Side Story: The Legend of Chi You

In ancient times, there was an ancient god named Chi You.

Chi You swept across all the heavens and myriad realms, earning the title of God of War!

However, Chi You's power aroused the fear of those in the highest planes, who sealed his limbs and bones in countless lower dimensions, and the world was no more without the war god Chi You.

All that exists is the power of Chi You.

Those who inherit Chi You's power will inherit Chi You's name.

And so it has been passed down to this day.

...

Gu family.

Destiny Pavilion.

An elderly man was in a small room. His white hair almost completely covered his body. If it weren't for the skin showing, he would look like a giant ball of fur.

Countless floating candle flames surrounded the old man, leaping around him as if they were alive, until the moment these candle flames turned dark red, all the flames went out at that instant!

At this moment, the old man slowly stood up and murmured, "A thousand years is a cycle, and the power of Chi You has finally entered the cycle of reincarnation."

As the old man finished speaking, a boy was born into the lowest plane of this realm.

The fate of the entire realm was thus altered.

...

Ten years later, the Gu family.

Countless young boys and girls were learning ancient family secret techniques, but one boy sat sullenly on the steps not far away. Moreover, his master, who was instructing the children, was also watching the boy warily, for there was a family decree.

Ancient Chi You was forbidden from practicing any martial arts.

Therefore, when the disciples of the Gu family had free time, they would laugh at him, calling him a good-for-nothing and a jinx!

Ancient Chiyou felt very aggrieved.

He had been with the Gu family since he could remember, but the elders all said that his parents died in an accident and were heroes of the Gu family. Because of this, the boy was very proud that his parents were heroes. However, the family required him not to practice martial arts and even not to leave the Gu family's control. As time went on, he grew increasingly eager for the outside world and power.

Fortunately, he still had one friend.

Ancient jade separated.

Gu Yuli is the granddaughter of the Gu family's eldest elder, two years older than him. She is exceptionally talented among her peers and often stands by Gu Chiyou's side when she sees him being bullied.

Perhaps this was Chi You's only friend.

Seeing Gu Chiyou's sullen appearance, Gu Yuli sat down beside him with a gentle smile and said, "Are you still thinking about practicing martial arts?"

Ancient Chiyou nodded.

Gu Yuli rested her chin on her hand and said, "Perhaps the elders meant well. Your parents are heroes, and you are their only son. They don't want you to be caught up in the flames of war and follow in their footsteps."

Gu Chiyou pursed his lips and said, "I understand the elders' intentions, but I am not willing to live such a mediocre life."

After saying that, Gu Chiyou sighed, hugged his knees, and continued to watch the young men sweating on the training ground.

There was a moment of silence.

Gu Yuli patted his shoulder and laughed, "If not, I'll teach you."

Gu Chiyou said incredulously, "Huh? But... the elder didn't cancel the order, so whoever teaches me martial arts will be punished."

Gu Yuli, holding Gu Chiyou's hand, laughed and said, "Anyway, you won't be satisfied if you don't learn, right? We can learn secretly and not be discovered, right?"

Ancient Chiyou was stunned.

Then Gu Yuli said, "Or do you think I'm not a good teacher?"

"No, no, no!" Gu Chiyou quickly waved his hand and laughed, "It's just... too unexpected, too happy!"

"Then you'll have to call me Master," Gu Yuli said with a playful smile.

"Master!" Gu Chiyou greeted him without hesitation, clasping his hands in a fist salute.

"Hehe! Then hurry up and go. With your master around, no one can hurt you!"

"Um!"

...

This continued for a full year.

Gu Chiyou's strength improved by leaps and bounds! Under Gu Chiyou's comprehension, Gu Yuli mastered most of the martial arts she had learned in just one year! And the more he learned, the more Gu Chiyou loved the path of martial arts.

According to Gu Yuli, perhaps this is what inheritance means.

Just as they were exchanging martial arts tips, they were accidentally discovered by some young disciples, who then reported it to the main hall.

Inside the main hall.

The Second Elder and many other elders of the Gu family discussed the matter. Some advocated killing him, while others advocated maintaining the principles of the past eleven years.

"The Grand Elder is truly indecisive! The power of Chi You is a great scourge to the world! If we had eliminated him earlier, there would have been no need for all this trouble! Hmph! Now his granddaughter has been teaching ancient Chi You martial arts without permission. Gentlemen, what do you say about this ancient Chi You? Should he be killed or punished?"

"Kill him!"

"Kill them to prevent future troubles!"

"..."

Many elders agreed with the Second Elder's decision.

The power of Chi You has been recorded since ancient times. If he is allowed to grow, there will be another great demon in the world!

However, just as the elders were all determined to awaken their powers, the Fourth Elder said, "Everyone, the First Elder once said that the power of Chi You will awaken when the host is on the verge of death or in despair! As it stands, the ancient Chi You's condition is relatively stable. Why should we force him? If we fail, what if the ancient Chi You truly awakens the power of Chi You..."

Before the Fourth Elder could finish speaking, the Second Elder said coldly, "Fourth Elder, when did you become so cowardly? Gu Chiyou is just a child, and the martial arts he stole are only valid for a year. If we just strike and kill him as soon as possible, how can he have any time to despair or be on the verge of death?"

"He will die by my hand the moment he is born!"

All the elders nodded in agreement; this might be the best time to eliminate the power of Chi You!
