Werewolf Xiaodou and the True and False Little Red Riding Hood
At the edge of the forest in Storybrooke, the pine mouse Roo Bean took the last bite of Grandma Wolf's Cake. Suddenly, her ears transformed into furry wolf ears, and a whisk, its tail curled around its neck, clattered to the ground. She looked at the pads sprouting from her paws and squeaked in confusion. How had the cake, which was supposed to trigger an "evil curse," transformed her into a soft, adorable werewolf?
"Hey, little werewolf, want a piece of apple pie?"
The real Grandma Wolf arrives, leaning on a cane. Her apron is embroidered with the paw prints of a mechanical cat (a foreshadowing from Volume 3), and the apple pie in her basket smells of honey from the modern-day Lin Shen Clinic (a foreshadowing from Volume 7). Xiaodou then realizes that Grandma Wolf isn't a dark magic villain at all, but a kind-hearted old woman who rescues small animals in the forest.
Reverse Little Red Riding Hood's poisoned apple stand
"Poison apples for sale! One bite will put you into a 100-year sleep~"
A sinister Little Red Riding Hood passed by with a basket slung over her shoulder, a malicious smile on her face. In her basket, the supposedly innocent Little Red Riding Hood doll had fangs sewn on it, and in her hand was a recipe for a dark wizard's curse. Xiaodou used her "innocent sense" to sniff out the magical scent of her, but Little Red Riding Hood pointed at her nose and yelled:
"Look! Grandma Wolf's accomplices! She wants to turn you all into cake!"
The animals in the forest fled in panic. Only the three little pigs, holding the blueprints of the Iron Fortress, stared at Xiaodou with vigilant eyes: "Tell me! Are you trying to steal our lace curtains?"
Xiaodou then noticed that pink lace curtains were visible from the cracks in the three little pigs' steel fortress, and a flag of "Pig Pig Bakery" was planted on the top of the fortress - it turned out that they had switched to making desserts.
The Candy Thief and the Frying Pan Song
That night, a loud noise came from Grandma Wolf's candy house. Roo rushed into the kitchen and saw seven dwarfs carrying sacks of candy, their hats labeled with black magic symbols like "Gluttony" and "Laziness." She instinctively grabbed a frying pan, wrapped her tail around the handle, and hit the thieves, singing:
"Thief, you are so bad, give the candy back to grandma~
If you steal again, I'll turn you into the berry on the strawberry cake~"
Miraculously, the dwarves began to dance to the rhythm, and the candies in the sacks fell out, revealing the gear parts of the mechanical cat underneath (a foreshadowing from Volume 11). Grandma Wolf sighed, "They were cursed by a dark wizard and thought stealing candy would relieve their hunger..."
Innocent sense of smell and fairy tale logic
Little Red Riding Hood and her "Justice League" (a blackened three-eyed wolf and the Poison Queen's magic mirror) break into the candy house and accuse Azuki of being an "apprentice of the black magic." Azuki suddenly has an idea and nibbles on the "honest carrot" on the table. A rainbow-colored pure gas emanates from her nose, exposing all lies wherever it reaches.
- The three-eyed wolf has a pink bow hidden under his majestic cape. It turns out he's secretly learning to knit sweaters.
- The back of the magic mirror's "evil prophecy" says "Actually, I want to be a beauty blogger";
- At the bottom of Little Red Riding Hood's basket of poisoned apples was a half-finished scarf she had knitted for Grandma Wolf.
"So you're the one who wants to be friends with Grandma Wolf!" Xiaodou held up the scarf with her wolf paws. The edge of the scarf was embroidered with the monogram "L.S" (Lin Shen's initials). "Why do you have to pretend to be bad?"
Little Red Riding Hood blushed and snatched the scarf: "Because... because the dark wizard said that only bad people can participate in the baking competition!"
Mechanical cat bread in the cloud
At the stroke of midnight, Roo follows Grandma Wolf up the magical beanstalk. The aroma of baking bread wafts from the top. In the land of giants high in the clouds, a gigantic figure throws bread to the ground, each loaf bearing the paw prints of the mechanical cat.
"That's the lonely giant. He bakes bread every day to vent his loneliness." Grandma Wolf handed Xiaodou a piece of bread. A torn page of Lin Shen's baking manual from the modern chapter fell out of the bread. "I heard his oven is made of 'time gears'..."
Xiaodou was chewing on the bread and found that the filling was energy chocolate in the Star Wars chapter (a foreshadowing of the second volume), and the sesame seeds on the bread crust actually spelled out the number "001" - this was her number as a concept mouse.
