Chapter 54 Wen Jiaojiao gets drunk and calls someone "handsome".

In the groom's courtyard, three large square tables were set up, and Wen Jiaojiao sat at the table where there were women and children.

Wen Zhaoye was standing and talking with several other men, just about to sit down next to Wen Jiaojiao,

The man stopped him, saying, "Zhaoye, let's sit at another table. This table is full of women and children. What's the point of sitting here? We brothers have to have a couple of drinks tonight."

Another man came up and pulled him to sit at the next table. Soon the food was served. The first dish was cold spinach salad. The men at the table were so busy pouring drinks that no one touched it.

But at Wen Jiaojiao's table, the plate was completely clean in the short time it took her to bend down and pick up a chopstick.

One of the women even pulled the empty plate next to her child and explained:

"We'll eat this later."

Wen Jiaojiao didn't take it to heart; after all, it was just a vegetarian dish, and she didn't pay any attention to it. Soon, a second dish of cold pig's ear and cucumber salad was served.

She had just reached for her chopsticks when, amidst the others standing up and frantically grabbing food, the woman...

He took the plate over directly, scooped half of it into the empty plate, and instructed the boy again:

"Eat quickly."

When the plate was put back, even the garlic cloves inside were gone. Then another child pulled it over, licked the plate, and placed it in front of himself.

Wen Jiaojiao looked completely bewildered, her hand holding the chopsticks frozen in mid-air. When she saw the older woman wearing an apron bringing out the third dish, she stood up without hesitation and waited.

"I refuse to believe that I won't get a single bite this time."

Suddenly, a woman took the dish and, before anyone else could even pick up their chopsticks, dumped it directly into the lard basin under the table, looking rather embarrassed.

“My parents haven’t eaten yet. I saw that this dish was rotten, so I took it back for them to eat.”

Wen Jiaojiao sat down in great shock, glanced under the table, and her pupils widened in astonishment:

Good heavens, some carried lard basins, others carried live flour basins, and one even carried a huge bucket of water.

While she was taking a look around, she successfully missed the fourth and fifth dishes, and with the previous woman setting an example, several people had already started unabashedly pouring the food into basins and buckets.

Wen Zhaoye sat at the table next to her, observing her every move and expression. A look of barely suppressed amusement appeared on his handsome face: "..."

You could starve to death even if food was placed right in front of you.

A man who was talking to him noticed that he didn't answer, followed his gaze, and casually offered some advice:

"Why are you looking at her? Drink up."

Wen Jiaojiao perked up and waited for her eldest sister to come over with the sixth dish, braised pork belly with preserved mustard greens.

Then, to my surprise, I saw a woman whisper something in the big-nosed boy's ear.

Then, before the plate was even placed on the table, the big-nosed boy spat into it...

And because of the excessive force, the nostrils trembled slightly.

Her face was ashen; she slammed down her chopsticks and said irritably:

"Is this how you eat? Huh? Haven't you eaten in your eight lifetimes? I'm so angry! You haven't even touched oil with your chopsticks yet. I can understand you bringing bowls and buckets, but at least wait until you're finished eating before you pour it out. What are you doing?"

The woman who made the child spit said sarcastically:

"How can we compare to you? You have a big boss at home, and you never lack food or drink."

Ignoring the various gazes directed at her, Wen Jiaojiao glared at her and said:

"My family also gave gifts, there's no reason why we shouldn't get a bite to eat. Are you here to watch your child spit in the food?"

The woman rolled her eyes and said:

"I didn't teach him. My child is only six years old. What could he possibly understand? Why are you arguing with a child? Your mind is smaller than the eye of a pin."

Wen Jiaojiao sat on the bench, arms crossed, and gave a cold warning:

“I’m just a 240-month-old baby. If I throw up every dish that comes out, no one will have a problem with that, right? If everyone is not well-behaved, then no one should eat.”

The other woman, who had never seen her before, sized her up and, thinking that the one dressed longer was probably clean, didn't object and said:

"Go ahead and throw up, it won't affect our eating."

“You…” Wen Jiaojiao looked at her in shock, not knowing what to say for a moment.

Wen Zhaoye observed her for a long time before finally speaking up, "Come and sit down."

Wen Jiaojiao sighed inwardly, realizing that she was no match for this group of people.

She obediently walked over and sat in the seat the man next to her had given up, looking at the table full of dishes that had barely been touched:

"As expected, not everyone has good manners."

Upon hearing this, Wen Zhaoye raised an eyebrow and continued talking to the others.

A man next to her grabbed an extra glass, poured himself a beer, and handed it to Wen Jiaojiao, saying:

"Come on, have a drink. It's so hot outside, the beer is soaked in well water. After drinking it, you'll feel better."

The beer bubbled and overflowed the rim of the glass, dripping onto Wen Jiaojiao's hand, the coolness gradually spreading.

She had never drunk alcohol before and was terrified of getting drunk and being dragged away, so she withdrew her hand and refused:

"No, I don't like to drink it."

The man insisted on pushing the cup back to her, saying magnanimously:

"You're being modest again. Everyone knows you like to have a drink when it's hot at home."

Wen Zhaoye took the large cup and placed it in front of her:

"Have a drink, it's so hot outside."

Under the blazing sun, with no shade around the courtyard, the steaming food further increased the temperature by several degrees.

Wen Jiaojiao's forehead was covered in sweat, and her body was extremely hot. Thinking that drinking a little bit wouldn't hurt, she picked up the cup and took a small sip.

The coolness exploded in my mouth, a refreshing feeling swept over me, and I couldn't help but start gulping it down.

A pale yellow liquid spilled from the corner of her lips before she could swallow, sliding down her fair neck, creating a rather alluring scene.

Wen Zhaoye kept his eyes on her the whole time, and he swallowed hard without even realizing it. He then picked up the bottle of baijiu and downed it in one gulp.

Wen Jiaojiao didn't notice anything unusual in her brain, so she relaxed and drank several more cups.

Wen Zhaoye was talking to someone for a while when suddenly, the person next to him fell straight backward. His face turned pale, and he quickly reached out to catch him, saying worriedly:

"Jiaojiao, what's wrong?"

Wen Jiaojiao's mind was a jumbled mess, impossible to unravel. Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes, shimmering and hazy, gazed at him as she rambled on intoxicatedly:

"Handsome guy, who are you?"

handsome guy?

The people around her paused, staring at her in astonishment.
