Chapter 104: Always Wanting to Get Closer
Chapter 104: Always Wanting to Get Closer
“Also, I’ve realized that I care a lot about your opinion. Being praised by teachers or liked by classmates for doing well on exams or for other reasons can be encouraging, but these things are insignificant compared to your praise,” Cheng Bing continued. “Furthermore, I can’t bear to see you sad, no matter what the reason.”
When he said these things, Cheng Bing wasn't entirely unreserved; he didn't want to bring up unpleasant things in such a pleasant atmosphere.
Fang Yuenian usually doesn't show his sadness; he laughs and jokes like a silly little fool who just plays around all day.
However, Cheng Bing was incredibly perceptive in noticing his emotional fluctuations, whether it was when others mentioned his grandfather at school, when he was facing his family, or when he felt helpless about many things.
Fang Yuenian's throat tightened suddenly.
He was also very hot; the heat swept over his entire body, and his face and eyes turned red.
Cheng Bingteng reached out and touched the corner of his eye, whispering, "I think this is what liking someone means."
Fang Yuenian's cheeks flushed, and she said blankly, "Have you never thought that you should like girls?"
"I've thought about it, but I don't need to think about it for long. For example, right now, I don't want to hug any other girl like this, but I want to hug you like this."
Fang Yuenian suffered a heavy blow and was on the verge of collapse.
“Fang Yuenian,” Cheng Bing cupped his face, looking at him with clear eyes, “yesterday you said you should have noticed my changes sooner. I was indeed very confused at one point, but that’s all in the past now. If I were to look back, I think I was happier than sad back then.”
That period was indeed difficult, but Cheng Bing never blamed Fang Yuenian. She didn't blame him for being so attracted to her, nor did she blame him for having such an influence without realizing it. She still stayed by his side every day, innocent and open.
Fang Yuenian bit her lip, looking at him with red eyes.
Cheng Bing hadn't used all his skills yet. His fingertips traced from the corner of his eye to his face, then quickly moved to his lips, his gaze settling on them.
“Fang Yuenian, I want to kiss you,” he paused, “this time I’m saying hello.”
Fang Yuenian had absolutely no rebuttal to say.
Cheng Bing lowered his head and kissed his lips, very gently, seemingly without any aggression, but not cautiously probing. His actions were as frank as his words. Noticing that Fang Yuenian seemed to want to stand up, he hugged him tightly.
“I don’t want to kiss any other girl like this,” he said between kisses, his breath hot against his lips. “I only want to kiss you.”
The kiss remained merely a fleeting lingering between the lips, without going any deeper—Cheng Bing had handled the situation perfectly, enough to make Fang Yuenian develop a hazy fascination with such intimacy without feeling any fear.
If he had a choice, Cheng Bing would have preferred that he and Fang Yuenian never have to face that kind of fear.
A few days later, Fang Yuenian and Cheng Bing had to go to school to estimate their scores.
Fang Yuenian had a pretty carefree time at home these past two days. During the day, she helped Wang Jing with chores around the house, and in the cool evenings, she would go to the carpenter's shop to find Cheng Bing. Ostensibly, she was there to supervise Cheng Bing making bookends, but what she really did was something only the two of them knew.
The two of them were like a pair of magnets, or like all young lovers who dare to hold hands in secret, seemingly without doing anything, just blushing and gazing at each other—happiness, happiness seemed to sweep over their whole bodies.
However, amidst the joy, Fang Yuenian gradually realized that Cheng Bing... seemed a little off.
It could also be Fang Yuenian's problem; he seems to have a natural talent for... being a rogue in certain things.
He was conflicted.
Perhaps it's not entirely my fault, he thought.
On a sweltering summer evening, Cheng Bing, always looking fresh and clean, would sit on the side, dressed in an ordinary short-sleeved T-shirt and knee-length pants, diligently drawing blueprints and selecting wood, making sure the designs were as beautiful as they could be.
Fang Yuenian always wanted to get closer, and even closer.
But Cheng Bing was as rigid as a Confucian scholar.
Aside from that one kiss, he didn't know if it was out of shyness or because he was just too upright, but he never kissed her again.
Is this reasonable?
How could that be!
Fang Yue Nian was very melancholy.
Besides, he was a bit shy and couldn't bring himself to pin someone down and kiss them directly.
More importantly, he was wondering whether Cheng Bing didn't understand or simply didn't like him.
Impossible, impossible. He couldn't possibly dislike kissing.
Because of these overthinking thoughts, Fang Yuenian hasn't been sleeping well these past few days, having bizarre dreams at night, and waking up in the morning to find... on her pants.
His face flushed red, yet he couldn't help but wonder: Would Cheng Bing feel the same way? Because she was thinking of me, she dreamt…
Definitely.
They were the same age, had taken the same sex education class, and knew that the other was not a clueless child. The boys around them could make suggestive jokes in private, not to mention the rumors that some of the adults in their early relationships had already crossed the line. They had been friends since childhood and trusted each other completely, so there was no reason for them to feel awkward.
The night before he went to school to estimate his grades, Fang Yuenian went to the carpenter's shop as usual.
Cheng Bing prepared half a chilled watermelon for him and put two spoons on it.
Fang Yuenian couldn't help but blush as soon as she saw him.
Because, because, in the afternoon, while he was taking a nap, he did something under the covers.
Thinking of Cheng Bing's face, I did something very wrong.
What's even more terrifying is that, even though only a few hours have passed, his mind is already in turmoil again the moment he sees Cheng Bing.
That's terrifying.
Is this what hormones are?
He sat down awkwardly, stared at Cheng Bing for a while, and finally couldn't help but say, "If you have time, why don't you kiss me?"
Cheng Bing was shocked when Cheng Bing heard him say that right away.
Fang Yuenian wanted to avoid his gaze, and muttered, "Why don't you want to kiss me? You haven't kissed me in so long."
Cheng Bing's Adam's apple bobbed as she swallowed.
Sometimes, he felt that Fang Yuenian was doing it on purpose, just to provoke him, using that kind of elaborate seduction while appearing innocent and naive.
He was careful not to cross the line, but this person kept blinking and looking at him expectantly.
"It's not that I don't want to kiss you," Cheng Bing said softly.
Fang Yuenian moved closer, making sure to free up her arm for him, "Then you can hug me, and we won't do anything else."
The pleading in his eyes was irresistible. Cheng Bing stopped resisting, got up from her chair, squeezed in next to him, and carefully put her arm around him.
This pose is incredibly innocent.
Fang Yuenian got her wish and leaned close to his ear, whispering, "I have something to tell you."
"Um?"
"In the afternoon, I was at home, using my hand..." Fang Yuenian's voice grew softer and softer until it was almost inaudible.
However, Cheng Bing's expression changed drastically.
Realizing what was happening, he tried to stand up, but Fang Yuenian immediately grabbed him tightly like a rogue, "Don't move!"
Cheng Bing froze, her voice trembling slightly, "Don't do this."
Fang Yuenian's fingers found his hand, she clasped it tightly, whispered a few more words, and finally looked at his face and asked, "When was it?"
Cheng Bing steadied herself and said, "I... don't want to talk about it."
"So you've got it?"
"..."
“As long as you respond,” Fang Yuenian was easily satisfied. “I was just afraid you wouldn’t react.”
Cheng Bing's eyes were deep, but his breathing was rapid.
How could there not be?
As for when, ever since I woke up on a sticky summer morning and became lost in an indescribable dream, that was a long time ago.
It was probably not long after I watched that video.
—He was, after all, a young man just coming of age, and even with restraint and resistance, he couldn't completely control his reactions to love and pleasure that couldn't be shown to others.
But he cannot face it calmly, much less demand it calmly.
I accidentally made eye contact with Fang Yuenian and suddenly noticed that his lips looked pale pink and soft, which immediately distracted me.
The answer became very difficult, and Cheng Bing struggled for a long time before finally managing to say, "Yes..."
Fang Yuenian's lips curled up into a smile.
She kissed his ear and asked, "Do you want to tell me?"
Cheng Bing gritted her teeth secretly, "I don't want to talk about the first time, but I can tell you about the last time."
Fang Yuenian propped herself up, her eyes wide, and urged anxiously, "Tell me."
"The night before you went home, you took a shower and came out of the bathroom wearing shorts, but with your T-shirt pulled around your neck. I was on the balcony."
Fang Yuenian raised an eyebrow slightly and whispered, "You were clearly facing away from me back then!"
Moreover, when he went out and saw Cheng Bing's back, he was startled and quickly tore off his shirt, still feeling relieved that she was facing away from him.
"I saw it before I turned my back."
Fang Yue Nian was both amused and exasperated. "You're pretending you didn't see it."
Cheng Bing smiled wryly, "Yeah, I'll pretend I didn't see it."
Pretend to be calm, pretend nothing happened.
Their hearts were already burning with rage. Just before that, they had witnessed couples being affectionate on campus, which had been quite a shock.
Fang Yuenian looked at him for a while, "Actually, it's not like you haven't seen it before."
The two little boys grew up in a village where the summer heat was so intense they wanted to go down to the river every day, and there was absolutely nothing between them that they felt embarrassed about.
Cheng Bing shook her head: "If I become aware of myself... then I'm gone."
Fang Yuenian laughed again, "Yeah, you're really principled. And what happened next?"
Cheng Bing pursed her lips, probably not wanting to talk anymore.
Fang Yuenian lowered her head and kissed him quickly and heavily on the lips. "Say it!"
With great difficulty, Cheng Bing freed her hand and grabbed his hand, which she didn't seem to understand what he wanted to do. "Fang Yuenian!"
"Yes, I'm here," Fang Yue said softly. "Let go."
“I told you, don’t do this,” Cheng Bing was still struggling, “get up.”
Fang Yuenian remained unmoved. "And then? In the dorm, what...how did you get into trouble?"
Cheng Bing really didn't know what had gotten into Fang Yuenian today. It seemed like he was determined to make him look so pathetic and wanted to see all his embarrassment without missing a single detail.
"Nothing much, I just took a shower."
Fang Yuenian chuckled softly, "So now, why don't you go take a shower too?"
Cheng Bing's tone turned gritted with anger: "Fang Yuenian."
Fang Yuenian said sternly, "Don't keep calling me by my full name, as if you're going to punish me."
Cheng Bing's chest heaved, but she didn't speak.
Fang Yuenian looked at him: "Did you hear that?"
Two small flames seemed to be leaping in Cheng Bing's eyes.
Fang Yuenian asked again, "Did you hear that?"
He pressed closer, and Cheng Bing, helpless, lowered her head slightly and captured his thin lips in a careful and restrained kiss. Only when Fang Yuenian cupped his chin and offered her tongue did he relent and reach out to embrace her. Author's Note: Thank you to my mentor 9492239 (9492239) for your support!
