Chapter 266 My Own Child

Osiris stayed with Qianyuan for as long as he slept.

Osiris's life, which used to consist of simply hunting for food, suddenly became busy because of a small fish fry that wandered in.

He didn't eat anything today, but large wild beasts can survive for days without food.

With Osiris's strength, he had never allowed himself to go hungry for so long.

But Osiris now dares not leave Qianyuan's side for even a moment.

All the mermaids attracted by the royal seal voluntarily hunted fish and brought them to him, but they were all small fish.

Osiris looked at them in confusion, and the merfolk said shamelessly:

"These are all for the fish fry."

Osiris laughed in exasperation.

These mermaids are truly "loyal," switching sides immediately once they're seduced by the fish fry.

Once Qianyuan's condition improved a bit, Osiris dared to move slightly, then rushed out at lightning speed and instantly killed a large, fat fish, swallowing it whole. He then swam back with his undigested tail still hanging from his stomach.

What's the difference between this and having children at home and being too afraid to travel far?

Osiris always felt that something would happen to the children if he was gone for even a second.

But when he rushed back, he found that Qianyuan was indeed gone.

He was startled, his sharp eyes sweeping across the surroundings, when he spotted the tip of a blue tail that hadn't been hidden behind a rock.

Osiris was very certain about the beautiful, shimmering tail that resembled a ribbon. He swam quickly behind the tail like a torpedo and, sure enough, caught a white angel hiding behind a reef.

Osiris embraced Chiyuki, gently stroking his knuckles, his gaze lingering on his face:

"You've grown up again."

Qianyuan has now transformed into her appearance as a young woman in her early twenties, having fully blossomed into womanhood.

Even Qianyuan herself has only seen her current appearance a few times.

Each time, it was due to various accidents, as if leaving after growing up seemed to be his destiny.

But he could not escape Osiris's gaze.

Now that Chiyori has grown up, she feels that Osiris is even more aggressive than before.

In the past, Qianyuan was a tiny seedling, and her father was the bay and safe haven that sheltered him, and the solid mountain in his eyes.

Even the slightly older Qianyuan can still be held in her father's arms and curled up in his broad embrace.

Now, the beautiful, fragile young man appeared before Osiris, almost eye to eye with him. The emotion in Osiris's eyes shifted from affection to a hint of admiration for his successor.

They were father and son, and also ruler and subject. He knew that his fish fry would grow to be far superior to him.

However, Osiris felt that apart from the fish fry turning into the current young man, nothing else was different.

So he still took Qianyuan into his arms without saying a word and swam with him into the cave.

Qianyuan looked down at her own tail, having no idea that she was good-looking.

That's why he was embarrassed to hide.

In Qianyuan's memory, the only time she had ever really looked at herself closely during her youth was when she was suffering from illness to the point of terminal illness in her original memory.

At that time, he had become so thin that he looked like a piece of white paper that would be torn to shreds by a gust of wind; ugly, weak, and emaciated, like a butterfly whose life force had been exhausted and was about to wither.

When anything reveals its dead state, all that remains is horror.

Although Qianyuan grew up in the small world afterward, the time was too short. He came without warning and left in a hurry, leaving only a miraculous bubble in the eyes of others, making them miss him countless times. As a result, Qianyuan did not have time to properly examine himself.

Qianyuan will grow up and take on responsibilities, but he cannot see himself as he is now.

He was afraid that he would become another sickly corpse that his father would throw away.

That's why Qianyuan subconsciously hid herself away, unwilling to see anyone.

However, now that Qianyuan is forced to look up and gaze at her reflection in her father's eyes, it doesn't feel too unfamiliar.

This is what he looked like when he grew up.

"Idiot, where do you think you're hiding?"

While calling out to him, Osiris was also checking his body for any other problems.

Until he saw a red scale, like a bloodstain, on Qianyuan's chest.

This is the new body that Osiris gave to Chiyori with his own blood and bones.

How can this not be considered his biological child?

These must be his own fish fry, his own offspring!

Osiris pinched Chiyuki's face, and under Chiyuki's puzzled gaze, her father grabbed her cheeks and sucked them hard.

Qianyuan immediately had the same teeth marks as her father on her face.

Although he still didn't understand why his father, who was the Mermaid King, was so childish and was still teasing his face.

He's clearly a grown-up merman! Not a fry!

"Because you look delicious."

Osiris answered.

Qianyuan is now considered to be growing up to the aesthetic standards of the merfolk. Osiris doesn't understand why Qianyuan still harbors timidity and insecurity.

He is such a precious baby, someone to be proud of. Anyone who gets such a beautiful baby would love him so much they'd want to melt his heart.

Osiris thought to himself, then placed his finger on Chiyori's heart, determined to answer her questions and point her in the right direction:

"You are a mermaid who inherited the will of the mermaid progenitor, my child by blood, and everything I have is everything to you. You were born into the deep sea, free, healthy, and mysterious, so you have nothing to fear."
