Chapter 402 is my own son.

Mephius could only be thankful that no one dared to record him humming, otherwise sooner or later he would have experienced the feeling of being publicly executed.

Mephisto didn't leave immediately after seeing the cub's fever subside. Instead, he stayed by the cub's bedside for a long time to make sure the cub wouldn't relapse before temporarily leaving the room to test his mental strength.

The cubs got up again without their father.

Mephisto thoughtfully left one of his coats for the cub, so that the cub wouldn't be unable to smell his father's pheromones and would cry again.

It seems that the cub has become much more independent since it stopped getting sick. It doesn't make a fuss and just sits quietly on the bed, hugging its father's clothes and lost in thought.

Actually, it's because the baby felt that he was already very clingy to his father when he was sick, and he was afraid that this new father would have a bad impression of him. He really didn't understand his father's emotions, so he planned to be well-behaved so as not to be disliked.

But when the butler entered and saw the little cub sitting quietly on a bed many times his size, clutching the general's clothes without moving, the butler's heart ached.

He first took a picture of the scene and sent it to Mephisto, then slowly approached the cub on the bed, smiling as he asked, "Young master, are you awake? Is anything bothering you?"

The butler had thought the baby would be shy and was prepared for the little guy to ignore or reject him, but to his surprise, the baby remembered the uncle who had held him and obediently said:

"The baby is doing well. The baby is healthy."

The butler watched as the little guy answered him softly, one question at a time, which was incredibly easy for him to handle, and his heart almost melted.

But at the same time, a feeling of heartache arose.

Has this child been bullied?

It's so sweet.

The butler had never seen an omega with this kind of personality before.

In Mephius's message that he would arrive soon, the butler tentatively reached out to the cub again:

"Daddy's not here, can I hug my baby?"

The cub nodded and crawled over, opening its arms.

The butler easily picked up the cub, stood there stunned for a moment, then covered his face and let out a sound:

"Oh my god..."

His voice even caused the cubs to keep pawing at his face, trying to get a better look at him, as if they were afraid he had some kind of illness.

They also care about people...

Mephisto saw the photo of the cub sitting alone in the room and rushed over immediately. He found that the cub had somehow taken over and was pulling the butler to lie down.

"I'm sick... I need to rest. Uncle, go to sleep."

The butler dared not lie down on the cub's bed, but he couldn't refuse the cub, so he simply sat on the edge of the bed, watching the cub walk unsteadily, and went to get him the cold medicine he hadn't finished drinking.

"General..."

The butler saw Mephisto standing at the door and couldn't help but call out to him.

Mephius knew what the butler meant, so he said directly:

“When I found him, he was living on a garbage planet, abandoned there, living alone. He was probably an omega artificially bred by some shady doctors, used and trained from birth. The first time he saw me, he called me dad.”

“He’s so young, it’s easy for him to live alone. He’s not surrounded by material comforts, and no one cares about him. He can take care of himself independently…”

The butler couldn't help but lose his composure and swore.

"These guys who have lost their reverence for genes will be tormented to death by pheromone rampages sooner or later! They have lost their conscience and virtues because of profit!"

The little boy didn't understand why his father and uncle's conversation had suddenly turned the atmosphere in the room serious.

He vaguely understood that they were talking about him.

So the cub got up again, wearing only socks, and went down to the ground. He hugged his father's leg, touched it to comfort him, and then hugged the butler's leg, burying his face in his knees.

The butler, observing that the cub, being an omega, showed no sign of tension or fear in the face of Mephisto's agitated pheromones, couldn't help but make a guess.

This is not just because the cubs are of a high level.

Even the highest-ranking omega will feel a sense of resistance to being hunted when their alpha experiences a mental breakdown and pheromone overflow. Therefore, the process of calming them down is always extremely difficult, unless they are partners. For example, public calmers face considerable pressure every day.

However, the cubs showed no resistance to Mephisto's pheromones, just like the betas who couldn't sense them. This led the butler to make a bold guess:

"General, would you like to have your blood tested along with the cub?"

Mephius had never considered this aspect; he never thought he would have an offspring before seeing the cub.

After all, it was his destiny to die from a mental breakdown. He had no intention of finding an omega partner, didn't particularly like omegas, and was even less willing to have another child, so that he could experience the fate of watching himself slowly walk towards death.

Having cubs was already a miracle he couldn't have asked for.

How could he possibly hope for anything else?

Mephius instinctively rejected that option, as if unwilling to think about it. Because that possibility also meant that the cub, in order to be manipulated into becoming a pleasing omega while still carrying Mephius's bloodline, must have suffered a great deal even before birth.

However, the blood test process is far too simple.

Before Mephisto could think any further, he had already gained a blood-related offspring, the only omega in the entire alpha family.

No wonder... no wonder...

Mephius finally understood that he had been influenced from beginning to end to feel like he wasn't himself.

That was indeed a call from fate.

But Mephisto's attitude didn't change because of the cub's new identity. Instead, he looked down at the cub and said with great relief:

"Thank goodness I opened the game back then, thank goodness I really came and took you away..."

"Whether you are my biological child or not, I will protect you and raise you to adulthood."

"However, now everything is in accordance with propriety. You are my child, and no one will dare to take you away."

Mephisto's pheromones reappeared, entangling the cubs, but were far less ferocious and aggressive than during the last riot. Instead, they resembled a beast tenderly cuddling its cubs. Although it still had the potential to kill someone with a single swipe of its claws, it was now gently stroking the back of the cubs' necks with its sharp claws.

The cub approached Mephisto, snuggled into his arms, and had its first formal pheromone exchange with its father.

This is a way of communicating between family members, and it only happens between spouses and relatives.
