Chapter 491 Lu Ye is in danger

491

Chang Yin carried the unconscious Fei Shuwen on his back as he and Tang Shengkai shuttled through the ruins of Base No. 5. The base was in ruins after the explosion, with sporadic gunshots and the screams of Americans emanating from the broken walls.

The air was filled with pungent gunpowder smoke, the smell of burning, and the sickening smell of blood, and every breath seemed to burn their throats.

Finally, they found a seemingly safe room. The door was ajar, and inside, it was silent. Chang Yin and Tang Shengkai exchanged a glance and nodded in tacit understanding. Tang Shengkai, dagger in hand, cautiously pushed the door open.

Inside the house, two American soldiers were vigilantly guarding the communication equipment. Before they could react, Tang Shengkai's dagger had accurately pierced one of them's throat, and Chang Yin quickly pounced on the other and broke his neck with his bare hands.

The whole process was clean and neat, without any unnecessary noise.

They quickly placed Fei Shuwen on a simple bed in the corner and began to search the room for medicine. Fortunately, they found a first aid kit in a cabinet.

Chang Yin expertly treated Fei Shuwen's wound, disinfecting, applying medicine, and bandaging it, each movement quick and simple. Tang Shengkai stood at the door, vigilantly watching his surroundings for any sudden enemy appearances.

Even after Fei Shuwen had been given the medicine, Base 5 remained in chaos. The distant explosions and gunfire showed no signs of abating, but instead grew more intense.

Chang Yin looked at the unconscious Fei Shuwen, his heart full of worry, but he knew that this was not the time to hesitate.

"Old Fei, let's put him here for now. We have to hurry and act." Chang Yin said to Tang Shengkai, "There are sporadic gunshots in the base. Judging from the sounds, it should be the US military themselves. They can't be shooting at their own people. It should be Tang Yue who is leading the troops here."

Tang Shengkai was a little anxious when he heard this. "It's not even the agreed time yet, how could this child come early..." At this point, Tang Shengkai shook his head. Didn't he know about his own daughter? When did he ever play by the rules?

A rare smile flashed across Chang Yin's eyes. "Tang Yue must be carrying out a decapitation operation. We can't fall behind, so let's start now. However, we have to go to the weapons depot first. We have to take it down!"

Tang Shengkai gripped the weapon tightly in his hand and nodded firmly: "Let's go!"

The two men cautiously walked out of the room and along the dimly lit corridor. It was pitch black, with only the occasional flash of emergency lights illuminating their path. With every step, they were highly alert, ready to respond to any possible danger.

As they approached the armory, the smell of gunpowder grew stronger. Chang Yin signaled Tang Shengkai to stop, and the two of them hid in a corner, observing the situation in the armory. The armory was now silent, a stark contrast to the chaos and occasional gunfire elsewhere.

Chang Yin quickly flashed to the door of the armory, only to see that the door was ajar. Chang Yin keenly smelled the bloody smell. Chang Yin gently pushed the door open and used the firelight to see the situation inside the armory.

All the weapons in the armory were gone, and the bodies of twenty or so American soldiers lay scattered on the ground. Chang Yin didn't go in. Besides the little girl, no one else could have done such a clean job.

Alas, it was a step too late after all. However, with the little girl here, their actions became simpler. Putting aside other things, the fact that the American soldiers had no weapons was something Chang Yin found very interesting.

"How's it going?" Tang Shengkai asked quickly when he saw Chang Yin approaching. Although the storage ring his daughter had given him was quite spacious, that was based on his own perception. In reality, it couldn't hold much.

The one in Chang Yin's hand should be the largest storage device of all they have.

"It's empty. There are only about twenty bodies of American soldiers inside." Chang Yin said calmly.

Tang Shengkai paused for a moment, then shook his head helplessly. "I wonder where he's wandered off to now."

At this time, they heard sporadic gunshots from several places. Chang Yin started walking, "Let's go, it's time to get to work. It looks like there are quite a few people coming. Let's go and meet them."

Chang Yin and Tang Shengkai moved through the ruins of Base 5 like ghosts, the wreckage groaning beneath their feet. The distant flames stretched and distorted their figures, casting eerie shadows across the rubble.

Chang Yin lowered his voice and said to Tang Shengkai beside him, "Officers usually carry communication equipment. Keep an eye out for those who are frequently communicating and giving orders. Also, if they've noticed, they'll definitely be wearing ordinary American soldier uniforms. Be sure to observe carefully."

Tang Shengkai nodded, and the dagger turned in a circle in his palm, and a cold light flashed by.

As they turned a corner, they heard hurried footsteps and shouts coming from the front. Chang Yin signaled Tang Shengkai to hide while he quietly listened carefully, occasionally surfacing to observe.

An American officer, with three stars on his epaulettes, waved his arms, directing several soldiers to set up a defensive line. His voice was sharp and urgent, echoing in the empty corridor. A cold glint flashed in Chang Yin's eyes, and he gestured to Tang Shengkai.

The two men split up in tacit agreement. Chang Yin circled from the left, while Tang Shengkai slowly approached along the right wall. The moment the officer's back was turned, Chang Yin leaped up like a cheetah, his arm gripping the officer's neck like an iron clamp, his other hand tightly covering his mouth.

The officer struggled desperately, making a whimpering sound in his throat and kicking his feet on the ground. Seeing this, Tang Shengkai rushed forward and stabbed the officer's heart with his dagger.

The officer's body stiffened suddenly, then collapsed. Chang Yin released his grip, gently lowered the body to the ground, and quickly searched his body for any communication equipment.

Meanwhile, Lu Ye and a group of twenty or so Chinese soldiers trudged forward through the base. In the dim corridor, the emergency lights flickered, their intermittent brightness causing a palpitation in the air.

They groped their way through the intricate corridors and finally found several American military officers at the door of a conference room.

Through the crack in the door, he could see the officers sitting around the conference table, intensely discussing something. Lu Ye gestured to the team members to attack, and they gripped their weapons, kicked the door open, and rushed in.

The American officers were stunned by the sudden attack. Before they could pick up weapons to resist, the bullets of the Chinese soldiers were already whizzing towards them.

The conference room was suddenly filled with gunfire and smoke. An officer tried to escape through the window, but Lu Ye was quick to shoot him in the thigh.

The officer fell to the ground with a scream. Lu Ye rushed forward, put a gun to his head and ended his life.

However, just when they thought they had accomplished their mission, something unexpected happened. Suddenly, there was a sound of heavy footsteps outside the door, and then a group of American soldiers rushed in with guns drawn.

"Damn it! Reinforcements arrived so soon! Looks like the chaos was just an illusion!" Lu Ye cursed, quickly seeking cover. Bullets rained down, pockmarking the walls. A Chinese soldier, unable to dodge, was struck in the shoulder, his uniform instantly stained red with blood.

Lu Ye commanded his team to fight back, but the enemy's firepower was too strong and they were suppressed and unable to raise their heads. To make matters worse, there was movement from the rear, and another group of American soldiers came from the side door.

The situation became extremely critical. Lu Ye gritted his teeth and shouted, "Divide into two groups. One group will block the front, and the other group will deal with the enemies on the flanks!"

The team members responded and a fierce exchange of fire continued in the conference room. Lu Ye shot while observing the situation, thinking about how to break out.

The conference room was filled with acrid smoke and the floor was littered with bullet casings. Lu Ye pressed himself against the wall, a bloody streak on his cheek from the flying shrapnel. Warm blood dripped down his chin, staining the collar of his uniform red.

Team members around him were being wounded one after another, and their ammunition was running low, while the American offensive only intensified. Bullets rained down on the bunker like a torrential rain, sending brick and stone debris flying and blinding them.

"Brother Lu! We're out of bullets!" A soldier cried out in a sobbing voice, his hand holding the empty gun shaking constantly.
