Chapter 511 Answering the Phone

Chapter 511 Answering the Phone

511

Tang Yue nodded in the direction of US Base No. 9 and said, "Since our next stop is Base No. 9, let's explore the area nearby."

Several people set off immediately. The weeds were over their knees. Tang Yue walked in front holding a homemade detector. The copper coil on the top of the branch emitted a strange blue light in the sunlight.

Chang Yin, gun in hand, scanned the surroundings warily, the occasional noise in the bushes setting his nerves on edge. Tang Shengkai, carrying his tool bag, periodically pulled out a map to check his bearings, beads of sweat trickling down his tanned face.

"Dad, look at this!" Tang Yue suddenly stopped, the indicator light on the detector in her hand flashing wildly. Chang Yin and Tang Shengkai hurried forward. The red line on the map Tang Yue had just drawn coincided with their location—this was the theoretical path of Base 9's communication line.

"Is it really possible?" Tang Shengkai looked at his daughter in disbelief, his rough hands stroking the detector. Tang Yue curled her lips slightly.

Chang Yin was also speechless. The US military really didn't worry about their communication equipment at all. It was detected so easily.

"Daughter, do you have any tools? Daddy will dig and see." Tang Shengkai was ready.

Tang Yue gently raised her hand, and in an instant, the telephone wire buried underground seemed to be pulled by an invisible hand. As the soil surged, the black cable broke out of the ground, and the US military logo on the surface was clearly visible.

Chang Yin's eyes darkened. It turns out that spiritual power can be used in this way?

Tang Yue was as excited as if she had discovered a new toy. She took out the wiring pliers and phone she carried with her and quickly connected them.

"Is that all?" Tang Shengkai stared at the phone on the ground. Tang Yue brushed the dirt off her hands and looked around. It was quite secluded here. She casually took out three small stools and said, "Well, let's take a break."

Tang Yue was still worried about her family, so she planned to call Teacher Kang.

Tang Yue had just sat down on the small stool and had not yet reached out to pick up the phone next to her when the newly connected black phone suddenly rang. The sharp ringtone was particularly harsh in the silent wilderness.

Everyone was a little nervous for a moment, and Tang Yue picked up the microphone as if she had been electrocuted. She was a little confused after picking it up, but she still put it to her ear.

A noisy electrical sound echoed through the receiver, followed by a frantic shout in a thick American accent: "Michael, good news! Immediately mobilize all forces from Base 9 to attack Hill 13. This time, all forces on the battlefield will march towards Hill 13. The Chinese army will be annihilated."

The other party's tone was extremely confident, as if the Chinese army was already in his pocket and within his reach.

Tang Yue's fingers tightly gripped the receiver, her eyes dark as the abyss. Why was the US military so confident this time?

She handed the microphone to Chang Yin and gestured casually. Chang Yin had just heard the American military's instructions. He and Tang Yue had the same idea. Chang Yin remained calm, deliberately lowering his voice and asking in pure American English, "Why do you do this suddenly?"

"Oh, Michael, why do I feel like your voice isn't right?"

"No! I just took a break. Several US military bases have been attacked recently, and I am very worried about Base No. 9 now." Tang Yue and Tang Shengkai looked at Chang Yin intently. This guy has a strong ability to respond to emergencies.

"Oh, okay. I should believe you. According to reliable information, the Chinese army is gathering and heading to Base No. 5. The situation there is currently in a tense state. The headquarters means that China cannot be given the opportunity to send more troops, so all Chinese troops must be intercepted outside Hill No. 13.

Michael, I have a feeling we can go home after this fight."

Chang Yin pretended to be excited, "I'm really looking forward to that day. But are you really ready?"

"Don't worry, you don't have to worry about anything else. Order the troops to move out immediately. We'll see you at Hill 13."

"Okay, bye!"

The phone was hung up with a "click", leaving only the busy tone echoing in the air.

Chang Yin put down the receiver and exchanged a serious look with Tang Shengkai and Tang Yue.

"This news must be passed back to the troops immediately!" Chang Yin's voice was cold.

Tang Yue was about to speak when the phone rang again. Tang Yue gave Chang Yin a look that said, "Go ahead, answer that!" What if the officer just now had something else to say?

Before Chang Yin could even speak, the other party spoke, "Hello, this is Michael. Please put me through to Colonel Westley."

Chang Yin and Tang Yue exchanged glances. What a coincidence! Chang Yin immediately replied, "Hello, Commander Michael. Colonel Westley is not here right now. Is there anything I can tell you?"

Michael paused. "Well, several US military bases have been attacked inexplicably recently. I asked Colonel Westley a few days ago, and he said there would be news in the next couple of days."

Chang Yin seemed to understand. "Oh, so that's how it is. Colonel Westley has just given the order, but your call was not connected. Colonel Westley ordered you to take all the troops from Base No. 9 to Hill No. 13 in three days."

Michael had no objections. But he still asked, "By the way, when will the supplies I requested a few days ago arrive? Colonel Westley said a large batch will be arriving soon. I wonder if they've already reached the battlefield?"

Chang Yin was unequivocal. "It should arrive today or tomorrow. If the supplies can't be delivered to Base No. 9 in time, you can contact someone to pick them up en route. We'll contact you later."

"Okay, then we'll leave in three days."

"Okay. Fight for the free world!"

After that, Chang Yin decisively hung up the phone. Tang Shengkai was full of admiration, "Captain Chang, if I hadn't been there, I really would have thought these were the words of a qualified American soldier."

Chang Yin simply nodded, but his expression grew more serious. His fingers unconsciously rubbed the edge of the receiver, the coolness of the metal spreading along his fingertips. "The US military is coming with great force this time. It seems they are preparing for a final counterattack."

Tang Shengkai squatted down and used a branch to draw a simple military map on the ground. Three red dots marked the locations of US Base No. 9, Hill No. 13 and Base No. 5. Every stroke seemed to be engraved on the tense nerves of several people.

"The US military is determined to go all out this time," Chang Yin said in a low voice, as if it came from deep within his chest. "They've assembled all their forces to attack Hill 13. Ostensibly to intercept the Chinese reinforcements to Base 5, but in reality, they want to achieve their goal in one fell swoop and completely reverse the situation."

His eyes swept over the mark of Hill No. 13 on the map. It happened to be a key transportation route to several important Chinese army strongholds. If it was lost, the consequences would be disastrous.

Tang Yue frowned slightly. "But why are they so confident? Base 5 is clearly still in a stalemate, yet they dare to mobilize all their forces to attack Hill 13. Is there some trick up their sleeve that we don't know about?"

Tang Yue was a bit confused about the US's actions. Although there had been fighting at Base 5 every day recently, China had not been at a disadvantage after the arrival of reinforcements. Furthermore, the three of them had recently looted several other US military bases, and the US military's overall morale was low.

Why are they suddenly so confident and decide to decide the outcome with one battle?

A faint light flashed in the depths of Chang Yin's pupils, "Maybe, there is support!"

Tang Yue looked up, "Captain, are you referring to supplies? Or?"

Chang Yin didn't say anything, but picked up the phone and started dialing. Tang Yue and Tang Shengkai didn't interrupt. Tang Yue knew the situation was serious and the headquarters had to make immediate arrangements.

After the call was connected, Chang Yin didn't say anything. Instead, he rhythmically tapped his fingers on the small stool. Tap here for a while, then tap on the other side of the phone a few times, then tap here again for a while.

Just like that, about ten minutes passed before Chang Yin finally put down the phone. He looked at the two of them and said, "We must rush to the headquarters immediately and hand over the detector's operation to the communications company so that we can intercept messages from various US military locations."

Tang Yue thought it made sense. But she didn't want to rush. "I'll make a phone call first."

Tang Yue called Teacher Kang directly. Tang Yue was lucky. There were a lot of things going on in South Island these days, and the phone line had been adjusted. Tang Yue called Teacher Kang's office directly.

"Hello."

Tang Yue frowned. This was not Old Man Kang's voice.
