Chapter Fifty-Nine: My Sister
"Smack!"
Zhou Ran slapped Ning Yu on the head.
"You brat, what are you saying?"
Ning Yu covered his head, his face filled with certainty.
"You're furious! You must be my damned father. How did you suddenly come back to life?"
"Let me tell you, I have a new dad now. I won't recognize a random dad like you who suddenly appears out of nowhere."
"Smack!"
Zhou Ran couldn't help but give him another loving slap.
What nonsense is this kid spouting? What do you mean by "wild father"?
"I'm not your father."
"I hope not. I don't want my dad to pop up all the time."
"Where is your mother? I want to see her."
Zhou Ran revealed her purpose.
"What are you trying to do? You don't want to compete for the job and become my dad, do you? Let me tell you, no way."
"I am your uncle!"
Zhou Ran slapped Ning Yu again.
No wonder this kid didn't say anything earlier; once he started talking, his act of being well-behaved was ruined.
This mouth of hers, it's like a door that can't be closed.
"Uncle? You're lying. My mom said that all her relatives are dead."
Ning Yu is completely useless and still treats him like a child. How could the person in front of him, who looks about the same age as him, possibly be his uncle?
Then, unsurprisingly, Ning Yu was slapped again.
"If you hit me again, I'll get angry!"
"Are you getting angry? Do you think I'd let a little kid like you beat me up?"
Zhou Ran dodged Ning Yu's lunge, grabbed him by the back of the neck, and dragged him back.
"Trying to run? No way."
"Let me go! Help me!"
Zhou Ran dragged Ning Yu outside, and the others tried to rush over to save them.
They're all just flashy, ineffective moves; they're no match for professional bodyguards who've seen bloodshed.
They were all arrested in no time, tied together with a rope, and taken away.
Yalvis walked over, tied Ning Yu up, and carried him on his shoulder.
"This is the person you asked me to find?"
"Yes, thanks to your help this time, otherwise it wouldn't have been so easy to see the person."
If Alvis still couldn't realize that Zhou Ran was using him as bait, he would truly be a fool.
They quickly came out of the basement, found a room, and ushered everyone inside. The bodyguards closed the door, prohibiting outsiders from entering and leaving them with a private space.
Yalvis tossed Ning Yu onto the sofa. "This kid doesn't look tall, but he's quite heavy."
"You're tall, you're like a telephone pole."
Upon hearing Alvis say that he was short and heavy, Ning Yu twisted his body and jumped up from the sofa, bumping his head against Alvis.
"I hate it most when people say I'm short."
"What are you doing? Be honest, I'm telling the truth, you look kind of familiar."
Only then did Yalvis get a clear look at Ning Yu's face.
Previously, the basement was dimly lit, and Ning Yu was wearing glasses and had his head down, so he hadn't really noticed his appearance.
Now that the light is bright, the glasses are gone again, revealing the face.
That menacing, aggressive look looked strangely familiar.
"I've seen you before!" Alvis scratched his head, trying to remember where.
Zhou Ran ignored him and directly told Ning Yu, "Call your mother and have her come see me."
"No! Who knows if what you're saying is true, or if you're trying to lie to me!"
Zhou Ran waved her hand, and the bodyguard, holding Ning Yu down, took out his phone and handed it to Zhou Ran.
Zhou Ran handed it to Alvis.
“Call his mother and tell her that the child is with you, and ask her to come here to pick him up.”
"That's not a good idea."
Alvis heard what was just said; Zhou Ran said it was his uncle.
Won't saying that scare people?
Zhou Ran glared at Alvis, and under her pressure, Alvis dialed the number inside.
A crisp, clear female voice came from the other end of the line, like a clear spring cascading over bluestone.
Overall, it sounds good.
Yalvis repeated what Zhou Ran had said and gave her the address.
The other party repeatedly told her not to hurt her son, and that she would agree to any amount of money they asked for.
After hanging up the phone, Yalvis stole a glance at Zhou Ran.
Isn't this too much of a surprise? It doesn't feel like a family reunion!
"Young Master Zhou, do you two sisters have a grudge?"
"Um."
Yes, there was a grudge. After he killed his brother-in-law, Ning Rui severed all ties with him.
I wish I could go a year without seeing him, and the moment I do, I feel like I could bite a piece of his flesh off.
They were sworn enemies, I suppose.
He knew she didn't want to see him.
That's why he captured Ning Yu to threaten Ning Rui into coming over.
If he calls Ning Rui and asks her to come over, she won't.
"Are you really that unlikable?"
"Um."
"You've been abandoned by everyone, how did you end up like this?"
Alvis was particularly curious: was that bald guy his friend or relative?
The two felt an intense hatred for each other upon meeting.
Now that he's found his sister, and she still has a grudge against him, and Zhou Ran doesn't seem like a bad person, how did he end up like this?
"Who knows?"
Zhou Ran shrugged. He knew, but he couldn't say it.
Climbing from the bottom to the top, crossing social classes, is never easy.
People, if you want something, you have to lose something else.
These may be the parts he lost.
Although he didn't want to throw it away, it's not that he wouldn't throw it away just because he didn't want to.
It's not that Zhou Ran doesn't know, but rather that she doesn't want to say it.
They didn't speak, but Ning Yu's big eyes darted around, as if he was plotting something.
Nobody cared about him. With so many people watching, and him still tied up, he couldn't possibly cause any trouble.
The room remained silent until hurried footsteps could be heard outside.
The door opened, and a tall, slender woman with a dashing figure rushed in.
She is 1.7 meters tall, with big eyes, a small mouth, and light makeup.
A white shirt, a pencil skirt, and a huge, heavy bag in her hand.
You could tell he was really anxious; his forehead was covered in sweat, and his neatly tied-up hair became disheveled from running.
As soon as she came in, she went straight for Alvis.
Ning Rui was stunned for a moment after she saw who it was.
"Alvis?! How come it was you who kidnapped Ning Yu?"
"Hey? My niece-in-law? What are you doing here?"
When Alvis saw Ning Rui, he immediately recognized her, then looked at Ning Yu, and then at Ning Rui again.
He slapped his thigh and exclaimed, "No wonder he looked familiar; he's that son!"
"Yes, yes, this is like the flood washing away the Dragon King's temple, the family doesn't recognize each other anymore."
Ning Rui put on a smile, her anxiety subsiding somewhat; she had almost scared him to death.
When she received the call, her heart was pounding with worry.
"I wonder what mistake that brat made this time? I'll definitely punish him properly when I get back."
Alvis shook his head. "He didn't do anything wrong, and he didn't provoke me."
"Then why...?"
Why did they arrest Ning Yu and bring him here?
Alvis pointed to Zhou Ran, who had been silent ever since the person entered.
"He contacted you, saying you are family."
"Huh?" Ning Rui turned around in surprise, about to retort, "I'm an orphan, how could I have..."
Relatives?
Before he could finish speaking the last two words, he met Zhou Ran's eyes.
Different eyes, yet the same familiar gaze.
Ning Rui was initially shocked, then nostalgic, then fearful, and finally settled on terror.
When people are extremely shocked, they cannot utter a single word.
She just stared blankly at Zhou Ran, her body trembling slightly involuntarily.
"Ning Rui, it's been a long time!"
"ah!"
Ning Rui was finally able to make a sound. She screamed and took two steps back, but hesitated and did not run away.
Finally, I forced myself to shut my mouth and knelt down decisively.
Tears streamed down his face, but his back remained ramrod straight, as if in a final display of strength.
"What a coincidence that we'll meet again!"
Yes, yes.
Ning Rui didn't dare wipe away her tears, and just knelt there listening to Zhou Ran speak.
"You guys get out of here, take this kid with you, and give me some space."
Alvis looked at the scene with a puzzled expression.
They didn't look like family members meeting, nor did they seem like enemies.
It was more like a slave meeting a slave owner, one side ruling and the other fearing.
The door closed, leaving only Zhou Ran and the other person in the room.
"Sit down, don't worry, I won't hold it against you."
Ning Rui, however, did not dare to sit down. She shook her head to indicate her refusal.
“Brother, I really didn’t know they would harm you. If I had known, I wouldn’t have helped. I was wrong. I really didn’t want to hurt you.”
Ning Rui wanted to explain, but Zhou Ran didn't want to listen.
"I asked you to sit down."
Ning Rui trembled, fearfully holding onto the sofa, and carefully got up from the floor, sitting down on the chair.
I dared not sit on it completely, I only dared to sit on one-third of it.
Her hands were constantly rubbing together, revealing her anxious state of mind.
"How did you die?"
"I don't know. I remember I went home and was knocked unconscious. Then I ended up here."
Ning Rui trembled slightly and cautiously glanced at Zhou Ran.
She had suspected that Zhou Ran was the one who did it.
She talked about her brother, who was the most ruthless, even towards her, his most beloved sister.
No matter how much they are pampered normally, they will not hesitate to take action once their interests are involved.
She was used before, and it almost cost Zhou Ran her life.
In Zhou Ran's eyes, this was a betrayal, and she would definitely kill her.
She ran away with her son, fleeing far away.
I didn't expect to be knocked unconscious after returning home, and that's how I ended up here.
She always thought it was her brother who had found him and made the move.
"You don't think I killed you, do you?"
Ning Rui cautiously looked at Zhou Ran's face; an unfamiliar face, yet a familiar expression.
Her brother was saying she was stupid.
“If I were to kill you, I wouldn’t let you die so easily. You know what I’m capable of.”
Ning Rui nodded frantically; she believed it, she believed it.
Zhou Ran was so cruel; she made Zhou Ran suffer such a great loss.
How could she die so easily? She's mistaken.
She was incredibly relieved that she died so easily and didn't actually fall into her brother's hands.
"Who asked you to help in the first place?"
Ning Rui pursed her lips, seemingly worried that saying something would anger him and cause him to strangle her.
Why can't I say?
"No, no, it's Guo Xiang! Guo Xiang is looking for me."
Ning Rui hurriedly shook her head; she was scared.
Tears streamed down her face, but she dared not make a sound.
"It was Guo Xiang who found me. He said he had a task for me and he needed to leave quickly so he could hand over what he had to me."
Let me hand it to you personally. I truly don't know what's inside, so I didn't dare open it.
"Guo Xiang! I underestimated this kid." Author's note: Thanks to my mentor 9492239 (9492239) for their support! For more exciting content, please leave a message for this book on Liancheng Reading.
