The cub, upon hearing the imperial physician's words, happened to meet Chong Qianjue's gaze.
Thus, Chong Qianjue actually saw in the child's eyes the meaning of staring at the stubborn, unjust child:
"I've already told you, you are my father. You love me so much, and you even sleep with me every day. Sigh, why won't you admit it?"
"Dad is so childish, more childish than the most childish person I've ever met."
Chong Qianjue patted the cub's head:
"You're talking nonsense again. I've never seen you before. Who is your mother? Where did you live before?"
Looking at Chong Qianjue's expression, the cub then noticed something was amiss.
Dad didn't seem angry, nor did he seem to be lying.
The cubs are getting anxious.
He pointed out the window to the largest building in the entire palace, then hurriedly and incoherently explained:
"It's living with Daddy, Emperor Daddy. We sleep together on the big dragon bed. Daddy says that dragon cubs should sleep on the dragon bed. Daddy also likes to touch my scales. Daddy also tells me to like Daddy very, very much..."
"My uncles and aunts are here too, the imperial physician, the celestial master, Master Ning, Changxiu, and my brother the shadow guard..."
The boy was afraid his father wouldn't believe him, afraid his father would forget him; tears welled up in his eyes, a look of grievance on his face.
"It's my father, Emperor Chongle, Chong Qianjue."
Chong Qianjue pieced together a possible truth from the cub's incoherent words.
Perhaps the child came from the future.
Putting aside the matter of ascending the throne, Chong Qianjue knew the names of the people the cub was talking about, and was very familiar with them. These were his hidden agents in the court, unknown to anyone else.
He was certain that these people had never seen the cub before, yet the cub could so confidently name them, as if it knew them very well…
And there's also what the cub just said to the imperial physician...
For a moment, one couldn't help but feel the disbelief and oppression brought about by the enormous historical changes.
This is indeed a secret that cannot be known to outsiders.
Perhaps the little guy really did come from the future, but why did he come to see me now?
Furthermore, Chong Qianjue simply did not believe that he had become the person the cub described.
He's someone who values his children and is a complete doting father, whose cloying behavior is so excessive that it makes him feel somewhat nauseous.
What kind of emperor is this?
He suspected that the cub's description of him was a way to settle personal scores and smear him.
He would never be someone who is swayed by useless emotions.
Just as Chong Qianjue was thinking this with such certainty, he saw that the cub, as it spoke, was starting to doubt itself.
"Alright, if you're not Father, then I'll be going now. I need to go find Father."
The cub sighed, jumped off the chair, and before leaving, didn't forget to pat its flat belly and whine to the palace servant beside it:
"Uncle, can I take some of these pastries with me? I'm so hungry. I'll just eat a few pieces so I have the strength to go out and find my father."
The little guy wasn't very tall; when he leaned on the table, only a pair of misty blue eyes were visible as he looked at him pleadingly, almost making the palace servant fall over with cuteness.
But no matter how cute or well-behaved they were, the palace servants dared not disregard the Fifth Prince's expression and could only lower their heads, pretending they couldn't hear or see him.
The cub's eyes darted around, and whoever it looked at, Chong Qianjue's gaze followed like a shadow, causing everyone to lower their heads and ignore Qianyuan.
Chong Qianjue, who was initially annoyed by the cub's departure, finally felt a little happier.
He suppressed the emotions rising in his eyes, watching as the cub had no choice but to return to his side, subtly pressing against his thigh.
"Chong Qianjue, please give your son some food. Thank you. Your son is leaving now."
Looking at the cub who called him by his full name, Chong Qianjue felt as if he had been honored, but he was not sure.
His lips pursed: "Didn't you call me Dad? Why aren't you calling me that anymore?"
The cub, hands on its chubby hips, said defiantly, "Didn't you say you weren't my daddy's?"
Chong Qianjue: "So you're going to go find your father?"
"Why is such a little kid walking? Aren't you afraid of being torn apart and eaten on the street?"
Chong Qianjue's gaze gradually hardened:
"If you follow me, I will definitely treat you better than 'him' in the future."
The cub wanted to argue, but he was too hungry, and Chong Qianjue, being incredibly shrewd, had already seen through this. As delicious dishes were served one after another, the little guy began to swallow his saliva shamelessly.
He looked at the light shining in the cub's eyes, as if there were crushed stars hidden in them. That emotion invisibly infected everyone around him. Even Chong Qianjue couldn't help but curl the corners of his mouth, completely unaware that his behavior was exactly the same as those adults who used candy to lure cubs.
He was subconsciously trying to keep the cub by his side, attempting to do so.
Chong Qianjue had already given orders to have soft, easy-to-swallow food cooked so that the cubs' mouths would suffer less. However, the cubs couldn't stop when they encountered something delicious, and would rather endure the pain than not chew a few more bites.
Seeing the tears in the cub's eyes, Chong Qianjue assumed it was because the food was so delicious that it made him cry.
Seeing the child like this made Chong Qianjue mistakenly believe that he wouldn't treat the child well afterward.
Otherwise, how could the little guy have become so hungry?
Could it be that he, the fifth prince and the future emperor, is unable to provide for the basic needs of a cub?
However, the cub clearly still likes his future self so much.
Chong Qianjue gripped the teacup tightly, and with increasing force, the teacup shattered into pieces. But even as he vented his anger, he didn't understand that the emotion he was feeling was jealousy.
