Chapter 496: Going to the Subsea Engineering Project

496

In the conference room, the incandescent light emitted a dazzling light, casting a cold and hard shadow between Chang Yin and Commander Han.

Chang Yin placed a stack of maps with the coordinates of US military bases marked on the table. The red circles on them looked like bombs waiting to explode: "Commander Han, all US military bases in Bianyue must be destroyed.

As long as these strongholds remain, they will continue to infiltrate China's borders, and similar incidents involving submarine engineering projects may recur at any time."

Commander Han frowned, his fingers rubbing the rim of his teacup repeatedly, causing tiny ripples to form in the water. He stared at the densely packed markings on the map, his voice low:

"Of course I know the benefits of destroying the base. But every base of the Komi Army is heavily guarded, and there are many confidentiality measures that we are unaware of. Once the operation is exposed, our people will not even have a chance to retreat!"

Chang Yin's eyes were sharp. He did not strongly refute Commander Han's words, but simply stated the facts calmly. "Commander, isn't the lesson from Base No. 5 enough?

Hansen's submarine cable plan has been hidden for three years. If it weren't for this accidental discovery, by the time they've exhausted the oil, the border defenses will have been completely breached!"

We will not know anything about this until we actually destroy Base 5. "So, we must take the initiative! I am willing to take on this mission."

The air seemed to freeze for a moment. Commander Han stood up and paced, his worn cloth shoes making a slight sound on the ground. "Tell me about your plan."

For the next three hours, the map was repeatedly altered with red pencil.

As the morning light pierced through the clouds, Commander Han's eyes were bloodshot, but his expression was remarkably firm: "I promise you. Chang Yin, since you've accepted the mission, you must complete it perfectly even if you have to kneel down."

"Yes, Chief!"

When Commander Han saw Tang Shengkai again, a strange look crossed his eyes. Tang Shengkai saw it too, but he said nothing. When Chang Yin and the other two left Base No. 5, Sun Jinan, Zhang Dabing, and the others followed them for a distance.

Tang Yue was helpless. "Let's all go back. Make sure to take good care of Political Commissar Fei. We'll be back when we're done."

Although they were very reluctant, they still stopped. Not long after they walked out, Tang Yue casually looked towards the seashore and said, "Captain, what is the progress of the US military's submarine project?"

Will they negotiate with the bordering country of Vietnam and take back all the machinery and equipment?"

Before Chang Yin could say anything, Tang Yue continued. "I remember getting a map of China's oil reserves back in Japan. Captain, what do you think about bringing those machines back to mine our own oil?"

Tang Shengkai nodded repeatedly, feeling his daughter's words made sense. Chang Yin's eyes flashed with a smile, and he knew this girl wouldn't be so obedient. Sure enough, her earlier appearance of being well-behaved at the base was all an illusion.

It was already late when they came out, and it would probably be dark in two hours. Tang Yue thought about it and decided to wait until dark before taking action.

"If you really want to get rid of it, I think now is the best time. Once Commander Han recovers, he will definitely send a large number of troops to guard it. It will be troublesome for both sides."

Tang Yue chuckled when she heard this. It turned out their battalion commander was quite treacherous. "Okay, let's do it."

The few of them didn't delay any further. Chang Yin and Tang Shengkai kept watch while Tang Yue directly got a small yacht from the space. The few of them jumped on it and drove straight into the sea.

Arriving at the approximate location, Tang Yue's consciousness took a quick glance and her eyebrows raised slightly. Fortunately, they came, otherwise, there would be another fierce battle on the sea.

Chang Yin saw Tang Yue's expression and asked, "What's wrong?"

Tang Yue turned around and looked at Chang Yin, "Captain, Hansen hasn't finished speaking yet."

Chang Yin's face darkened. He felt that his interrogation was already very strict. Could it be that he had overlooked something? "What's wrong?"

Tang Yue shrugged nonchalantly, "There are still quite a few American soldiers guarding this place. It seems that even if the news from here can't be spread out from Base No. 5, this place can help spread it out."

That Hansen, well, how should I put it, still left himself a way out."

Chang Yin's eyes darkened. If it weren't for Tang Yue's sudden decision, they wouldn't have come here. Without knowing anything about this place, if Commander Han had just sent a few people to garrison here,

Chang Yin didn't dare to think about it any further. It seemed necessary to send a message back to Commander Han.

Tang Yue couldn't reach Chang Yin's shoulders, but now that she was a little taller, she patted the back of Chang Yin's hand and said, "Captain, don't worry, we are here."

By the time Tang Yue got the diving suit from the fishermen in the nearby waters, it was already dark.

Chang Yin, Tang Yue and Tang Shengkai wore simple diving suits provided by fishermen from Bian Yue State, carried heavy oxygen tanks, and quietly dived into the icy sea.

The diving equipment at that time was far less advanced than that of later generations. The rubber diving suit was stuffy and heavy when wrapped around the body, and water would seep through the edge of the mask from time to time.

Using the moonlight, the three of them swam toward the submarine engineering project, following a pre-marked direction. The water grew colder as they went deeper. Chang Yin checked his old depth gauge, which showed the needle pointing to 30 meters underwater.

The water pressure hurt his eardrums, so he gestured for the two to pay attention. Tang Yue and Tang Shengkai nodded in response, adjusting their breathing rhythm skillfully.

Finally, they saw the outline of the submarine project: the rusted drilling platform's supports stood on the seabed, its massive body looking particularly eerie against the dark blue water.

Several thick submarine cables snaked like giant pythons, reaching far into the distance. Chang Yin's heart tightened. This place was even more heavily guarded than he had imagined. The platform was surrounded by old-fashioned sonar detection equipment, and searchlights swept across it at regular intervals, casting pale streaks of light across the seabed.

Tang Yue gestured, signaling for a circuitous dive from the bottom of the platform. The three of them swam cautiously, keeping close to the rocks, trying not to make any noise.

Suddenly, Tang Shengkai grabbed Chang Yin's arm and pointed ahead. A team of American divers, carrying underwater rifles, passed by on patrol. Their diving suits gleamed metallically, standing out prominently under the searchlights.

Chang Yin immediately took the two men into a crevice in the reef. The sound of bubbles from the American divers approached, then gradually faded away. Tang Yue glanced at the timer in her hand. Time was running out; they had to complete the mission quickly. She nodded to the two men, then focused her attention, her gaze fixed on the underwater engineering equipment.

Under the tense gazes of Chang Yin and Tang Shengkai, Tang Yue clenched her hands and began to focus her mental energy. This time, collecting things was different from the past. Previously, they had all been on land, without the underwater pressure, but that wasn't the most important thing.

These devices are now buried deep in the seabed, and the depth is very deep. This puts a certain amount of pressure on Tang Yue.

However, as Tang Yue lifted up her hands, in an instant, those bulky drilling equipment and thick cables, as if pulled by an invisible giant hand, were pulled away from their original positions and disappeared into streams of light.

The whole process was silent, with only the tiny water currents stirred up by the movement of the equipment, creating ripples under the searchlight.

However, the sonar device still picked up the unusual fluctuations. The red alarm light instantly illuminated, the searchlight on the platform swept wildly, and the American divers quickly closed in their direction.

"Let's go!" Chang Yin yelled, pulling Tang Yue along and turning to swim. Tang Shengkai followed behind, pulling out a few homemade underwater bombs from his waist and throwing them back with force.

"Boom! Boom!" The explosions echoed across the seabed, stirring up a massive undercurrent. The American divers were thrown hither and thither, temporarily slowing their pursuit.

The three struggled forward in the undercurrent, their oxygen running out and their strength reaching its limit. Tang Yue had no choice but to put protective shields on the three of them.

The pressure suddenly dropped, and they returned safely to the surface. Tang Yue launched the yacht, and the three of them boarded and immediately sailed away from the area.

At this time, the alarm on the submarine engineering platform in the distance was still sounding, and it looked particularly panicked in the night.

"The battalion commander didn't realize there were still so many American troops stationed here. They didn't even go to support Base 5 despite the loud noise."

At this time, Chang Yin's face was not good, "Get ashore immediately!"
