Chapter Sixty-Nine: Who are you?
The shout was so loud that everyone turned to look.
Then a handsome and clean-cut young man strode in.
Because of the strenuous running, sweat soaked his carefully styled hair.
His body and legs were covered in dust, showing how disheveled he looked.
The boy with glasses reached out to stop the boy who rushed in.
Who are you?
How dare you barge in like that? That's so rude.
Who are you?
Struggling to push away the hand blocking her way, Song Lai rushed in front of Zhou Ran and shouted angrily.
Seeing that Zhou Ran was being harassed, Xia Chengping took a big step and stood in front of Zhou Ran.
Cut open the enraged Song Lai and warn him.
"What are you doing? Trying to bite me?"
Seeing that things were not going well, Director Hu quickly put away the contract that Xia Chengping had just signed, stuffed it into the inside pocket of his clothes, and patted it down one last time, not entirely reassured.
No matter what, we can't let Xia Chengping, this duck that's practically in our mouths, fly away.
He's determined to get this male lead role; nobody can interfere.
"Are you in cahoots? You look respectable, but you do such despicable things, resorting to treacherous tricks to steal our opportunities."
Xia Chengping looked bewildered and puzzled as he looked at Song Lai. What was this kid saying? Why was he making such a false accusation?
Zhou Ran, who was behind him, instantly guessed the truth.
The person in front of me is the little star who came for the interview.
They were mistaken for each other, and by a twist of fate, they even passed the audition and were signed by the director.
In Song Lai's view, weren't they just scheming bitches who used tricks to steal people's resources?
"Song Lai, don't be impulsive!"
A slender man limped in from outside.
He was slender but tall, about the same height as Xia Chengping.
No wonder that staff member mistook it for someone else.
These two people do indeed resemble them in appearance.
“There must be some misunderstanding. Song Lai meant no harm.”
“Jian Ling, why waste so much breath explaining to them? These scheming bastards should be beaten up so they know that not everyone can take what they want.”
The short Song Lai was impulsive, and he rolled up his sleeves, ready to charge forward and fight.
Xia Chengping's eyes instantly turned cold. If they were unreasonable and resorted to violence, Xia Chengping was an expert.
He blocked Song Lai's swinging fist and delivered a coordinated kick to her lower body.
It kicked Song Lai right in the back of the knee.
Song Lai couldn't support her body and collapsed to the ground.
If Xia Chengping hadn't kindly pulled his wrist up a little, it would have been a different story.
Song Lai landed face-first on the ground.
However, the fall was quite severe, and the wooden floorboards slammed open with a loud thud.
Song Lai screamed in pain several times.
When Jian Ling saw that something had been done, she rushed forward to rescue Song Lai.
He tried to stop Xia Chengping's fist, but how could Xia Chengping possibly be caught by him?
With a nimble twist, he seized the initiative and grabbed Jian Ling's wrist.
With a turn of her body and a twist of her arm, Jian Ling felt dizzy and was pinned to the ground by her arm, unable to move.
The series of movements were fluid and efficient; within minutes, the two men who had charged at him aggressively were knocked to the ground.
Everyone stared in astonishment, their mouths agape.
Director Hu reacted the fastest, leading the applause.
"Awesome! So awesome! That skill level is definitely the result of training!"
The others also reacted to the applause and joined in, praising his handsomeness.
"You guys are too arrogant! You stole our interview opportunity and even assaulted us. I'm calling the police."
Zhou Ran, looking down at Song Lai, kicked her in the shoulder.
Song Lai, who had just struggled to sit up, was kicked back to the ground.
I helped out this time because there was nothing else to do.
His head hit the wooden floor with a thud.
"hiss!"
Those around him gasped as they heard the sound, feeling sorry for him.
Song Lai's head was spinning, and she gasped for breath in pain.
Still stubborn, she tried her best to stare at Zhou Ran with her eyes wide open.
It's like Zhou Ran killed his entire family, so there's a deep-seated hatred for him.
Zhou Ran silently looked down at him.
The expression he usually hated most was now showing on his face.
As expected, the dragon-slaying boy eventually became the dragon himself.
That's not quite right. The boy himself was the dragon, which is why he hated any dragon stronger than him.
"Where did this mad dog come from? I don't care about your stuff. What's not your treasure is a treasure to someone else."
"They talk a good game, but they still had people stop us from auditioning and even stole our audition slots."
Zhou Ran didn't stand on ceremony either.
"You can't even secure an audition spot, you're a complete waste."
It's foolish of you to rush up to an adult without knowing anything.
How did you, such a stupid and useless idiot, manage to survive until now?
In the entertainment industry, it's not enough to just have a pretty face; you also need brains.
"What's the point of being in the entertainment industry if you don't have a brain? Everyone's like you, getting eliminated right from the start."
"I'm sorry, it's a misunderstanding! It's a misunderstanding. We thought you were in cahoots with the people who framed us, which is why Song Lai rushed up and hit us. We had our reasons, we really didn't mean it."
There are always one or two wise people in a group.
Jian Ling was the most astute person in their small group.
He hurriedly apologized and quickly explained the situation. He had a feeling that if he couldn't explain it clearly, the consequences would be something they couldn't afford.
Song Lai then realized what was happening and looked at Zhou Ran.
"You're not with Lü Xi and the others?"
What do you think?
Zhou Ran sneered, "With a brain like that, you think you can survive in the entertainment industry? You wouldn't even survive nine lives to become a supporting actor."
"What exactly happened?"
Xia Chengping wasn't quick-witted, and he knew there was a misunderstanding.
He released Jian Ling, who was relatively calm.
Jian Ling stood up, disregarding her own safety, and went over to help Song Lai up. Only after confirming that he was alright did she speak.
"Calm down. What did we say before we came? Why are you so impulsive? Things aren't clear yet."
Jian Ling was exhausted. Song Lai was good in every way, except that she was easily impulsive and prone to causing trouble.
Jian Ling noticed that everyone was looking at them.
He then stood up and explained.
"We are newly signed artists under Zhao You's name, and we have undergone practice and training."
Zhao You said there was a talent show and asked us to go on it.
Who knew they would suddenly switch me out right before it started?
She's an artist who signed with the same agent as me, Lü Xi.
He curried favor with the agent and stole our resources.
We went to see the agent, Zhao You, and he gave us the audition opportunity.
They said this series is perfect for us, and we can boost our popularity with the audience.
"Be more composed than those on talent shows"—we all know that's just an excuse to fob us off.
But I'm just a nobody, so I thought it would be nice to have a drama series to film.
We've been preparing for almost a month, and today we're going out.
Suddenly, we ran into Lü Xi as he came out. When he saw us, he laughed at us for overestimating our abilities.
People like us are destined to never even get a foot in the door of the entertainment industry.
They will remain unknown, both now and in the future.
We initially held back from making a move, but as his mockery grew more and more intense, we couldn't help but fight back.
We both got beaten up, which wasted our time.
Not wanting to miss this interview opportunity, we rushed over.
Who knew that when we found out, we heard from outsiders that someone had already come for an interview using our names.
And luckily, he was selected by the director and immediately signed a contract.
Hearing this, we couldn't hold back any longer and rushed in to demand justice.
Jian Ling stopped there, and everyone around her knew what was going to happen next.
Thinking that Zhou Ran and her companion had orchestrated everything, they rushed forward, only to be overpowered and knocked down.
People sympathize with the weak, and everyone present couldn't help but look at the disheveled Song Lai and her companion with pity.
That's so tragic!
Director Hu had seen it all before, so he remained calm. He had seen plenty of this kind of cutthroat competition for resources in the entertainment industry, and he had even seen things more intense than this.
These are nothing more than low-level tricks.
"I don't know what kind of grudges you have against each other. I have my own rules for auditions, and the scheduled interview time has already passed."
"Since you two missed the deadline, I can't make an exception for you and have you re-interviewed."
As for the staff member picking up the wrong person, Director Hu does not intend to pursue the matter.
One mistake was hiring the wrong person, which ironically brought him two rare and promising talents.
One of them is the bespectacled man who got the wrong person; he's his distant nephew, whom he'd brought into the film crew for training.
Whatever the reason, his nephew might be punished for the sake of those two unfortunate souls.
Let's just leave it at that. As for whether the two of them felt wronged or not...
Sorry, he's a director, not a philanthropist, much less a pushover. He can't control so many people or other people's business.
Although what Zhou Ran said was unpleasant, it was the truth.
If you can't even protect yourself, don't be foolish enough to try and make it in the entertainment industry.
Upon hearing the director's words, everyone else looked on knowingly; that was exactly how it should be handled.
Song Lai was filled with anger and resentment.
Jian Ling remained relatively calm, as if she had expected this.
This is reality. He had already guessed it, but he still felt a little unwilling.
Zhou Ran ignored the two of them; they were the most innocent party in this farce.
He only needs to take care of the two of them; he doesn't care about the lives of the others.
He doesn't have a saintly heart.
Those words weren't just meant for Song Lai.
The main purpose was to speak to Xia Chengping, to use reality to make this foolish boy see clearly that he was indeed not suited for this place of intrigue and backstabbing.
Xia Chengping lowered his head, knowing what Zhou Ran meant.
Judging from the reactions of those around them, this is not a big deal.
If he chooses to become an actor, he will have to endure these unpleasant things.
Xia Chengping suddenly realized that being an actor wasn't all that great.
An interesting thing happened, but it was followed by a lot of trouble.
It's like mixing a piece of candy with poop; no matter how sweet the candy is, it's not food, and you don't have to force yourself to eat it.
He doesn't have that kind of fetish.
Furthermore, for Xia Chengping, a wealthy child...
He had a bag full of all kinds of delicious and beautiful candies.
This candy covered in poop is just something I've never seen before, so it's a bit novel.
After taking a second look, I realized this thing looks disgusting, so I'd better just get rid of it.
There was no loss for him.
"let's go!"
Xia Chengping is able to take things in stride; he possesses so much that this little thing is insignificant to him.
"Have you forgotten something?"
Zhou Ran reminded him, "If you leave like this, what about the contract we just discussed? We can't leave any trouble behind." Author's Note: Thank you to my mentor 9492239 (9492239) for your support! For more exciting content, please leave a message for this book on Liancheng Reading.
