Chapter 96 Two Wen Jiaojiao Meet

Wang Fang, fearing he wouldn't be able to persuade Li Youqin, said anxiously:

"Really? I saw it with my own eyes, how could it be fake? You can't have her, otherwise I'll be in danger of dying if I live with her."

That day, I saw her kissing that guy so hard he had nowhere to hide. With my physique, how could I possibly beat her? I'm sure she'll get her way sooner or later.

Li Youqin is a typical mother who doesn't mind her son's appearance; she thinks her son is perfect in every way. After hesitating for a moment, she made her decision:

"Here's what we'll do: go upstairs and stay there. Don't show up here too often in the future. Also, remember to lock the door when you go to bed at night and barricade it with a table. I don't believe she can get away with it again."

Wang Fangxiao's eyes narrowed into slits as he walked upstairs: "Okay, don't forget to bring my food up later."

Wen Jiaojiao overheard this outrageous conversation between the two while serving the dishes, and she almost ground her teeth to powder. She glanced at Wang Fang, cursing inwardly:

With looks like that, even if I were blind and touched her with my hands, I still couldn't bring myself to kiss her. Did Fish Leong give you the courage to say something like that?

I think I'll go back and spend another night here, and go to work at the hair salon tomorrow.

Just then, a woman's voice came from the doorway: "Give me a tomato rice bowl."

Wen Jiaojiao's attention was interrupted, and she casually looked up. Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks, her pupils trembling slightly.

The woman wore heavy makeup and exuded a tired and listless aura, but upon closer inspection, her features were almost identical to hers.

She sat at the table by the door with a furrowed brow and annoyed expression, not looking at Wen Jiaojiao, quietly smoking a cheap cigarette.

Although Li Youqin had seen her frequently in the past two months, she had never seen Yuan Wenjiao without makeup. Therefore, with her heavy makeup, she only felt that they looked somewhat alike.

She didn't take it seriously, replied enthusiastically, and called out the name of the dish to Wang Hai, who was flipping a wok in the kitchen.

A sense of guilt arose in Wen Jiaojiao's heart. Although she had endured all the scorn for her for a long time, she had still, in a way, usurped her family's place and enjoyed their love.

She put down her plate, grabbed a mask from beside the cashier, put it on, and ignoring Li Youqin's calls, walked up to Wen Jiaojiao and said:

Can I talk to you?

Yuan Wenjiao exhaled wisps of smoke from her red lips, glanced at her casually, and scoffed:

"I don't know you, stop bothering me. I have to go to work after I finish eating."

Wen Jiaojiao knew her character fairly well, so she wasn't surprised by these words. She hesitated for a moment before speaking:

"I'll give you the money. Do you have time to talk to me for a bit?"

A glint of shrewdness flashed in Yuan Wenjiao's eyes. She raised her hand to touch her wavy curls, then looked her up and down and said:

"Sure, but you have to pay first."

Wen Jiaojiao decisively took out five yuan and handed it to her, saying:

"Let's talk outside."

Yuan Wenjiao took the money with her fingertips painted with rosy cinnamon, and followed her outside. She leaned lazily against the wall, her tone laced with arrogance:

"Let's talk about what we want to talk about. I have limited time, and you can't ask me many questions with just five yuan."

Looking at her mercenary demeanor, Wen Jiaojiao's initial intention to call Xu Cuifen to find someone gradually faded.

I think I should try to understand her thoughts first; otherwise, if I resolutely do that thing, I might end up not getting any benefit and causing unpleasantness for all parties involved.

She thought for a moment and then said, "Judging from your appearance, you should be able to move around freely, so why don't you go home? Your mother misses you very much."

A flicker of surprise crossed Wen Jiaojiao's eyes as she looked at her more closely. However, Wen Jiaojiao was wearing a mask, and her eyes held a clear, innocent look.

She didn't think of anything else and said bluntly, "I don't even know you, how do you know me?"

Wen Jiaojiao pursed her lips, her eyes filled with anxiety as she said:

"You don't need to worry about that. Just answer my question first. I know you ran off with the family's money."

If you're afraid of getting beaten by your brother or scolded by the villagers because of this, you can rest assured. These days, almost no one mentions it anymore.

Your mother really misses you and treats you very well. Besides, I heard Xu Dajun isn't very nice to you either. Why do you still insist on staying with him? Don't you know how to go home?

"We've already run away, we never thought about going back in a sorry state. Besides, what's so great about home? I told my mom a long time ago not to get married, but she insisted."

It's making me feel really uncomfortable at home. Even though I get money from the factory every day, that brat still acts all high and mighty.

And that old man, he's always clinging to my mom, even breaking a cookie in half for her, doesn't he find it disgustingly cloying?

Even so, my mom can remarry, but I'm already in my twenties. If I find a partner or take a fancy to a man, she'll constantly try to control me.

They actually want me to marry that jerk I can't stand; the thought makes me want to vomit.

"And if she hadn't interfered in my affairs in the first place, I might be doing quite well with Wang Jin from the next village, instead of living this miserable life with Xu Dajun."

Wen Jiaojiao realized that she had completely misinterpreted everyone's good intentions. A look of anxiety crossed her face as she explained:

"Among all the men you've dated, is any of them normal? It's understandable that your mother objects.

Furthermore, the fact that his dad shared half of the cookies with your mom shows that he genuinely cares for her. The couple has a good relationship, shouldn't you be happy for your mom?

And your mom saves all the good food and drinks for you, and your dad always sides with you. What more could you want?

I refuse to believe that your current life is any more comfortable than it was at home.

Yuan Wenjiao's face turned extremely ugly. She didn't believe what she said was right at all, and even loathed her for it. She snorted coldly:

"What kind of wicked idea are you plotting? Which couple doesn't argue or fight? I've only ever heard of people advising reconciliation, not separation, but I've never seen anyone like you who's so determined to separate us."

This is even more bizarre than Wen Damei. At least Wen Damei was after the city people who had jobs, but this woman is after a woman who can fight well.

Wen Jiaojiao was stunned for a moment, then swallowed hard and tentatively asked, "Are you sure you're not going back?"

Yuan Wenjiao crossed her arms, a cigarette between her fingers, and rolled her eyes, saying:

"I'm not going back. I'll follow my husband wherever he goes. Now I go to work and sing, and Dajun takes care of the kids. We're doing pretty well."
