Chapter 489 The Mysterious Chief Goes Crazy

Chapter 489 The Mysterious Chief Goes Crazy

Among these guards, there was one who stood out from the rest. Although he seemed to be deliberately trying to minimize his presence, Tang Yue still recognized him at a glance.

The soldier who was respected by everyone stood tall and straight, and his every move exuded an aura of majesty without anger, which was completely different from the panic of ordinary soldiers.

He often stood in the shadows, occasionally raising his hand to signal, and the soldiers beside him would immediately understand and whisper their orders. The moonlight cast a cold outline on his face, and the vigilance in his eyes never faded.

Tang Yue never thought that the American army was full of good-for-nothings. However, she felt that she was not bad either, so if she went against this man, of course, this officer would lose.

Yes, she could tell at a glance that this tall and straight soldier was definitely not an ordinary soldier. He was really smart and knew that the entire Base No. 5 was in chaos.

And this chaos is likely created by the enemy. So what will the enemy do at this time? Without a doubt, decapitation is definitely a good option.

Therefore, he cleverly changed into the clothes of an ordinary soldier, so that he could blend in with the ordinary soldiers and reduce his presence, making it difficult for the enemy to find him. At the same time, he could stand on the front line and know the situation here first.

But he overlooked many details, or rather, he knew all of them. He just didn't want to be completely like an ordinary soldier, so he saw the awe of the big-head soldiers and felt a little proud in his heart.

Furthermore, his authority could not be challenged; even if they were dressed alike, others had to obey. Furthermore, he might have underestimated the enemy's ability to discern, believing he had reached the pinnacle. A mere yellow-skinned Chinese would never be able to detect the flaws.

Tang Yue took a deep breath and decided not to wait any longer. Since he was so confident, why wouldn't Tang Yue strike him down? Watching the enemy's confidence shatter inch by inch seemed like a common occurrence for the US military.

She flashed and ghosted around to the back of the armory. She discovered that there was a blind spot where the guards patrolled every 15 minutes. She carefully avoided the scattered debris on the ground and made no sound.

Just as she was about to scale the wall, she heard the sound of light footsteps overhead. A chill welled up in her heart, and she immediately clung to the wall, not breathing. She still wanted to give the officer a big gift, but now was not the time to show up.

A patrolman walked over slowly, mumbling something. Tang Yue held her breath and quietly reached for the dagger at her waist.

The patrolman came closer and closer, and the firelight in the distance illuminated his face. Tang Yue could clearly see the stubble on his face and the tired expression.

At the moment the patrolman was about to turn and leave, Tang Yue suddenly leaped up, covered his mouth with one hand, and with the other hand, accurately stabbed the dagger into his heart. The patrolman's eyes widened, his body twitched a few times, and then he collapsed.

Tang Yue quickly dragged the body to a corner and wiped the blood off the dagger. She peered into the armory through her consciousness, which was filled with a variety of guns, ammunition, rocket launchers, and grenades, all gleaming with a cold metallic sheen under the dim light.

She concentrated her mind and stored all the weapons in the armory into the space at once.

Just as she finished collecting all the weapons, there was a sudden commotion up ahead. The mysterious commander, seemingly aware of something unusual, led a group of soldiers towards the rear of the armory.

Tang Yue took her time, knowing her actions might have been exposed. She immediately went invisible. Now was not the time to play cat and mouse with this officer. The entire base was in chaos, and she still had many important things to do.

The mysterious commander looked around as soon as he arrived. Even though he found nothing, he still didn't give up. He ordered all soldiers to conduct a carpet search behind the armory. The sound of boots grinding on gravel mixed with the soldiers' heavy breathing was particularly harsh in the dead air.

His eyes scanned every corner like a hawk. The beam of the flashlight pierced the darkness, but it only illuminated the lifeless body of the patrolman in the corner.

After several thorough searches, nothing was found. "Sir, no suspicious individuals are around!" the soldier's voice froze the air.

The commander's eyebrows twitched violently. He bent down and approached the corpse, his fingertips stroking the neat knife wound on the dead man's neck. A chill crawled up his spine - the man who could kill a well-trained soldier silently must be no ordinary person.

He stood up suddenly, swallowing his anxiety with a rolling Adam's apple, and waved his hand: "Enter the armory!"

The moment the metal door was pushed open, a cold smell of engine oil hit him. The officer's pupils narrowed slightly in the dim light, and his eyes subconsciously swept across the familiar shelves—they should have been filled with shiny guns, bazookas with a cold blue glow, and neatly arranged grenade boxes.

But at this moment, the empty iron shelves were glowing palely under the light, like a bunch of mocking mouths.

The officer's steps suddenly became unsteady, and the flashlight fell to the ground with a clang, the beam flickering around in the empty warehouse. In the flickering light of the fire outside, the situation in the weapons depot was clearly visible.

He staggered and held onto the shelf beside him, and the metal shelf groaned under his weight.

"Impossible..." His voice seemed to be squeezed out from the deepest part of his chest, with a broken tremor. Just an hour ago, he had personally inspected this place. The serial number of each gun and the placement of each bullet were deeply imprinted in his mind.

Those cold steel weapons are the last line of defense of Base No. 5. They are his bargaining chips for seeking credit from the headquarters, and they are also the basis for his confidence in controlling the situation.

His nails dug deep into his palms, blood dripping through his fingers, but he was completely unaware. He began to review the situation.

After the explosion, after the initial period of confusion, he calmly changed into a soldier's uniform and began to command from the dark. Thinking of the importance of the armory, he rushed to inspect the armory as soon as possible, and everything was still fine at that time.

But now, all the weapons have disappeared, as if it were an absurd nightmare.

"Who is it..." He suddenly roared, his voice echoing in the empty warehouse, startling the soldiers.

He turned around and grabbed the collar of the soldier closest to him, his eyes bloodshot. "Which of you was last in the armory? Tell me!" The soldier's face turned purple from being strangled, and he stammered, "Sir...Sir, there are always guards on duty. We haven't been in here, and we haven't noticed..."

Before he could finish his words, the officer had already shaken him off and stumbled deeper into the warehouse.

He frantically searched every corner, as if trying to pull the weapon back from thin air. Cold sweat slid down his forehead, dripping onto the soldier's uniform that he was so proud of, leaving dark marks.

He suddenly thought of the mysterious "goddess" in the rumors and the terrifying descriptions of the enemy's elusive appearances, and his back was instantly soaked with cold sweat.

"Blockade! The base must be blocked! Now! Immediately! Find, find that goddess!" He roared and rushed out of the door, with unprecedented fear in his voice.

He knew that the loss of the armory would not only mean the collapse of his defenses, but also the demise of all his carefully planned plans. And at this moment, those all-seeing eyes in the darkness were perhaps observing his embarrassment, watching his confidence shatter like glass.

Tang Yue's lips curled slightly. He couldn't handle it anymore? There were even more devastating things waiting for him. However, he couldn't see them anymore. Tang Yue didn't waste any more time and attacked these people directly.

Tang Yue lurked in the shadows, moving like a ghost through the corners of the armory. The mysterious commander's roar faded, but the tense atmosphere inside, still tinged with the soldiers' nervous whispers and pacing footsteps, seemed poised to break at any moment.

She narrowed her eyes and locked onto the soldier closest to her.
