Chapter 66 High School Part 2: If we met in high school.
Sheng Jianan paused, immediately took a step back and looked up at Jiang Chi.
After a moment, he said, "Why is it you?"
Jiang Chi raised his eyebrows and looked at him: "Who do you think it is?"
After a short silence, Sheng Jianan said, "I didn't think so."
After saying that, he continued walking forward.
Jiang Chi looked at his back, and after a moment, he also walked forward.
The two of them walked one after the other. After walking for a while, Sheng Jianan stopped and looked sideways at Jiang Chi.
Jiang Chi also stopped and turned his head to look at him: "What's wrong?"
Sheng Jianan looked at him without saying anything.
Jiang Chi understood his look and smiled: "Are you trying to tell me not to follow you?"
Sheng Jianan frowned slightly. He did have this intention, but he mainly wanted to ask what Jiang Chi wanted to do. He didn't seem to have offended him.
"My home is in this direction." Jiang Chi put his hands in his pockets and raised his chin forward casually.
Sheng Jianan was silent for a moment, and didn't say anything else after hearing this, and continued walking forward. Jiang Chi followed behind him, keeping a distance of about one or two meters from him.
The two walked together all the way, and it gradually got dark.
In the summer evening, the sky appears deep blue, and street lamps are lit up one after another in the darkening sky. The middle and both sides of the road are filled with vehicles going home from get off work and students riding bicycles after classes. Their noise adds a unique and romantic landscape to the night.
When they reached the gate of the community, Sheng Jianan paused, then stopped, turned sideways to Jiang Chi, and said politely: "I'm here."
Jiang Chi raised his eyes and looked at the name of the community: "...Oh, you live here."
Sheng Jianan hummed, and after a moment, waved to him politely: "I'm leaving first, bye."
After saying that, he turned and walked towards the community.
Jiang Chi just stood there and looked at him until his back disappeared around the corner of the community.
Then he suddenly smiled, and the evening breeze blew through the hair on his forehead, bringing a faint scent of flowers. Jiang Chi couldn't help but think of a sentence that someone said when he woke up in the classroom at noon. It seemed that someone said that the transfer student was easy to get along with?
Thinking of this, Jiang Chi couldn't help but let out a "tsk".
Who said it's easy to get along with? Not easy to get along with at all.
-
The next morning, as Sheng Jianan stepped onto the stairs of the teaching building, he heard a familiar noise coming from above and a conversation between two girls in front of him.
"Are those Jiang Chi and the others up there?" one of the girls asked.
Another girl leaned over to take a look, then retracted her head and said excitedly in a low voice: "It seems so. Don't mention it, he is really quite handsome."
"...He is handsome. I've seen him play basketball." The girl paused, then remembered something and complained in a low voice, "But he loves to play too much. I feel like he would be very unfaithful if he were to fall in love."
"But I heard that he has never been in love."
As soon as he finished speaking, a whistle suddenly sounded from above. The two girls raised their eyes and saw several boys stopped in the middle of the stairs. One of the boys smiled and said something, then whistled. Jiang Chi leaned lazily on the armrest, a slight smile on his lips, and glanced downward.
The two of them fell silent immediately, looked at each other, and walked up quietly. When passing by Jiang Chi, a few boys lingered and talked, and for some reason, they occupied the aisle in the stairwell.
The two girls walked around the corner of the stairs and glanced down, they saw a boy walking up the stairs. He lowered his head and his face could not be seen clearly. When passing by Jiang Chi, Jiang Chi, who was originally talking lazily with his brothers, suddenly curled his lips and stretched out a leg, blocking the boy's way as if intentionally or unintentionally.
Sheng Jianan paused, then raised his eyes and met Jiang Chi's dark eyes.
"Good morning." Jiang Chi greeted lazily, with a hint of smile in his tone.
"...Good morning." Sheng Jianan also replied politely.
"Good morning, new classmate." Seeing this, He Jun also greeted him, and then remembered something and said, "Jiang Chi, why are you stopping here? I still have to catch up on my homework."
After saying hello, Sheng Jianan didn't say much to them, walked around Jiang Chi and went upstairs. This time Jiang Chi didn't stop him. He kept his eyes fixed on him. After a moment, he stood up and followed him upstairs.
For a while along the way, He Jun kept muttering something in Jiang Chi's ear, sometimes talking about what to eat for lunch, sometimes saying he was going to play games in the afternoon, and so on. Jiang Chi seemed not to hear anything and stared straight ahead.
"Hey, Jiang Chi." He Jun patted his arm.
"Yeah?" Jiang Chi then withdrew his gaze and responded nonchalantly, looking a little absent-minded.
"Which class do we have this afternoon?" He Jun asked.
"...Let's talk about it later." Jiang Chi said.
Turning into the classroom, Jiang Chi sat lazily on the chair, leaning against the desk, facing Sheng Jianan.
Sheng Jianan took out the textbook for morning reading, raised his eyes to glance at him, met his straight gaze, paused slightly, then lowered his head unmoved and wrote his name neatly on the new textbook.
"Sheng, Jia, Nan." Jiang Chi read out each word slowly as he wrote.
"Sheng Jianan." After reading it, Jiang Chi repeated it slowly.
When the pronunciation of the three words rolled around his tongue, he had an indescribable feeling.
"It sounds pretty good." Jiang Chi said with a smile.
Sheng Jianan thanked him politely, put the pen cap back on, put down the pen, and opened the book.
At this moment, Jiang Chi, who had been staring at him for a while, suddenly leaned over, put his hands on his desk, played with his pen and draft paper, and said, "Hey, classmate Sheng Jianan, do you have any problem with me?"
Sheng Jianan paused and raised his eyes.
After a while, he shook his head and said, "No."
Jiang Chi looked at him, and they stared at each other for a moment. Jiang Chi said, "Then you seem to dislike me?"
"?" Sheng Jianan looked at him, and after a moment said, "I don't dislike you."
"Yes." Jiang Chi said confidently while playing with his mobile phone.
"...No." Sheng Jianan denied.
After a slight pause, he explained, "I don't talk much."
As she spoke, her eyes were drawn to the movement of his hands and dropped down. Jiang Chi’s fingers looked nice, but Sheng Jianan noticed that he might be a little hyperactive and always liked to play with something in his hands.
Jiang Chi looked at him for a moment and smiled: "It's okay, I talk a lot."
Sheng Jianan: “…”
-
I did a test paper in the last class of the morning. As the get out of class was about to end, the teacher asked the students in the last row to stand up and collect the papers.
Sheng Jianan stood up and walked to Jiang Chi's desk. Jiang Chi was hanging half of his face, holding a pen in his mouth, waiting leisurely for him to collect the papers.
Picking up the paper, Sheng Jianan lowered his eyes and saw that there was a large empty space on Jiang Chi's paper.
Sheng Jianan has been a serious student since childhood, so he cannot agree with Jiang Chi's attitude towards learning.
Rather than saying that he dislikes this person, it would be more accurate to say that Sheng Jianan simply doesn't like Jiang Chi's study attitude of skipping classes, not wearing school uniforms, and not attending evening self-study classes.
Just after collecting the papers, the bell rang and all the students rushed out of the classroom.
Sheng Jianan was not in a hurry to leave and planned to wait until there were fewer people before going to eat.
As he walked to his seat, he heard someone calling him, "Jia Nan."
Sheng Jianan glanced sideways and saw the squad leader coming over: "Are you eating alone?"
"Yeah." Sheng Jianan nodded.
"Then let's go together." The squad leader said with a smile, "I'll introduce you to the most delicious dishes in our cafeteria."
After saying that, he passed by Jiang Chi's table and smiled at him politely: "Aren't you guys going to eat yet?"
Jiang Chi didn't say anything. He curled the corner of his mouth, leaned back, leaned against Sheng Jianan's desk, and glanced at him.
When they passed by, Jiang Chi heard Sheng Jianan smiled and said, "Okay, thank you, squad leader."
So the two of them walked and talked, and left the classroom side by side.
"Jiang Chi, are you going to leave or not?" Ling Mo urged again.
Jiang Chi then slowly stood up and tossed the book in his hand: "Let's go to the cafeteria today."
When he turned around, he threw the book onto Sheng Jianan's desk.
-
When Sheng Jianan and the squad leader finished their meal, they happened to meet Jiang Chi and a few others walking into the cafeteria. They were talking and laughing, which attracted a lot of attention.
After taking his seat, the squad leader glanced over there, his eyes paused, and suddenly thought of something: "I see Jiang Chi often talks to you."
Sheng Jianan raised his eyes when he heard the voice, and the squad leader continued to ask: "He didn't cause you any trouble, did he?"
"No." Sheng Jianan said.
"That's good." The monitor said with a smile, "With your personality, I'm afraid you'll be bullied if you play with them."
Sheng Jianan picked up a piece of green pepper and stuffed it into his mouth: "...Hmm."
Not long after, Jiang Chi and his friends finished their meal, walked over, and sat at a table across from Sheng Jianan and his friends.
A group of boys gathered together, chatting and talking about gaming equipment, it was very noisy.
But they ate very quickly. Before long, they had cleared their plates and left.
When Sheng Jianan returned to the classroom, Jiang Chi was already sitting in his seat. There were not many people in the classroom at this time, and Ling Mo and He Jun were not there either.
Walking back to his seat, Sheng Jianan saw a book on the table. He opened it and saw Jiang Chi's name written on the title page.
Sheng Jianan couldn't help but take a second look at the flamboyant handwriting, and then he poked Jiang Chi's back with the book.
Jiang Chi paused for a few seconds before leaning back and asking without turning his head, "What's the matter?"
Sheng Jianan handed the book over: "Your book."
Jiang Chi took the book, flipped through it, and then turned sideways: "I've been looking for it for a long time, and it turns out you took it."
"…I didn't take it." Sheng Jianan looked at him.
Jiang Chi said "oh", obviously not caring about this question very much. He threw the book on the table and looked at Sheng Jianan.
As soon as Sheng Jianan came back, he started organizing his notes and reading. Jiang Chi even doubted whether he really liked studying.
"You work so hard, do you really like studying?" Jiang Chi asked.
Sheng Jianan raised his head, looked into Jiang Chi's eyes, and nodded seriously: "Yes."
Jiang Chi raised his eyebrows and smiled.
There are actually people who really like to learn.
-
The first class in the afternoon is physical education. Sheng Jianan does not have to attend the class because of his poor health.
He just transferred here and wanted to familiarize himself with the teaching materials first, so he didn't attend this physical education class.
After the bell rang, the entire teaching building fell silent. Sheng Jianan was the only one left in the classroom, and occasionally, noises could be heard coming from the classroom next door.
The warm summer breeze blew in from the window, gently blowing the curtains and blowing away the heat on my body.
Sheng Jianan likes quietness. Just as he was enjoying this peaceful learning atmosphere, he suddenly heard footsteps outside. Not long after, Jiang Chi appeared at the door.
"Are you really in the classroom?" Jiang Chi walked in with a bottle of water and a smile.
