The two, who had been looked down upon by the cub, finally learned to shut up.
They stood silently on either side of each other, wishing they were eight feet away, almost standing diagonally across the entire room.
Only the little one remained obediently seated in the lounge, eating snacks and watching cartoons, waiting for his father to return.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
As Shen Cuifeng approached the door, he turned around, took a few steps to the door, and before he could grasp the doorknob, he seemed to sense something was wrong and turned to look at the situation outside the glass room.
Suddenly, targets not belonging to the orc military region appeared on the competition field. They were besieging Shen Qianyu, while other orcs who wanted to reinforce were trapped outside the competition field.
Someone took this opportunity to infiltrate their military base.
Their goal is the king!
Chen Cuifeng was lost in thought when he turned and met Yin Qing's gaze.
The next second, everything went black for the cub.
A majestic silver wolf carefully took hold of the back of his neck, around his collar, as if it were carrying a kitten, protecting it tenderly.
Silver Wolf, however, appeared poised and ready to fight.
Shen Cuifeng, who was in front of him, opened the door first and threw out a smoke bomb.
Damn it!
"They've found it!"
"Don't linger in the fight! Go and snatch the human cubs! The cubs are very weak; they won't dare to make any big moves!"
Yinqing let out a warning whimper; he could no longer tolerate that someone dared to plot against the cubs.
However, those people were right. Yin Qing and Shen Cuifeng were already too busy protecting the cubs to fight back while they were restrained.
At this moment, Shen Cuifeng would no longer think about his mutual dislike with Yin Qing. Their current task was to protect the cubs, and the safety of the cubs was paramount.
So Shen Cuifeng said to Yin Qing, "I'll cover you, you break through!"
Yin Qing did not reply, but his actions indicated that he acquiesced to Shen Cuifeng's suggestion.
Shen Cuifeng slammed into the encirclement, using his own body to clear a path for the cubs.
The cubs had witnessed the ruthlessness and cruelty of war in the last world, but the battles between wild beasts would be even more bloody.
But Yinqing didn't even have time to cover the cub's eyes.
The boy witnessed firsthand how someone shielded him from a knife and swallowed a sword, unconditionally sacrificing themselves for him.
The cub, witnessing this scene, imprinted the image of Shen Cuifeng's blood-stained back into its very being.
The boy didn't understand what loyalty or clan rules meant; all he understood was that there really were people who would unhesitatingly block a gun barrel for him.
His soul was deeply shaken by this.
He was clearly... he was just a useless child.
Yinqing also seemed to be bleeding, and the smell of blood permeated the cub's breath.
Tears blurred the cub's vision, and he couldn't see anything clearly.
But when he felt the warm liquid flowing onto his shoulder, Zai stopped crying. A piercing, uncontrollable, instinctive hunger overwhelmed all his emotions.
The baby rubbed his belly and muttered softly, "So hungry."
The feeling of being controlled by instinct and the obsession etched into their genes makes it impossible for the cubs to think about anything else.
Then, in the next second, a cloud of mist slowly rose from the cub, obscuring everyone's view.
Shen Cuifeng and Yin Qing had no idea what was happening and dared not move for a moment. They could only hear a huge creature passing over their heads, followed by crunching and chewing sounds. When the fog dissipated, only Shen Cuifeng, Yin Qing, and the cub remained.
Apart from the three of them, the room was spotless. The furniture and weapons scattered on the floor, as well as the blood and limbs, were gone. The room was as clean as an empty bowl that had been licked by a dog.
Shen Cuifeng, on the verge of death, was startled awake from his illness:
"what happened?"
Yinqing: ...
The cub lying not far away patted its bulging belly and burped.
Chen Cuifeng: ? !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !
His eyes were fixed blankly: "Am I hallucinating?"
Yinqing: ...
During those few dozen seconds of silence, Yin Qing was rapidly shattering and rebuilding his worldview.
Then, in the short time it takes to smoke a cigarette, Yinqing unhesitatingly chose to abandon all his common sense and synchronize his worldview with that of the cub.
He approached the cub firmly and asked with concern:
"Won't eating like this give me an upset stomach? Won't I feel bloated?"
The cub was whimpering, clearly dizzy from the carbon monoxide, and was becoming drowsy.
Okay, so eating a few carbon-based lifeforms (referring to space pirates) doesn't count as carbon sickness, does it?
Yin Qing was still a little worried. He was afraid that the baby's little belly might burst, so he carefully lifted the baby's clothes to look at the baby's soft, white belly.
Great, no mutation, still a normal little belly, with a round belly button, cute.
Yin Qing picked up the cub and glanced at Shen Cuifeng beside her: "It's not dead, is it?"
Shen Cuifeng, in a daze, thought, "It would be better to die."
Yinqing: "Your master is the one who's about to collapse."
Upon hearing this, Shen Cuifeng sprang to his feet and headed outside.
Yinqing is a lone wolf who fought his way up on his own, so he scoffs at the concept of family. Moreover, they are all cold-blooded animals, with no kinship whatsoever; they only band together for mutual benefit.
Why are you doing this?
Shen Cuifeng wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, a smile spreading across his face:
"I cannot fail to repay the kindness shown to me."
However, the cub will also remember Shen Cuifeng's kindness in protecting him.
