Chapter 1 Baby Octopus

Before Qian Yuan died, all he heard was the piercing beeping of the medical equipment; there wasn't a single person crying for him.

But Qianyuan was not sad.

He no longer needs to be sick or take medicine.

But just when he thought he was about to be reincarnated, a system approached him, just like in those novels, asking him to win over characters in other worlds and gain their affection points. If he succeeded in the mission, he could be reborn.

Qianyuan really wanted to refuse.

However, the system was practically a shady operation; once it selected Qianyuan, she couldn't refuse and could only obey.

However, the system said, "We also have other services. You can choose your identity in the small world and even customize your character's appearance, so you can do whatever you want in that world!"

However, Qianyuan didn't even glance at it, showing none of the excitement or enthusiasm of the other hosts, as if the system hadn't given her enough.

Seeing Qianyuan's attitude, the system didn't want to say anything more: "If you don't want to pinch, then you'll have to accept it."

Qianyuan then slowly spoke up: "I want the rarest identity, to be sculpted in the size of a cub, and to be cute in a way that appeals to everyone's aesthetic sense."

Protecting the young is in the nature of every species, and by doing so, he can simply lie low.

The system had never seen Qian Yuan operate like this before, but it couldn't find anything wrong with it, so it could only grumble and say, "If you don't gain any emotional points, you can only truly die!"

Qianyuan: "Oh."

There is a kind of beauty in emotional stability.

The system was so angry it almost fell over. In the end, it just casually pinched Qianyuan a couple of times and threw her into the small world.

Qianyuan felt as if she had fallen asleep, feeling drowsy and at ease, as if she had returned to her mother's womb.

He was awakened when a bright light shone directly into his eyes.

But Qianyuan was still unable to move, and could only faintly hear human voices:

"We have captured a juvenile containable object that has not shown any aggression and is not yet awake. It may be bait left by monsters that shed their tails to survive."

"However, it also brings us one step closer to finding a way to survive."

"May the spark of hope never die out, and may humanity continue to exist."

......

Qianyuan fell asleep again amidst the voices of those people. When he woke up, he found himself in a glass container filled with shallow water.

He curled up in the water and floated freely, like a weightless jellyfish.

The gentle water cradled Qianyuan, a state he found very pleasant.

He slacked off for a while before finally stretching his limbs.

Hmm... it feels like there's another layer of membrane tightly wrapping him up.

Qianyuan opened his mouth, trying to bite through the restraint, but his movements caused him to tumble and roll in the water.

Mmm... O0... 00

He was like someone stuffed into a washing machine, spinning endlessly. It took a while for him to stop, but he had already begun to unconsciously blow bubbles.

Help! Help! Isn't anyone coming to save me?

Just then, the alarm finally sounded outside the door, followed by a series of beeps indicating a password was being entered, and several people walked in.

"Containment object C-036 has begun to hatch. We will monitor it closely."

I'm observing you, you bubbling teapot!

Qianyuan is about to faint!

Seeing that these guys were just standing by and doing nothing, Qianyuan could only continue to work hard on her own.

He tried to straighten his legs... Hmm? How many legs did he have? Never mind, he'd just kick them outwards.

With a "plop," Qianyuan broke free of the soft membrane and sank to the bottom of the tank.

He's so tired.

In the ensuing silence, someone reported: "Containment item C-036 has hatched, and it's currently a tiny... oh no, a tiny octopus hatchling?"

They all stared at the small, translucent, light blue octopus larva, no bigger than their hands, and all shared the same question:

This... this thing is considered a mutated monster?

Qianyuan lay limp and powerless, no longer able to pay attention to the complaints these guys were making about him.

The others, waiting in vain for Qianyuan's next move, couldn't help but ask, "Is this little thing going to die?"

"No way? It can't be that weak, can it?"

Qianyuan twitched her fingertips and curled them up slightly:

You're the weak one, your whole family is weak!

"Even if it really dies, that won't do. Does anyone here know how to feed an octopus?"

Everyone shook their heads; they were all observers, how could they possibly raise baby octopuses?

Until they called in their captain, Zhou Jinze, a senior researcher of containment objects.

Zhou Jinze was a soldier who had retired from the front lines. During a mission, he was unfortunately corrupted by a monster. A hideous scar ran down from his left eye onto his once perfectly handsome face, making him not only taciturn but also colder and more filled with hatred for monsters.

He walked up to Qian Yuan without saying a word, then showed his wrist, cut off a layer of skin and flesh from the inside of his wrist, and threw it into Qian Yuan's glass tank.

The little monster inside remained motionless, seemingly uninterested in human flesh and blood.

Qianyuan: Ahhhhhh, blood! My jar is dirty!! Don't touch me!

Zhou Jinze then snorted coldly: "Give him some human food and see if he'll eat it."

An apple was dropped down, and the listless little octopus fry floated over and landed on it.

It was smaller than an apple, so you couldn't tell whether he had eaten it or not.

If apples had health bars, they would probably slowly appear like -1-1.
