wen Zhaoye shared the same thought as them, but to protect her reputation, he reluctantly stepped onto the road and explained after Wen Jiaojiao let go:

"She just slipped and fell while catching the bamboo basket. It's not what you think. She didn't come down because she was afraid there was something in the water. Everyone, please don't spread rumors when you get back."

One of them said angrily:

"Zhaoye, you're too kind. You mustn't fall into this little girl's trap."

"She's just like her mother, very cunning."
