Chapter 87 High School (Twenty-three) If we met in high school.
By the second semester of the second year of high school, time was running out. As he was about to enter the third year of high school, the hard work over the past year would determine whether he could be with Sheng Jianan every day for the next four years. Jiang Chi did not dare to slack off at all. He even had less time to tease Sheng Jianan. The issue he discussed most with him every day was study.
Amid the busy and stressful days, the second year of high school passed by in a flash and summer vacation arrived.
This summer, Sheng Jianan attended an art training camp. During the training period, Sheng Jianan lived in the studio dormitory. Originally, the dormitory was for four people, but Jiang Chi changed it into a single room for him.
Without Sheng Jianan, Jiang Chi's life and study status have completely returned to that of a senior year in high school.
So far, for a whole month, Jiang Chi can only rely on a ten-minute phone call with Sheng Jianan every day to relieve his longing. This was the longest separation since they had known each other, and it was terribly difficult to endure.
The only time they talk is when they wash up before going to bed every night.
After washing up, Sheng Jianan picked up the phone that was on the phone, walked out of the bathroom, went to the table, turned on the speakerphone, put the phone on the table, and applied hand cream.
Jiang Chi's mumbling voice became his only hope and comfort in the boring training day after day.
"Sheng Nannan." Jiang Chi called out.
It was late at night and his voice was a little hoarse.
"Hmm?" Sheng Jianan responded.
"I miss you so much." Jiang Chi said softly.
Sheng Jianan paused in applying the hand cream, lowered his eyes, and remained silent for a long while before he slowly said, "Me too..."
It was a very quiet voice, and it stopped abruptly in the middle of the sentence.
Not hearing his voice any more, Jiang Chi asked, "What?"
"...Nothing." Sheng Jianan stood up and prepared to go to bed.
After a while, Jiang Chi said, "Sheng Nannan, I heard it."
Sheng Jianan said nothing.
It was already late, so he walked to the bed, made it, and lay down on it.
Jiang Chi didn't say anything on the other end of the phone. The two of them were silent for a while, and could only hear each other's breathing on the phone.
"Sheng Jianan." Jiang Chi called softly and smiled, "Can you say it again?"
The deep voice came through the electric current, sounding even more magnetic, as if it was ringing in Sheng Jianan's ears.
The only light in the room was moonlight coming in from outside. Sheng Jianan stared at the ceiling above his head in the moonlight.
After a while, he whispered, "I miss you too..."
The moment he finished speaking, he heard Jiang Chi's breathing, which seemed to be transmitted to his heart with deep longing.
Sheng Jianan suddenly realized that mobile phones were truly a great invention. The only way for them to relieve their longing for each other was to rely on this small tool of communication.
-
A night passed, and from the moment he opened his eyes the next day, washed up, and had his meal, Sheng Jianan began his boring training.
Except for three meals a day, he sits in the studio almost all the time. Time passed by unknowingly and a day was over in the blink of an eye.
When it was dinner time, as soon as the bell rang, the students rushed out and headed straight for the cafeteria.
Sheng Jianan walked slowly behind, and before he reached the door, he heard a commotion outside the studio.
"Hey, hey, there's a handsome guy!"
"Wow, is it because there are too many handsome guys this year or I'm just lucky? I've met two top-notch guys recently. We can't even find a normal handsome guy in our school."
"He's really handsome. He should have a girlfriend, right?"
"I guess he's here to find a girlfriend."
Sheng Jianan walked out the door and when he looked up, he saw Jiang Chi standing under a tree in front of their studio, his dark and deep eyes staring straight at him.
Sheng Jianan was stunned and walked over: "Why are you here?"
Jiang Chi watched him walk up to him, his lips slightly curved: "Didn't you say you missed me?"
Perhaps it had been too long since they last saw each other, and when they suddenly saw each other, they were both moved. They looked at each other silently for several seconds before Sheng Jianan reacted and turned his eyes away slightly.
Seeing his expression, Jiang Chi curled his lips and raised his hand to pinch his face: "Sheng Nannan, why are you thinner again?"
Sheng Jianan slapped his hand away: "No, I've been eating a lot lately."
"I said I would lose weight, so I lost weight." Jiang Chi said domineeringly.
After a moment, he sighed again and raised his hand to touch Sheng Jianan's soft hair: "Wait, I will raise you back after your training is over."
Jiang Chi took a step forward and said with a smile, "Let me make a deal, Sheng Jianan, can I have a hug?"
There were people coming and going around them, and Sheng Jianan even heard a girl behind him say, "It turns out that handsome guys only hang out with handsome guys."
However, after hesitating for a while, Sheng Jianan couldn't help but nodded when he met Jiang Chi's eyes: "Yeah."
As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Chi took a step forward and hugged him, a hug that was full of longing.
Feeling Sheng Jianan's long-lost breath, Jiang Chi couldn't help but sigh. He spent the past month in a daze, doing nothing but studying. Sometimes he even suspected that Sheng Jianan's transfer was just a dream.
Sheng Jianan rarely paid attention to other people's gazes, raised her hand and gently hugged him: "...Have you eaten?"
"No." Jiang Chi rubbed his chin on his shoulder and smiled, "I'll wait for you to treat me."
"Then I'll take you to eat the dish I told you I liked before." Sheng Jianan said.
"Okay, let me see how delicious it is." Jiang Chi said as he slowly let go of him, but he refused to let go of his hand. Sheng Jianan tried several times to pull it out but failed.
Jiang Chi just watched Sheng Jianan struggle several times but failed to break free, and couldn't help but smile, saying: "Maybe if I learn it, I can make it for you in the future."
Sheng Jianan raised his head when he heard the words, glanced at him, then turned away, pulled his hand, and took him to the cafeteria.
The tips of my ears turned red without me noticing.
-
The break was short, and after dinner Sheng Jianan sent Jiang Chi to the door. The two stood quietly on the side of the road, neither speaking.
The night wind blew the hair of the two young men, as if expressing their silent longing.
"... in two days." Jiang Chi's deep voice sounded slowly, and he turned his head to the side, "Can I still come to see you? Just have a meal, I won't disturb you."
After two seconds, Sheng Jianan nodded.
After looking at him for a moment, Jiang Chi suddenly grabbed his wrist and pulled him behind the wall, blocking his view from passers-by.
"Let me hold you for a while longer." Jiang Chi said in a hoarse voice, breathing heavily.
Without waiting for anyone's consent, he hugged the person in his arms.
Without outsiders around, Jiang Chi's hug suddenly became unbridled and full of possessiveness, absorbing Sheng Jianan's breath over and over again.
Every time Jiang Chi sniffed there, Sheng Jianan felt like a weak and helpless cat. Because Jiang Chi was stronger than him, he could easily control him, just like a kitten being held by its paws, completely at the mercy of others.
After a long while, Sheng Jianan felt the temperature on his neck getting hot and was about to remind Jiang Chi that it was almost time to go back.
Jiang Chi buried his head in his neck and said in a hoarse voice, "Sheng Nannan, grow up quickly."
The wind blew across a strand of hair on Sheng Jianan's forehead, and he squinted slightly in the night wind. For a moment, it seemed as if my heartbeat was stirred, and I felt a hint of anticipation.
A thought that was blown away by the wind before it could be captured.
-
In the next long six months, Jiang Chi would take a taxi to have dinner with Sheng Jianan almost every two days. It usually takes me more than ten minutes to take a taxi, and more than ten minutes to eat. After eating, I go back to school for evening self-study. I am in a hurry every day and cannot find a spare moment to walk a few steps.
These tormenting days continued until the end of the school entrance examination the following year, when Sheng Jianan returned to school and entered senior year to study academic subjects.
Although they are in different classes and can't see each other all the time, it is still much more convenient for Jiang Chi to be in the same school. At least you can see it during every class break.
For example, when going to the toilet, Jiang Chi would go to the toilet next to Sheng Jianan's classroom. A group of boys would pass by the door of Sheng Jianan's classroom, talking and laughing, which was very ostentatious.
Whenever this happened, the boys in the class would always tease Sheng Jianan. Jiang Chi would pretend to be calm, but in fact, the corners of his mouth had already curled up.
-
After class that afternoon, Sheng Jianan wanted to go home for dinner, and Jiang Chi came to pick him up.
He walked up the stairs next to Sheng Jianan's classroom, and just as he was about to step onto the last few steps, he heard a familiar voice.
"Is it because of Jiang Chi?" The squad leader's voice came into his ears, "Do you... like him?"
Jiang Chi paused, and the expression on his face instantly fell.
"...Now is the most important stage, I haven't thought about it so much for the time being." Sheng Jianan's polite and courteous voice sounded.
After that, he paused for a moment and added, "Class monitor, don't be distracted and study hard."
"...I know." The monitor said, "I mean I hope you can give me a chance to get along with me after the college entrance examination."
Maybe it’s because Sheng Jianan is too well-behaved. Although there are many people who like him, only a few have actually confessed their love to him. So he was not very good at dealing with confessions and even felt a little embarrassed.
Sheng Jianan thought for a few seconds and said tactfully: "This is not good."
"Why?" the monitor said, "Jia Nan, I think your personality and hobbies are very compatible with mine. I will respect everything about you and will not force you to do anything you don't like. I hope you can seriously consider who is more suitable for your personality."
Although Jiang Chi really wanted to drive away anyone who confessed to Sheng Jianan, he was also a little curious about what Sheng Jianan would do.
Jiang Chi put his hands in his pockets, leaned lazily against the wall, took out a bunch of keys from his pocket, played with the "Sheng Jianan" doll on it, and eavesdropped openly.
Some classmates came down the stairs and were stunned when they saw him standing there coolly. Then she walked past him with a shy face.
Jiang Chi glanced up unconsciously, but his attention was all on the two people behind the wall.
"...Don't think about it." Sheng Jianan's voice sounded, "Squad Leader, I'm sorry, I don't have this plan."
The squad leader looked at him for two seconds and asked, "Do you have no such plan, or do you have no such plan with me?"
Sheng Jianan lowered his eyes and said nothing.
Every time Jiang Chi’s problem was mentioned, he never denied it, but just changed the subject. In fact, his attitude was already very clear.
The monitor looked at him for a few seconds, sighed, and smiled: "Okay, I respect your idea, and I hope we can still be friends in the future."
"Okay." Sheng Jianan nodded.
After watching the monitor leave, Sheng Jianan breathed a sigh of relief, went back to the classroom to get his things, and prepared to go downstairs to find Jiang Chi.
However, as soon as he reached the corner of the stairs, his steps stopped suddenly.
Jiang Chi was sitting on the top step of the stairs, holding a small doll that looked like a human. He would pull the doll's legs, hands, and ears: "Sheng Nannan, who told you to listen to his confession? Huh? Who told you to?"
As he said this, he fiddled with the doll's mouth. As he was playing with it, he suddenly smiled, lifted up the doll and gave it a kiss: "You rejected it quickly, so I'll let you go this time."
Sheng Jianan: “…”
