Just as he was thinking this, the sensation in his hand brought him back to his senses.
Yes, he had just searched the territory of this strange fish, thinking he had found a fry, but he only found a hybrid human baby.
The rather cute-looking cub in his arms stared at him blankly, seemingly unsure whether it was emotionally stable or simply slow to react, and hadn't quite caught up yet.
Those blue eyes were quite nice, much like crystal-clear seawater.
Mermaids love everything related to the sea.
However, silver-white hair is also beautiful. If he had a fish tail, it would be a rare silver-blue color, which would be very popular with mermaids.
And she has fair and tender skin.
It's so soft.
It feels like it would sink in if you squeezed it; it's so soft. I hope it won't make me cry...
Gobert's thoughts drifted away, wandering into all sorts of random ideas.
But when he came to his senses, Gobert realized:
No, how could he find another race's cubs cute?!
How can he possibly remain loyal to the king if things continue like this?!
Gobert was heartbroken.
The cub is still in a daze.
But after a while, the boy, a beat late, gently patted Gobert on the back.
Gobert was in even more pain.
How come this little guy can comfort people?!
Just as Gobert was repenting for his infidelity, news came from his men outside the door.
Those humans were still fighting desperately, trying to break through, as if this cub was of great significance to them, and they would protect it even if it cost them their lives.
Research team members: Nonsense! If that person finds the child is missing, not only them, but the entire galaxy will probably suffer.
For everyone's sake, we have to risk our lives.
Tell these merfolk to wait until Osiris returns, and he'll crush these baby-stealing bastards into mincemeat!
But they were no match for the warriors of the fish tribe.
Gobert also lost interest in asking these guys for the king; they had no idea where the king was and were only focused on rescuing the cubs.
But this cub seemed so important that Gobert, whose scheme had failed, wouldn't easily release it back into the wild.
Gobert had a sudden thought; he changed from carrying the cub to holding it in his hand and took it away.
Just after they used spatial magic to leave, Osiris received news from the research institute and rushed back.
He looked at the mess on the ground and the empty little fish tank, his expression quite unpleasant.
The room was still filled with the scent of a stranger, a mermaid.
Osiris looked into the void and almost saw Gobert's movements.
Gobert, cradling the cub, stood on the beach, about to enter the water. He completely forgot to consider whether the cub could swim; after all, mermaids are born in the water, and the ocean is their home.
This is their instinct.
So when Gobert entered the water and saw a string of bubbles coming out of his chest, he remembered that he had brought a human cub with him!
Do human babies drink water?
Gobert's brain went blank for a moment, then he suddenly flicked his tail and swam desperately outwards.
It was just a cub, and he didn't intend to kill it!
As a result, Gobert burst out of the water in the opposite direction like a deep-sea torpedo. He then disregarded everything, thinking about how to save him while taking the cub out of his arms.
The ability to perform first aid on humans was actually taught to me by my elders at home.
It is said that in the past, mermaids enjoyed hunting humans. When human ships entered the deep sea, mermaids would wait there, using their songs to bewitch the crew and make them abandon their lives and flee into the sea.
However, drowning people don't taste good; people who have been rescued are much more delicious.
That's why the mermaid secretly learned first aid methods from the crew.
But when Gobert was about to lift the seaweed covering the cub to save it, he was stunned by what he saw.
She was just a human cub a moment ago, how did she suddenly become a mermaid? She curled up in a ball, looking pitiful, like a little fish ball.
Pitiful yet adorable.
Gobert's first reaction was, "Ah, it really is a beautiful gradient tail."
It took a second reaction for him to snap out of the throbbing sensation that he had felt, a sensation unique to the merfolk.
It is the King!!!
Damn it, damn humans! Damn him! What has he done?!
These humans actually dared to disguise the king as a human child and hide him away; they have such audacity!
Gobert wanted to slap himself, and he would give humanity an even more scathing slap.
Wang remained curled up in a small ball, motionless, seemingly unresponsive to his calls.
It looks like...
Gobert was about to collapse, so he quickly called the merfolk doctor to examine him. The doctor examined him for a long time, then held the baby in his hands and rubbed it back and forth for a while before finally turning the hard little corpse back into a soft and bouncy little fish ball.
The boy coughed twice and spat out some of the seawater he had swallowed.
Only after the doctor confirmed that the pup was alright did he speak to Gobert:
"Wang seems to be too nervous about swimming and also very resistant to water, so he was shocked when he saw you swimming so fast..."
Gobert: "Huh? Huh?!"
doctor:"……"
Putting the phrase "fainted from fright" together with "mermaid" is quite presumptuous.
But after a moment of silence, Gobert couldn't help but ask:
"So, Your Majesty, you can't swim?"
"It seems so."
Mermaids: ...
So the merfolk found the king, but before they could return to Atlantis to celebrate, they couldn't get him back to the throne.
