Chapter 29
You're late.
As Jiang Fengyi stepped out of the elevator, she immediately saw the flowers and cake on the shelf outside the door.
She approached, picked up the bouquet, and its delicate, cool fragrance filled her nostrils. From the moment she saw the bouquet, she found it hard to look away.
The flowers are beautiful; they were designed entirely according to her aesthetic sense.
As Jiang Fengyi was moved by the thought and effort Xu Que had put in, her gaze drifted upwards and she saw a square card pinned to matte paper with a paperclip.
She opened it and took a look.
I don't know if you like this flower, but I think it suits you well. I hope it makes your day even happier!
The message on the card was handwritten by Xu Que, and at the end of the sentence, she also drew a big sunflower smiley face.
Jiang Fengyi could almost picture Xu Que's expression as he painted with his head down; he must have been completely focused.
Has Xu returned?
But why put things at the door?
Jiang Fengyi walked into the house with flowers and a cake, but the house was empty, and Xu was not home.
After thinking for a moment,
She dialed Xu Que's number.
After beeping for a long time, a mechanical female voice finally sounded.
"The number you dialed is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
Strange, what are you busy with?
Jiang Fengyi assumed she was inspecting the factory in the suburbs again, guessing that the signal might be bad, so she didn't call again to ask when she would be back.
It wasn't until her aunt said dinner was ready and they could eat that she realized Xu hadn't come home yet.
Jiang Fengyi knew her well; if she had personally promised something, she would definitely do it.
I kept calling her, but still no one answered.
Jiang Fengyi then realized that something was wrong.
When she returned and saw that Xu had left his things at the door but he wasn't there, she should have become alert and realized something was wrong.
After realizing what had happened, Jiang Fengyi immediately contacted the property management to retrieve the surveillance footage.
After seeing Jiang Xuan leave with Xu Que, all the pent-up emotions she had been suppressing could no longer be contained and erupted completely.
Jiang Fengyi, suppressing her anger, asked, "Mother, where did you take them?!"
Jiang Xuan on the other end of the phone pretended to be confused.
"Who are you? Who did I bring with me?"
“I have security cameras installed at my door.” Jiang Fengyi was too lazy to beat around the bush with her. “Give me back the person first, and just tell me what you want.”
To be fair, the two are indeed mother and daughter, and they are inexplicably similar in some ways.
Jiang Xuan remained silent for a few moments before finally speaking: "I agree to get engaged to Zhao Rufei."
“Impossible,” Jiang Fengyi refused without hesitation. “I have already registered my marriage with Xu Que. If you don’t want me to commit bigamy, then find someone else.”
"What!"
Jiang Xuan's voice cracked in the car, almost waking Xu Que, who was fast asleep in the back seat.
"When did she coax you into getting a marriage certificate?! I think you're really confused!"
"Let's change the terms. Send him back to me." Jiang Fengyi offered a concession. "I can give you back the 10% of the shares."
"What use are shares to me at my age?" she still wouldn't give up. "You can get divorced after marriage. Divorce her and get engaged to Zhao Rufei again."
"I'll try to persuade Rufei. She only has eyes for you, so I don't think she'll mind."
Jiang Fengyi sneered: "Mother, don't you understand that your heart and mind are only on me or on the company behind me?"
She said sternly, "I told you, divorce is impossible. You can still change your terms now. Once my people find that trail, you'll get nothing!"
Are you threatening me?
"Didn't you threaten me first?"
After he finished speaking, Ke Fan, the hacker who had been eavesdropping on their conversation, gave Jiang Fengyi a slight nod.
"If I don't tell, no one will be able to find her. If you hesitate any longer, I'll make sure you never see her again..."
"Beep beep beep..."
After receiving the hacker's notification, Jiang Fengyi stopped trying to reason with the other party and decisively hung up the phone.
"Found it?"
"We've pinpointed the caller's location, and they're still moving south of the city," she said, pointing to a red dot on the screen. "There's an airport in the south of the city; I suspect they're trying to move the person away."
"Send men to chase after them, the sooner the better."
Jiang Fengyi gripped the phone tightly, her fingertips turning white from the force, as if she felt nothing.
"We must stop them!"
On the other side.
Jiang Xuan was so angry that her daughter suddenly hung up on her that she smashed her phone and glared at the unconscious person lying in the back row.
She's the biggest scourge!
Send her away, quickly send her away, send her far away, so she doesn't stay here and ruin her plans.
The thought of Jiang Fengyi revealing on the phone that the two had already registered their marriage gave her a headache.
You don't need to be present to get a marriage certificate, but both parties need to be present to get a divorce certificate, which makes things a bit complicated.
She was so preoccupied with figuring out how to get them to divorce as soon as possible that she didn't notice the subtle movements behind her.
Xu struggled to open her heavy eyelids and warily looked around. Her hands were tied and her mouth was taped shut.
The culprit who harmed her was sitting in front of her, muttering things like, "Why is divorce so troublesome these days?"
Xu, fearing that Jiang Xuan would discover she was awake, closed her eyes again and cautiously squinted to observe the current situation.
Jiang Xuan switched to a different phone and made a call: "Is the flight arranged?"
Xu didn't hear the voice on the other end of the phone, but heard Jiang Xuan continue, "Land anywhere, the farther away the better, preferably never to come back."
"I've got Jiang Fengyi under control, so you don't need to worry."
“Her interest in Xu was just temporary; she’ll lose interest over time. But I will always be her mother, and she won’t do anything to me because of an outsider.”
Is it just a passing fad?
Xu couldn't be sure, but even if it was just a passing fancy, it meant that Jiang Fengyi was treating him differently from others at this time.
She is a special person.
The hands tied behind her back were secretly tightening. The person who tied the rope seemed not to have expected that Xu would wake up. The rope only loosely wrapped around her wrists a few times and tied a knot.
After struggling for a while, the ropes binding her hands loosened, and soon her hands were free again.
She remained silent, continuing to lurk in the back seat of the car, waiting for the most opportune moment to escape.
Jiang Xuan was still on the phone when she sat in the passenger seat and stretched her legs uncomfortably.
"We're almost there. I was worried, so I personally escorted her here." She rubbed her back, which was stiff from sitting for so long. "Now it seems there was absolutely no need for her to suffer like this."
"I was overthinking it."
"However, it's always good to be cautious."
Everything happened too smoothly; when Jiang Xuan and his group arrived at the airport, there was still an hour before their flight took off.
Jiang Xuan hates waiting more than anything else in his life: "If I hadn't failed to get my private airline application approved, I wouldn't have needed to come here to wait."
Upon receiving the notification, Zhao Rufei, who was waiting at the airport early in the morning, comforted him, saying, "A private jet is too obvious. Feng Yi will be able to find out the landing location and locate Xu Que soon."
“Airports are different. There are thousands of flights every day. Even if she finds out that someone departed from here, she doesn’t have the ability to know where they land.”
"After all, even we don't know, it's all done randomly."
During their conversation, Xu was lifted into a suitcase, where a cargo plane specifically for transporting goods was waiting for her.
However, because Xu, who was "unconscious," was uncooperative, it made packing difficult. The people below were also doing this kind of work for the first time under the boss's orders, and they were very inexperienced.
Seeing the bodyguards' clumsy movements, Jiang Xuan waved his hand helplessly: "Clumsy, never mind, you can rest for a while before lifting again. Anyway, there's still a long time before the plane takes off."
After she finished speaking, she turned to Zhao Rufei and discussed in detail the things to pay attention to at the engagement banquet, and that they should also consult a master to calculate the engagement date.
After a detailed conversation, Jiang Xuan discovered that there were quite a few things to worry about when organizing an engagement banquet.
Zhao Rufei could read her mind just by looking at her expression, and she said sensibly, "The engagement banquet should be simple, so as not to tire you out, Aunt Jiang."
Jiang Xuan patted Zhao Rufei on the shoulder: "What a sensible child. Why doesn't Jiang Fengyi have any respect for you?"
Touched on a sore spot, even the usually shrewd Zhao Rufei couldn't help but choke for a moment, and a crack appeared in her perfect smile.
But she quickly adjusted her mindset and continued to chat enthusiastically with Jiang Xuan.
The oblivious Jiang Xuan didn't notice her momentary unease, nor did he realize that one of the bodyguards was missing.
The bodyguards, who were keeping watch over the surroundings, found no danger and relaxed considerably; some even started chatting.
"Why did the captain take so long to go to the toilet? Could something have happened to him?"
"You underestimate the captain's abilities too much. Even if something happens to you, she won't be in any danger."
"Do you think she became captain by virtue of her popularity and being elected by vote? She earned it by fighting her way up, punch by punch!"
"She might be constipated..."
"What were you talking about?" the captain asked, returning. "I think I heard you mention me?"
"No, no..."
As Jiang Fengyi headed towards the target red dot, she turned off her phone screen, her eyes growing even colder. She instructed the bodyguard driving the car, "Faster."
"President Jiang, this is already the fastest speed possible."
Jiang Fengyi arrived at the airport in the shortest possible time with her bodyguards. Hacker Ke Fan, who was walking at the front, stared at the red dot on the screen and led the way for everyone.
The further we walked, the more remote it became, from the brightly lit indoor space to a secluded corner of the warehouse.
"Almost there, only a hundred meters from the target..."
"Fifty meters..."
"Twenty meters..."
Jiang Fengyi slowed her pace upon seeing Jiang Xuan and whispered to the bodyguards behind her, "You begin your operation."
She continued walking forward until she appeared openly before Jiang Xuan.
"What a coincidence, Mother, we meet again."
Jiang Fengyi turned her head to look at Zhao Rufei next to Jiang Xuan.
"I didn't expect Miss Zhao to be here too. May I ask where you two are headed?"
Zhao Rufei was surprised that Jiang Fengyi had caught up with them so quickly. Helpless, she looked at Jiang Xuan and asked for her help.
Jiang Xuan brushed past her, looked at Jiang Fengyi, and sneered: "I underestimated you."
“Your skills are getting better and better now.” She seemed unconcerned. “But even if you come, you won’t be able to find her.”
Jiang Xuan deliberately lied to her: "You're too late, I already sent the person away."
