Chapter 10
Do you have a crush on President Jiang?
Jiang Fengyi caused the Zhao family a lot of trouble, and life finally returned to normal. Xu Que also moved back to his own home from Jiang Fengyi's house.
Xu was very enthusiastic about her assistant job, which was much easier than before she became a full-time employee. Her job was simply to revolve around Jiang Fengyi.
This makes her full of energy at work every day: "I love being an assistant!"
He Shuyi corrected her: "Even assistants have different roles. Since you are President Jiang's personal assistant, you only focus on President Jiang, so your work is easy."
"If you're an assistant to the general manager like Sister Wu, you'll have to attend many meetings and sometimes even take the place of General Manager Jiang to push forward various tasks. You'll be so busy every day that you won't have time to rest."
She pointed to herself: "I am an administrative assistant. I only need to carry out the tasks assigned by my superiors, which is relatively easy."
After analyzing the situation, Xu discovered that her job was the easiest, and she was actually holding two jobs: one as an assistant and the other as a couple pretending to be an assistant.
In order not to feel burdened by taking money, Xu couldn't help but focus too much of his energy on Jiang Fengyi.
"Has President Jiang's meeting been going on for two hours now?"
He Shuyi glanced at the time in the lower right corner of the computer screen: "That's about it. That's how meetings are; they easily drag on."
Xu stood up and said, "I'll go prepare some food for President Jiang. She didn't eat much at noon."
He Shuyi opened her mouth wide, wanting to ask her, "How did you know she didn't eat much at noon? Did you two eat lunch together? Your relationship is definitely unusual."
Although she was inwardly screaming, she only gave a faint "hmm" on the surface and considerately asked if she needed any help.
Xu naturally refused, since He Shuyi didn't receive any extra salary and therefore didn't need to put in any extra work.
He Shuyi, who remained at her workstation, was not as calm as she appeared.
After several days of careful observation, she discovered a big secret!
There's something fishy going on between Xu and President Jiang!
Although I knew beforehand that Xu was related to President Jiang, I only guessed that it was because they were relatives, and I didn't think about it in terms of feelings.
As the two grew unusually close, she dismissed the possibility of them being relatives.
She reasonably guessed,
Xu seems to have a crush on her boss!
But President Jiang's reaction was quite good. Not only did she not stop them, she even tacitly allowed them to continue!
She understood; so this was a case of connections!
He Shuyi was excited. She had only been working there for a short time and she had already gotten her hands on some gossip about her boss!
Although she hasn't found any evidence to prove it, He Shuyi firmly believes that her sixth sense is correct.
At first, she only regarded Xu Que as a relative of President Jiang and did not notice anything wrong. However, as Xu Que relaxed a little, she began to notice something amiss.
Xu always knew everything about President Jiang in private, such as how much he ate at the last meal and whether he slept well at night—trivial matters that only close confidants would know.
Wait a minute, could it be that Xu Que is living with President Jiang?
It's not impossible.
On the other side,
After ordering the fruit slices, Xu also brewed a cup of chrysanthemum and goji berry tea for Jiang Fengyi, which is good for clearing the liver and improving eyesight and is suitable for people who spend long hours in front of the computer.
Back at her workstation, she noticed that He Shuyi next door was looking at her strangely.
here we go again,
This is the look in your eyes when you're actually watching the drama unfold.
To be honest, He Shuyi has been acting strangely these past few days, and even the frequency with which she drags me to the break room to eat snacks and gossip has decreased.
Xu could only ask, "What's wrong?"
He Shuyi initially wanted to pretend she didn't know, since it was her boss's private matter, but her love of gossip made her unable to suppress her curiosity, and she stared at Xu, hesitant and undecided.
After Xu sat down, he clicked on Jiang Fengyi's private profile picture and sent her a message reminding her to eat something after the meeting and to put fruit on her office desk.
Looking up, I saw He Shuyi's hesitant expression.
"You can just tell me what's on your mind between us."
After spending this time together, Xu had come to regard He Shuyi as a friend.
He Shuyi subtly inquired about her residence: "Where do you live? If it's on our way, we can walk together after get off work."
What I really wanted to ask was: Do you live with President Jiang?
It just so happens that Xu Que moved back to her own home from Jiang Fengyi's place today. If He Shuyi had brought it up a day earlier, she wouldn't have agreed.
“I live in Sunshine Garden,” Xu said, referring to the name of the old residential area.
He Shuyi, with her eyes closed, said, "It's on our way, so let's walk together after get off work."
While Xu Que was working, He Shuyi searched for Sunshine Garden on the map, which showed that it was an old residential area.
This doesn't make sense. It's impossible for President Jiang to live here with Xu Que. And judging from the way Xu Que blurted it out, he didn't seem to be making up a lie to deceive me.
She still wouldn't give up and continued to ask, "I've often seen you and President Jiang walking home together these past few days." The more curious she became, the more nonchalant she pretended to be. "Are you two going the same way?"
When the topic of Jiang Fengyi was brought up, Xu's mind immediately became much sharper.
"So that's why you were acting strange. You wanted to ask me about President Jiang's address."
Xu's smile vanished: "I advise you to give up on that idea. I will not reveal any private matters concerning President Jiang to you."
Besides the two women and Wu Qi, there were two other fervent fans in the president's office who were captivated by Jiang Fengyi's personal charm and joined Jingjiang Technology to meet their goddess.
What other job could be easier to get close to the goddess than being Jiang Fengyi's personal assistant? After going through layers of screening, he only found out after joining the company that the goddess actually had so many assistants.
Now Xu categorizes He Shuyi and He Shuyi into the same group.
"You've misunderstood, I'm not like that."
Xu nodded perfunctorily: "Yes, that's what everyone says."
*
The meeting ended.
Jiang Fengyi finally had time to check her phone. Apart from a few work notifications, Xu Que's profile picture was the most noticeable.
She slowly flipped through the messages. Xu initially asked how long the meeting would last, then mentioned that there was fruit and herbal tea on her desk, reminding her to eat them. The last message was sent half an hour earlier.
He Shuyi is acting strangely; she wants to know your home address. I suspect she's also a huge fan of yours.
Jiang Fengyi couldn't help but recall her few encounters with He Shuyi.
Every time, Xiao He would get so nervous that she didn't know where to put her hands, looking exactly like a subordinate who didn't want to see her boss.
Could there be a mistake? I don't think she really wants to see me.
When Jiang Fengyi returned to her office, she immediately noticed the extra fruit and herbal tea on her desk.
The dried flowers, soaking in hot water, fully bloomed. Jiang Fengyi took a sip, and the warm tea flowed down her throat and into her internal organs. The faint floral fragrance dispelled the fatigue from her long meeting.
Jiang Fengyi was very pleased with Xu Que's preparations. Sometimes she would think that even if she didn't find Xu Que to play her partner, she would still recruit her to be her assistant.
In the office,
Jiang Fengyi is leisurely enjoying afternoon tea.
Outside the office,
Xu stared at He Shuyi, and once the seed of suspicion was planted, he felt that there was something wrong with the other party in every way.
I treated you as a friend, but it turns out you only did it to get close to me and to President Jiang.
He Shuyi on the other side was truly wronged.
Only a few days had passed, and she began to miss the day when Xu Que first joined the company. Xu Que, a complete newcomer, would always ask her questions before doing anything.
It's nothing like now; they're practically looking at me like I'm a corporate spy.
She decided to throw caution to the wind and poured out all her doubts.
"Do you have a crush on President Jiang?"
Xu was so surprised that her phone fell to the table. She was about to reply to Jiang Fengyi's message when He Shuyi's question shocked her so much that she didn't know how to react.
"Look at you, you become a completely different person the moment you mention anything about President Jiang. It's not that I'm observant; anyone with a keen eye can see it."
Xu glanced around, thankfully no one heard.
"Keep your voice down."
Feeling guilty, she then asked, "Is it...is it that obvious?"
He Shuyi lowered her voice: "I don't know about the others, but I recognized them at a glance."
While enjoying the gossip, she couldn't help but compliment her: "You have good taste. President Jiang is young, beautiful, and knows how to run a business. You're not the only one who has a crush on her."
Xu, who was worried that his identity would be exposed, breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
Thank goodness, I hadn't noticed before, I almost exploded.
She then asked, "Oh? Who else has a crush on President Jiang?"
He Shuyi listed them to her: "Lily from the HR department, Amy from the marketing department, and the two young ladies from the Zhao family."
Xu was confused: "Didn't President Jiang only go on blind dates with the eldest daughter of the Zhao family? How come he's involved with the second daughter of the Zhao family?"
He Shuyi, as expected, joined the company earlier than Xu Que, and heard just as much gossip as Xu Que.
She leaned close to Xu Que's ear, covered her mouth with her hand, and whispered, "I heard that the second young lady of the Zhao family fell in love with President Jiang at first sight, which is why she begged her family to send her to Jiang Fengyi's company."
"There's more to this story?"
Xu stared wide-eyed, realizing that even Jiang Fengyi herself probably didn't know about this.
He Shuyi asked gossipily, "So when did you fall for President Jiang?"
Xu was preoccupied with telling Jiang Fengyi about Zhao Ruxuan. When He Shuyi asked her, she replied half-truthfully, "I fell in love with President Jiang at first sight on the very first day I met her."
She will always remember that day.
A typhoon was approaching, and the wind was raging outside the window. The moment she saw Jiang Fengyi, her heart skipped a beat.
He even forgot about his long-cherished dream of getting a permanent position, focusing only on Jiang Fengyi in front of him.
"Oh, are you reminiscing?"
He Shuyi's voice brought her back to reality.
She nodded seriously: "But our CEO Jiang's face does have the power to make people fall in love at first sight." As she spoke, she patted Xu Que on the shoulder, "But you're not bad either."
"Think boldly, maybe President Jiang will also develop feelings for you one day."
He Shuyi mused to herself, "Although many people like President Jiang, I firmly support you, sister. Putting everything else aside, just the two of you together are a perfect match."
She's an absolute sucker for good looks; beautiful women should be with other beautiful women. Therefore, it was only natural that she became a fan of their on-screen couple.
Xu blushed slightly, unable to continue shamelessly responding to her.
You can't exactly reply to her: "Sister, actually, Mr. Jiang and I are already a couple."
Xu had no choice but to stand up and hastily make up an excuse for himself.
"I'm going to the restroom."
He Shuyi watched her retreating figure as she turned and entered President Jiang's office.
This is such a perfunctory response!
