Chapter 63 What happened between me and her?

"I'll take you to the hospital."

Wen Zhaoye frowned, and without daring to delay, he picked her up and carried her home at a brisk pace.

Wen Jiaojiao knew the clinic's medical skills and was afraid they would perform bone setting without warning. Her face stiffened, she stopped sobbing, and said seriously:

"No need for that. Just buy me two plasters, I can just apply them, or some liniment for sprains and bruises will do. I don't want to go to the hospital." Otherwise, you might really make me crippled.

Wen Zhaoye didn't quite understand her, but he still patiently comforted her:

"It's better to go to the hospital to get it checked out. After the bone is set, you'll rest for a few days and it will be completely healed. Otherwise, if you're like this every day, you'll suffer too."

“I’d rather suffer like this than go. I’m not going anyway. Applying the medicated wine may be slow, but I’m not afraid.”

Wen Jiaojiao's refusal to go to the hospital was exceptionally firm, forcing Wen Zhaoye to compromise:

"Okay, then I won't go."

Wen Jiaojiao nestled in his arms, and when he looked up ahead, a hint of smugness appeared on her pouting lips: "..."

Is this a villain?

How could they be so easily fooled?

I'll have to take a break for a month or two now, won't I?

Just in time, all the farm work at home will be finished.

Xu Cuifen was sitting by the well washing clothes when she saw Wen Jiaojiao being carried back from afar.

She jumped to her feet in a panic, not even bothering to wash the soap off her hands, her voice filled with immense worry:

"Honey, what happened? Did you get bitten by a snake?"

Before the two could say anything more, Xu Cuifen pointed at Wen Zhaoye's nose and started cursing:

“I told you my daughter was destined for wealth and couldn’t do farm work, but you insisted on making her. I think you’re trying to kill my daughter.”

Wen Zhaoye ignored her and put Wen Jiaojiao on the bed. Wen Jiaojiao chimed in:

"Mom, that's not how it is. I just tripped and fell while walking. My foot hurts a little, and my brother carried me back."

Xu Cuifen showed no embarrassment whatsoever for having just falsely accused Wen Zhaoye, and breathed a sigh of relief, saying:

"Then Mom will find you a traditional Chinese medicine doctor to take a look."

Wen Zhaoye turned on the electric fan and walked outside.

"No need, I'll go buy her some medicine."

Wen Jiaojiao leaned against the headboard and took off her straw hat, saying:

"Mom, stop talking about my brother. He's actually a good guy."

Xu Cuifen sat on the edge of the bed, slowly and carefully helping her take off her shoes, feeling both heartache and anger.

"You two have already done *that*, and I want you to be with him, but you don't want to. I've said something to him, but you still don't want to. Honey, just tell me, what do you want?"

Just as Wen Jiaojiao was about to speak, a deep voice suddenly came from the doorway:

What happened between me and her?

Wen Jiaojiao's face paled instantly. She looked up in a panic and saw Wen Zhaoye staring intently at her.

Her breathing trembled, her pupils dilated rapidly: "..."

Oh no, I don't even know if I can get out of bed and run away in time.

Wen Zhaoye's mind was filled with their intimate moments in the cabin. His lips were tightly pressed together, his heart pounding in his chest. He urgently needed an answer and urged, "..."

"Speak quickly."

Xu Cuifen, being a woman of considerable experience, only panicked for a moment. Just as Wen Jiaojiao was about to speak, she rolled her eyes and said irritably:

"Didn't she push you onto the bed and kiss you the night before last? Aunt Pang already told me that you two had kissed, and you still won't take responsibility? What's the difference between you and a hooligan?"

Wen Jiaojiao's heart, which had been in her throat, settled down again, and she spoke first:

"Mom, it was all an accident. My brother is so outstanding, I shouldn't have ruined him. Don't say that again."

Xu Cuifen gave her a disappointed look, after all, her reputation wasn't good now.

When you go out to look for something, it's always something with flaws or shortcomings, while the one at home is perfect in every way. Yet, people don't seem to know how to seize the opportunity.

Although she was filled with apprehension, she dared not say it aloud, and could only say tactfully, "You child, you are just ignorant. What a wonderful man he is."

Just as Wen Jiaojiao was about to speak, a very solemn voice came to her ear:

“I can take responsibility, as long as she agrees to one condition.”

Wen Jiaojiao thought she had misheard and looked at him in disbelief.

Seeing that he didn't seem to be joking, she waved her hands anxiously and said in a flustered manner:

"No need for that. I can't hurt you. You deserve better."

Xu Cuifen was so happy she almost clapped and cheered, excitedly saying:

"Zhaoye, you're right to think that way. You've already kissed, how can you not take responsibility?"

Seeing that Wen Zhaoye was about to speak again, and fearing that if she was forced to marry him now, he might later take revenge on her when he matured, she quickly said:

"Stop! Hold on! Let's just let this go. I know my own worth. I'm not good enough for my brother at all, and I don't aspire to be his wife." He's just a good person. In this day and age, if we were to get married, I'd probably have to keep having children while dodging the one-child policy.

Wen Zhaoye lowered his eyes and pondered for a moment, assuming she was feeling inferior, and immediately spoke up to express his thoughts:

"Actually, I volunteered to take responsibility, it's just that..."

Halfway through her sentence, Wen Jiaojiao interrupted again with lightning speed:

"Please, have some decency! My reputation in the village is already bad enough."

Besides, I don't want to face a choice. Even if I agree to the conditions you ask me to agree to now, I don't know if I'll regret it later.

So for everyone's sake, go about your business as usual and don't mention this matter again.

She finished speaking in one breath, then took a deep breath to calm her body, which had nearly died from lack of oxygen.

Seeing such a good opportunity slip away again, Xu Cuifen said with worry, "Daughter..."
