Chapter 292 Buying Bell-Bottoms

On the train bound for Guangzhou, the aisles were packed with people, and an unpleasant smell permeated the air.

Lu Wanqing specially obtained a certificate to buy a sleeper berth. This carriage was managed by staff and was relatively spacious, but the toilets and hot water dispensers were still crowded with people.

At that time, there weren't many trains, and the capacity was limited. People could only travel on a few trains, so they had no choice but to squeeze in.

After enduring more than forty hours, Lu Wanqing finally arrived at her destination and felt a moment of comfort, but she still couldn't escape the fate of being squeezed.

Fortunately, she is now in an unfamiliar environment, and she can store her things in the space, so no one will suspect her.

The train station in Guangzhou is indeed much more spacious than the one in Beijing, and the passenger flow is several times greater.

Those who first sensed the business opportunity flocked from all directions, and she easily found out where to source the clothing.

Currently, Guangzhou only has one large clothing wholesale market, called Shisanjie (Thirteenth Street).

Without taking a break, she headed straight for 13th Street.

She had visited Guangzhou before, but it had only been developing for a decade or two, and was now a city of skyscrapers. It was still in the initial stages of development, and the streets were still quite dilapidated.

Following the map she bought for 50 cents at the train station, she found the original bus stop and asked around to catch the bus that went directly to 13th Street.

Everything was new and exciting. On the bus, she looked at the scenery of Guangzhou and found that there were still many more tall buildings here than in Beijing.

A new city under construction, a city that will soon be envied by people all over the country.

Just as her attention was drawn to the crowd and she got off the bus, she suddenly felt as if an extra hand had appeared in her pocket.

She turned around sharply, only to find the thief leaving dejectedly.

Hmph~ I don't have a single penny in my pocket!

The next one or two decades will be a period of rapid development for Guangzhou, but also a period of rampant thieves and robbers.

Many first-time visitors to Guangzhou have their money stolen or robbed, leaving them in a very sorry state.

Don't rely on the police; there are too many cases, and they simply can't handle them all.

Lu Wanqing was glad that she was dressed as a man, otherwise she didn't know how many people would be watching her.

When she arrived at 13th Street, she learned that there were not many clothes left to ship at the wholesale market that afternoon, and the newest and best styles had already been snapped up.

Ah Biao saw him wandering around alone, occasionally asking about prices at the stalls, and recognized her Beijing accent.

"Brother, are you here to buy goods too? I just got off the train not long ago. It's unfortunate that we're here at this time; we'll have to wait until tomorrow for new stock," A-Biao said, striking up a conversation.

Lu Wanqing gave a cold laugh: "Is that so? Then I'll come again tomorrow morning."

"Want to grab a bite together?" We're from the same hometown; it's always good to have another friend when you're away from home.

"No, thank you." Lu Wanqing refused decisively and strode towards the market exit.

In her eyes, Ah Biao was a good-for-nothing and not worth associating with at all, and besides, it was more convenient for her to be alone.

She came out of 13th Street and it took her a lot of effort to find a quiet corner in the bustling street.

A simple meal cooked in a small space is better than eating out.

She doesn't need to go to the guesthouse at night and can get a good night's sleep.

Ah Biao, who struck up a conversation with her, could only spend two yuan to find a poorly equipped guesthouse nearby and sleep in a dormitory with other people. If he wanted to sleep in a private bed, he would have to spend another two yuan.

The food wasn't too expensive, just a little more expensive than in Beijing, but things like rice noodle rolls didn't really suit his taste.

This was the first time he had gone out to buy goods, and he was prepared to endure hardship.

He even considered the possibility of the money he was carrying being stolen, so he sewed it onto his underwear.

Fortunately, the weather wasn't too hot, and with a jacket on, you couldn't tell that his crotch was bulging.

Anyway, he's a rough guy, so he's not afraid of losing face.

If he were afraid of losing face, he wouldn't have gone to the capital to stay with relatives, and he wouldn't have earned more than five thousand yuan by setting up a stall.

This time, he was thinking of turning his life around by reselling bell-bottoms and no longer having to depend on his relatives.

As for reselling bell-bottoms, he figured it out himself after hearing about it from relatives.

Others may lack the resources or the courage, but he does!

At worst, it'll just mean a bit more hardship. But the thought of getting rich makes all the hardship seem insignificant.

Despite the noise, he fell asleep.

The next morning, Lu Wanqing came out of her spatial dimension at six o'clock, put the money in a small bag, placed it close to her body in her pocket, and walked towards the market.

By this time, the market was already packed with people, especially the women's clothing stalls, where the latest styles were in high demand and people would rush to buy them as soon as they were put out.

Lu Wanqing looked at the styles, which were similar to her own designs, smiled slightly, and walked towards the bell-bottoms stall.

Bell-bottoms come in many varieties; some have large floral patterns, while others have small ones. The opening at the hem also varies in size.

Some of the loudspeakers were ridiculously large, the kind that only street urchins would buy; she didn't plan to stock too many of them.

"Boss, how much is this?" Lu Wanqing asked, picking up a pair of slightly flared trousers with floral patterns.

The boss was a woman in her thirties with dark reddish-brown skin from sun and rain. She had a bag hanging from her waist, greeted her with a smile, and said quickly:

"Minimum order of 10 pieces, 50 yuan per piece. You can get a 2 yuan discount for 50 pieces and a 5 yuan discount for 100 pieces."

Ah Biao wandered around and happened to pass by this stall. He saw Lu Wanqing asking about the price and was attracted to it.

"Boss, can you make it cheaper? This young man and I are both from Beijing, so we're definitely going to offer more than a hundred!"

Ah Biao started bargaining and offering a refund.

Lu Wanqing wasn't particularly fond of his overly familiar manner, but since she thought it would be good to get a discount, she listened with a smile.

The boss chuckled awkwardly.

"Brother, you can't possibly order five hundred pieces at once, can you? If you do, I can give you a two-dollar discount."

Wholesale stalls like hers are usually run by husband and wife, with at least one of them having a relationship with the manufacturer.

Anyway, she gets her goods directly from the manufacturer, so she tries to sell as many as possible. If she sells a lot of goods, she can still make money.

Upon hearing her words, A Biao's expression changed. He only had enough money for a little over a hundred items, and he doubted that Lu Wanqing, who looked delicate and fair-skinned, could handle the remaining items.

He looked at Lu Wanqing somewhat timidly.

Lu Wanqing wiped her nose and smiled:

"No problem, I want two thousand pieces."

"What?" Ah Biao's legs immediately went weak with fear.

In his limited understanding, he never imagined that someone would take out so much money to do business at once.

The boss was also a bit confused, and quickly called her husband.

"Master, a big spender has arrived."

A man came out wearing flip-flops, looking rather nonchalant.

"What? All five hundred pieces of clothing were sold in one go today?"

He sorts goods in the warehouse, receiving 500 items from the factory every day, a task he starts at 4 a.m. every day.

If you're lucky, you can sell out of stock in the morning.

However, when he heard that Lu Wanqing wanted two thousand pieces at once, he still staggered.
