Chapter 88: Bathroom

Chapter 88: Bathroom

Chapter 88: Bathroom

Time is becoming increasingly scarce.

Everything was done in a race against time: attending classes, running laps, snowflakes of test papers, one exam after another... Eating and resting were merely tasks to maintain physical strength. A cluster of roses bloomed passionately and lonely around the teaching building, because few people paid attention to them anymore.

On Saturday, Fang Yuenian still didn't go to the classroom.

Firstly, he didn't want to be stuck in the classroom all week and wanted a more relaxed environment. Secondly, the classroom atmosphere was relatively free on weekends, but people would discuss homework and other things, and couples would study together intimately. He used to think that the atmosphere in Class 18 was cold and impersonal, but when he tried to concentrate but was always disturbed, Fang Yuenian would also get annoyed.

Therefore, unless a classmate asks him to discuss the problem beforehand, he will always choose one day each weekend to study in his dormitory.

For example, today, Meng Xiaoyang was invited away by Li Peixiang—which proves that in terms of the ability to explain problems, his reputation is far inferior to that of Meng Xiaoyang.

Cheng Bing and Li Mingqi from Class 17 also went to the class, leaving Fang Yuenian with the entire dormitory all to herself.

He was working on a math test in the afternoon.

The difficulty level is okay, but it's quite troublesome. It's a collection of example problems that are easy to misunderstand, and it really tests concentration. Fortunately, he's the only one here so far, and the progress is going relatively smoothly.

He had just finished writing the first half and was about to start working on the bigger questions when his phone rang.

He stood up, reached for his phone on the bed, and glanced at the screen, a slight look of annoyance appearing on his face.

Therefore, his tone was not enthusiastic when he answered the phone.

He said, "Hello."

The voice on the other end was harsher, muffled and impatient: "What are you doing?"

"Do your homework."

"Hmph, you always say you're doing homework, who knows what you're doing outside? I'm asking you, how many days has it been and you haven't even called home once? You're never even here. I've been supporting your education and you've become so poor that you never even come home?"

Fang Yue Nian took a deep breath and calmly asked, "You've been drinking again?"

Clearly, he'd drunk quite a bit; Fang Wu's tongue was practically slurred. He cursed, "What's it to you whether I've been drinking or not! You little beast, I..."

Amidst the commotion, Wang Jing loudly accused, "Are you out of your mind calling our son again? He's so busy with his studies. Does he only get upset if you interrupt him? I'm hanging up. Did you hear me?"

The call was quickly disconnected.

With the beeping notification sound, Fang Yuenian numbly tossed her phone back onto the bed.

Then he sat back down at the desk next to his bed, picked up his pen, and continued writing the test paper.

The headache began to spread uncontrollably, from both temples to the entire brain, short and dense like needle pricks.

But Fang Yuenian tried hard to ignore this and forced herself to concentrate. This test paper had to be explained on Monday, and the math teacher couldn't stand blank homework or test papers. She had encountered this type of question on the last test and hadn't gotten full marks then...

He kept working hard, calmly and silently working on the last problem.

His thoughts started to drift, perhaps as a side effect of overemphasizing focus. It wasn't until he was halfway through the last problem that he suddenly realized he had brought an important formula wrong, and that it was from the very beginning of the problem-solving process.

The five or six lines of complex numbers and symbols instantly transformed into menacing little devils, each seemingly mocking his oversight.

Fang Yuenian's mind went blank. He rubbed his eyes and found that his vision was blurry.

He then let out a sigh.

"Hold."

Spring wasn't over yet, and this was the fourth phone call he had received.

Despite having worked hard all morning, Fang Yuenian stared at the wrongly answered question with tired eyes. Suddenly, as if a dam had collapsed, she reached out and swept the table clean.

The scrolls and pens were scattered all over the floor.

Feeling no better, Fang Yuenian slowly exhaled, moved the stool away, and obediently squatted down to pick up the items one by one.

I felt a faint warmth passing through my eyes, and before I could react, a drop of water landed on the test paper in my hand, blurring the incorrect formula into a dark mess.

"Hold."

Fang Yuenian rubbed her face haphazardly a couple of times and then cursed.

Fortunately, Cheng Bing wasn't here.

The thought had barely crossed my mind when I suddenly heard footsteps outside the door.

It's over.

I made plans to go to KFC with Cheng Bing, and he's back now!

Fang Yuenian launched herself off the ground, shoved the messy papers onto the table, kicked the chair aside with a whoosh, and, as agile as a rabbit, turned and dashed toward the balcony, leaping into the bathroom with lightning speed.

Cheng Bing pushed open the door and came in; the dormitory was strangely quiet.

Walking over to Fang Yuenian's table, seeing the mess, he asked, "Did you go out?"

He turned around in confusion, took out his phone from the bed, and wanted to see if Fang Yuenian had left him a text message.

There was nothing there.

Walking back with her phone, she found Fang Yuenian's phone on the table, covered by a test paper, and a pen on the floor.

Just as I was wondering what was going on, I suddenly heard a noise.

It came from the bathroom.

The bathroom door is always open when no one is using it, but it was tightly closed this time. Cheng Bing walked over and found that the switch on the outside of the door was not turned on either.

"Fang Yuenian?" he called out tentatively. "Are you inside?"

After a moment of silence, Fang Yuenian's muffled voice rang out: "Ah."

"bath?"

"ah."

Cheng Bing turned her head and glanced at his table.

"Your card is still outside, are you taking a cold shower?"

"..." Fang Yue Nian sighed and rubbed her forehead, speechless. "I forgot."

He was so insecure about his lie that he awkwardly opened the door a crack. Before he could say a word, Cheng Bing suddenly stepped over the threshold and squeezed into the bathroom without saying a word.

Fang Yuenian was forced to take several steps back, her waist hitting the water card sensor.

Then Cheng Bing reached behind her and slid the door shut.

The lights were off to begin with, and the bathroom was only dimly lit, barely enough to make out a person's shadow. It wouldn't be noticeable if there was only one person in the room, but it was strange to have two people crammed in there.

Fang Yuenian was bewildered by his actions and stammered, "What are you doing in here?"

Cheng Bing's eyes were deep.

"What happened?" he asked in a low voice after a long while.

"Well……"

Fang Yuenian hummed and groaned for a while, then sighed and said, "I only realized I had made a mistake from the very beginning on the last question of my math test when I was halfway through writing it."

Cheng Bing said, "So you're hiding here to reflect on your actions?"

"Calm down," Fang Yuenian said weakly. "Let's go out, my fear of the dark is about to flare up."

However, things just happened to be so coincidental. There was a noise outside, and it sounded like someone had returned.

Fang Yuenian froze instantly.

He looked up, his eyes wide open, at Cheng Bing.

I have a sense of shame!

The two stared at each other for less than two seconds before there were two knocks on the door.

Who's inside?

Damn, it's Chen Yu.

Fang Yuenian opened her mouth, but Cheng Bing had already answered: "It's me."

Fang Yuenian immediately shut up.

Upon hearing this, Chen Yu outside said, "Brother Bing, why are you back so early? Are you taking a shower? Wang Wei and I are going out for spicy hot pot later, do you want to wait for us?"

Cheng Bing: "No, I have something to do later, you guys go ahead."

"Okay, by the way, Brother Bing, I need your help."

"What? Tell me."

Chen Yu's voice was full of flattery towards the top student, "It's just that our class was given a math test, and the last question was too difficult. I couldn't even begin to answer it. If you have time, could you explain it to me?"

Cheng Bing glanced at Fang Yuenian, "Okay, I'll tell you when I get back tonight."

"Alright! Bing-ge is awesome! Oh right, bro, don't tell Nian-ge, okay?"

"Why?"

"Sigh, because that question was covered in last week's quiz, but I didn't understand it then. Brother Nian even explained it to me. If he finds out I don't understand it again, he'll definitely laugh at me. Don't tell him, okay?"

Cheng Bing chuckled softly, "Okay, I won't tell him."

Fang Yuenian cruelly pinched his waist.

After receiving reassurance, Chen Yu muttered, "But where is Brother Nian? That mess on his table is still there, he hasn't cleaned it up yet."

Fang Yuenian thought to herself, "Please leave quickly, I'll call you brother from now on! I'll make your brother Bing call you brother too!"

The sound of running water came from outside; it sounded like Chen Yu was washing his face.

Fang Yuenian listened intently to the sounds outside, and unknowingly moved closer and closer. Suddenly, her neck was assaulted by a warm breath without warning.

It was Cheng Bing's breathing.

He was startled and realized that their position was so strange that they were practically embracing. He frantically tried to back away, but accidentally bumped into the shower faucet, and cold water was instantly poured over his head.

Now, both of them were stunned.

Cheng Bing realized what was happening, reached out and pressed the faucet to stop the shower.

The two stared at each other with their hair still wet. Then the sound of water outside stopped, followed by footsteps fading into the distance, and finally the sound of a door closing.

Chen Yu is gone.

Fang Yue Nian blinked, looked the two of them up and down, stared blankly for a moment, and then couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Oh no, oh no, you just changed your clothes today," Fang Yue Nian thought to herself, laughing as she lifted Cheng Bing's half-new white knitted sweater. "The collar is all wet."

“It’s okay,” Cheng Bing said in a low voice, “It was already dirty.”

"How did you do that?"

"Someone in the class knocked off the lampshade, and we were all covered in dust."

Fang Yuenian hurriedly asked, "Did it hit anyone?"

“No,” Cheng Bing shook her head, “it fell on the desk.”

Their clothes weren't very wet, but their heads and necks were definitely a bit cold. Cheng Bing was standing closer to the showerhead, and her face was covered in water droplets. Fang Yuenian quickly ran her fingers through her hair and said, "Stop messing around, stop messing around. Hurry up and get out of here. You can get your card and take a hot shower. I'll dry my hair too."

He reached out to pull the door open.

"Wait a minute." Cheng Bing grabbed his wrist.

Due to the bathroom being too dark, the wet floor being too slippery, and the limited space, Fang Yuenian was somehow gently pulled and ended up in Cheng Bing's arms.

"Hold……"

He grabbed and pulled, forcing Cheng Bing to take a step back at an angle, her waist hitting the water card sensor.

"hiss……"

"Hey, are you alright? Did you bump into something?" Fang Yuenian's hand moved down, precisely touching the area on Cheng Bing's waist where the sensor was pressed. "Did it hurt?"
