Chapter 15 Where there are forests and fields, there is a paradise of happiness.

Lin Ye stood up as if he had been electrocuted. He had touched a place he shouldn't have. Would she be angry?

But then he saw Lu Wanqing wave the towel, seemingly unaffected, and say with a smile, "All done."

He breathed a sigh of relief, made an excuse to get a drink of water, and escaped the stuffy room.

Lu Wanqing chuckled to herself, surprised that Lin Ye was still so innocent at this moment. He had only touched her chest once, and his face turned as red as a monkey's bottom.

Such a touch was nothing more than a drizzle in their previous life; they had done countless more intimate things together.

Lu Wanqing knew that Lin Ye's shyness proved that he was interested in her. Since they were going to be a long-term couple anyway, she didn't need to rush things.

She lay down, feeling quite content.

After a while, Lin Ye came in, blew out the kerosene lamp, and lay down next to her.

She draped half of the blanket over him, but he pushed it away, saying, "It's hot, I don't need to cover myself!"

His voice was deep and hoarse, like the soft murmur of a cello.

Lu Wanqing ignored him and curled up closer to him.

Feeling her breathing gradually become steady and even, he murmured to himself, "Wife, are you really going to live in the countryside? We rented this land for two years, are you only going to stay by my side for two years? With you lying next to me... I feel so happy..."

He lay in the darkness, his head resting on his hand, eyes wide open, thinking for a long time... and unconsciously grinned for a long time as well...

The next morning, Lu Wanqing was woken up by Wang Xiuqin's cursing.

It was probably already late morning, but Lin Gou Dan still hadn't gotten up. Wang Xiu Qin, not wanting to spoil him anymore, scolded him and told him to hurry up and go to work.

Without Lin Ye's help, they had to work harder themselves. If Lin Gou Dan continued to be so lazy, their family would starve.

"Mom, just say it, why did you hit me? It hurts, it hurts! I'm going to work right now!" Lin Gou Dan begged for mercy, covering his reddened ear.

Damn it, what a heartless mother! Wait till she gets old, and I'll see how I torment her!

He resented his mother for not spending her money despite having it, and for making him work instead.

It's because they see their neighbors buying so many things and they're feeling resentful!

Their commotion made it impossible for Lu Wanqing to sleep.

When I got up, I found that my mother-in-law had already gotten up and gone out to play with Xueqiu.

On the table was a bowl covered with a plate; even without lifting the plate, a rich aroma could be smelled.

After Lin Ye finished cooking, he went to work.

She quickly washed up and couldn't wait to pick up the bowl of golden fried rice.

Lin Ye coated the leftover rice from yesterday with egg liquid, stirred it well, and fried it. He also added pork cracklings, making it incredibly fragrant. Halfway through eating, there was still half a poached egg in it, sizzling and steaming hot.

Lu Wanqing held up a bowl of rice while watching her mother-in-law and Xueqiu playing in the yard.

A morning breeze whispers in my ears, carrying the crisp chirping of birds. Dappled sunlight filters through the sparse leaves, bathing me in a colorful garment.

Such days were incomparable to the bustling cities of my previous life.

She fell in love with this place!

Where there are forests and fields, there is a paradise of happiness.

After dinner, Lu Wanqing packed the three colors of fabric she had bought yesterday and the patterns she had drawn into a cloth bag, along with a can of malted milk powder, before setting off with Zhao Xiaolan and Xueqiu.

Aunt Luo's house is relatively close to the village entrance. To get to her house, the narrow path winds and turns, and it takes more than 20 minutes.

In the fields I passed by, many people were working.

The rice has reached the heading stage, and all the weeds in the field must be cleared before harvesting. The barnyard grass mixed in with the rice looks very similar to the rice, but it greatly affects the quality of the grains and also needs to be removed.

Lin Ye was always assigned to the most remote areas, so they never encountered any.

Zhao Xiaolan hadn't traveled far from home in a long time, only once when she went to He Shujuan's house with Wang Xiuqin. She felt a little apprehensive about the unknown future where she could no longer see her home after just one turn.

Lu Wanqing took out a White Rabbit milk candy from her pocket, unwrapped it, and put it in her mouth, coaxing her, "We're going to make clothes for you and Lin Ye. We'll be going quite far, so don't be afraid. Xueqiu will protect you."

Zhao Xiaolan was no longer afraid and happily followed behind her with the candy in her mouth.

Along the way, many women, when they straightened up and looked up to rest, saw Zhao Xiaolan carrying a snow-white puppy and following behind her daughter-in-law. They all laughed at her, saying, "Lin Ye's mother, how come you've become your daughter-in-law's little follower now?"

"Lin Ye's mother, be careful your wife doesn't take you out and sell you!"

Elaine Chao was still smiling smugly: "I have White Rabbit milk candy to eat, do you have any?"

"My daughter-in-law makes clothes for me, do you?"

The women's faces turned green. Was Zhao Xiaolan faking her madness?

They can't even afford a sip of sugar water, let alone White Rabbit milk candy. Making clothes? Even if they had money to buy fabric, they'd prioritize making clothes for the men in the family first!

Zhao Xiaolan has really hit the jackpot this time. Her son married a city girl, and she's providing her with food and new clothes. My goodness, I didn't notice earlier, but her skin is amazing now, so smooth and porcelain white. She has two long braids and looks like a young maiden.

Wang Xiuqin, who was working in another field not far away, looked down at her rough hands and saw the commotion over there. The more she worked, the angrier she became. While weeding, she mistook the rice seedlings for barnyard grass and pulled them out.

When she came to her senses and was about to secretly stomp the rice seedlings into the mud, the scorekeeper grabbed her arm.

"Do you even have a brain? You can't tell the difference between rice and straw! Your work points for today are halved!"
