The original owner was the deposed empress of Emperor Shunzhi.
He was from the Borjigit clan of the Khorchin Mongols, and his given name was Erdeni Bumba. He was also known as Mengguqing.
She was the niece of Empress Xiaozhuangwen (Bumbutai) and the daughter of Wu Keshan.
The original owner could be said to have become a victim of the struggle between Dorgon and Shunzhi.
Under Dorgon's strong pressure, Shunzhi could do nothing but indulge in sensual pleasures.
His mother, Bumbutai, wanted to secure the throne for him, partly for her own family and partly to gain the full support of the Mongols.
More than half of the imperial harem consisted of Mongolian concubines, and without exception, they all eventually disappeared without a trace.
Therefore, the powerless and furious Shunzhi Emperor could not touch Dorgon, and could only vent his anger on his mother.
Finally, they nitpicked and took their anger out on the original owner.
When Dorgon suddenly passed away, Emperor Shunzhi wished the whole country could celebrate.
The previous dynasty whipped the corpse, and the empress was deposed in the harem!
He seemed to have forgotten that it was her mother who had pleaded and begged, promising him a happy ending, and pleading with her family to marry the original owner of this body to him.
Otherwise, his throne would be teetering on the brink of collapse.
"The Empress's ceremonial duties (the laws and regulations of the inner palace) are of paramount importance, and her position is not insignificant. Therefore, it is wrong to appoint incompetent people. You, as ministers, are submitting memorials that are of no benefit and are seeking fame. This is extremely inappropriate. You are hereby severely reprimanded."
As the ruler of a country, if he intends to depose the empress, he must come up with a legitimate and convincing reason.
For example, there were charges such as "attempting to murder her husband" and "corrupting the harem," but the first empress of the Shunzhi Emperor was not charged with any of these. The Shunzhi Emperor simply said that he and the empress were "incompatible" and "incompetent," and then deposed her from her position as empress.
Emperor Shunzhi's insistence on deposing the empress is described in both the edict of deposition and the "Biography of Empress Xiaoxian":
In his edict deposing the empress, Emperor Shunzhi gave three reasons for doing so:
Firstly, this marriage was arranged by Prince Rui, Dorgon, and was not chosen by Dorgon himself.
Secondly: They have been estranged since their marriage and have been separated for three years.
Thirdly, the empress was not virtuous and capable enough to shoulder the heavy responsibility of leading the harem.
The two reasons given in "The Deeds of Empress Xiaoxian" for deposing the empress are: First: The deposed empress was indeed beautiful, but when she saw a pretty concubine in the harem, she hated her and "wanted to kill" her. She would punish whoever served her in bed and often quarreled with me, which seriously interfered with my private life.
When you hate someone, even your breathing is wrong; jealousy arises from love.
He amplified her jealousy to an extreme. If she were truly ruthless, who else in the harem would be missing? Whom had she harmed? Which of his concubines and children had died at her hands?
If we're really talking about ruthlessness, who can compare to him? So many Manchu noblewomen were kept in captivity and died mysteriously.
Second: The deposed empress was extravagant. Her clothes and hats had to be adorned with pearls and gemstones, and her tableware had to be made of gold. She would be unhappy if it wasn't made of gold.
Leaving aside the Manchus and Mongols, who in this world doesn't like gold and silver?
He said she had to eat from a gold bowl and wear clothes adorned with jewels, and that the bowls she brought as part of her dowry were in his way.
Why doesn't he mention how extravagant and wasteful he is, eating dozens of dishes in one meal?
They even said they'd been separated for three years. If he didn't go, would the Empress force him to?
Therefore, she could only bear the infamy and become a victim of their power struggle.
The Empress Dowager would definitely choose her own son, but she replaced him with the original owner's niece as the new empress.
The original owner, at the tender age of 15, became a deposed empress in the cold palace.
"Didn't my aunt abandon me? She was willing to submit to the Regent for that good-for-nothing! Ha! I want to abandon her now too!"
"That good-for-nothing can't punish the Regent, can't refuse the Empress Dowager, and can only use me as a pawn. Then, he can forget about having any power in his life!"
"If you all treat me like a toy, then I'll be a good toy. But even toys can backfire!"
"This time, I will make them, mother and son, beg me to come to the palace!"
"Ha! I'm going to have a child! I'm going to extinguish the bloodline of the Aisin Gioro family! I'm going to make all their scheming come to naught!"
The woman in the shadows was strikingly beautiful, with a beauty that was extremely aggressive.
She loved gold and jewels, and her appearance was perfectly suited to such magnificent things.
Her eyes were filled with coldness, even though her later life was relatively peaceful.
But in the dead of night, everything in the Qing Palace felt like a nightmare.
That nightmare haunted her for the rest of her life!
Even at the very end, she still remembered the resentment she felt at the beginning!
She and her father went to Beijing to marry, but Emperor Shunzhi repeatedly declined, leaving her hanging. When did she finally agree to marry him?
A pale and weak young man, at first glance one might mistake him for a Han Chinese.
Wielding that "little whip" with such pride! You bastard!
When Sherry woke up, it was still night.
Sherry looked at the information and pondered silently.
First of all, this marriage was a political strategy jointly orchestrated by Empress Dowager Bumbutai and Dorgon of the Qing Dynasty.
Firstly, Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang hoped to use this marriage to give Emperor Shunzhi more support within her family.
Secondly, Empress Xiaozhuang could also use her niece, who was the empress, to control the situation in the inner court.
Dorgon chose Mengguqing because he believed that the Manchu-Mongol marriage alliance would help consolidate the Qing Dynasty's power and benefit the consolidation of the northern frontier. It was also a continuation of Nurhaci's policy of marriage alliances!
If Dorgon's choice of Mengguqing as Empress for the Shunzhi Emperor was primarily driven by political considerations, then this was likely due to the need for a political marriage.
With the support of the Khorchin, the Qing Dynasty could also form alliances with other Mongol tribes through marriage.
However, Bumbutai was unwilling. Since an empress was to be chosen, she insisted on selecting one from her maternal clan.
On the one hand, the marriage alliance became closer, and Shunzhi was able to gain the support of the entire Khorchin tribe.
Why should other tribes benefit from this? By then, how could the Khorchin tribe be the only ones to dominate?
On the other hand, it made it easier for her to manage the imperial court and the harem. Otherwise, why would Kangxi's birth mother have died just before her happy day?
It is now the sixth year of the Shunzhi reign (1649), in early spring.
Sydney went through the timeline and realized that Dorgon's brother, Dodo, was going to die of smallpox in March.
It's interesting that Dorgon will pass away next December.
The two brothers passed away before they were 40 years old, partly due to the physical scars left from years of fighting.
On the other hand, whose work could it be?
Sherry was lost in thought when she found a jade bottle in the secret realm, intending to go find her father, Wu Keshan.
"Gege, are you up?" A maid named Chaolu, who was about the same age as the original owner of the body, came in.
"Hmm!" Sherry was a little sleepy. The weather was so cold; it was perfect for hibernation!
Chaolu is steady and sensible, and his arrangements are thorough.
Sherry looked at the little beauty in the mirror, stunningly beautiful, proud and unrestrained.
No wonder she loves gold and jade; only this face can carry off those precious things.
Those understated colors don't suit this face at all.
Sherry looked around happily, oh my, seeing a beautiful woman made her feel good.
The diagnosis is complete: Emperor Shunzhi is blind.
Even looking at this face, I can still show disgust.
After washing up, combing her hair, and getting dressed, Shirley wore a brightly colored and beautifully patterned red traditional Mongolian robe with cloud designs.
