Osiris was very, very close to him, but this distance was not ambiguous; rather, it was fraught with danger. Osiris was scrutinizing Qian Yuan from head to toe with the eyes of someone eyeing prey, as if he could crush Qian Yuan's neck in the instant they came close.
But Qianyuan wasn't afraid at all.
He let the fishtail wrap around his waist, ignoring the increasingly suffocating pressure, and reached out to hug Osiris's neck:
"But I'm not human, I'm a mermaid, I'm your child."
"Don't you think I look familiar, and genuinely find me adorable?"
Osiris froze.
What does this human mean? Is he using some kind of magic to bewitch him?
Osiris, though puzzled, suppressed the slight ripple in his soul that had stirred upon hearing Qian Yuan's words, and narrowed his eyes as he spoke to her:
"Stop using that manipulative voice of yours. You have no tail and no characteristics of a mermaid. How can you prove you're a mermaid?"
“My people are stupid, but you can’t fool me.”
Qian Yuan felt a little guilty upon hearing this. He hadn't noticed the wavering in Osiris's words at all, and obediently lowered his head, saying with a lack of confidence:
"I forgot how to conjure up a tail..."
"You didn't teach me..."
Upon hearing this, Osiris's blood pressure rose.
If he had fish fry, they wouldn't be such stupid fry, and he would never make such a basic mistake!
"Are you insulting me? I wouldn't have such stupid fish fry..."
But halfway through his speech, Osiris looked at Chiyori's face and couldn't bring himself to continue cursing.
Qianyuan truly trusts her father, and even now she shakes her head in defense of her father who is always jealous:
"No... You strictly control myself to become either a human or a mermaid in order to protect me from bad people."
"I know my dad is very gentle and loves me very, very much. He did all this to protect my identity from being exposed in the human world."
As Osiris listened to Qian Yuan's words, he felt as if he were hearing a foreign language.
Is this him?
Gentle? Full of familial love? Loving cubs?
Qianyuan said "Sricio" and it would never be "Osiris".
