"Alright, everyone get to work! If we keep going like this, what time will we get dinner ready?"
Wang Tiemin suppressed his bitterness and emotion and stepped forward to direct everyone to get to work quickly.
"Zhao Da Maozi, go and divide the meat, three ounces for each family, and stew the rest tonight."
"Tianhong, go and organize everyone to line up. Tell them to take their things home and come back to help as soon as possible."
"Yang Ersha, tell everyone to mark their tables, chairs, and benches so they can't find them after the meal."
"......"
Soon, everyone was mobilized and had their own tasks to do.
Only Wang Dabao didn't get any work assigned, so he helped out here and there.
Aunt Li waved to Wang Dabao, and when he got closer, she smiled and said, "Dabao, my family is from Wujiagou, which is more than ten miles away from here. I have a niece who is nineteen years old this year. I'm not lying to you, she's very pretty and she's definitely a good housekeeper. Let me introduce you to her."
“Da Bao should indeed get married, but his niece, Second Aunt, must be as beautiful as a fairy, otherwise she is not good enough for our Da Bao.”
Before Wang Da Abao could reply, Zhao Da Maozi's wife chimed in.
"Honestly, with Da Bao's looks and temperament, he really won't have trouble finding a wife. Now that he has a job in the city, he should be even more selective. I think we should introduce him to a few more girls so that he has a better chance of finding a girl he likes."
The speaker was Wang Tianxing's wife, the second son of Wang Tiemin. After a moment of silence, Wang Tianxing's wife continued speaking.
“I have four sisters in my family, and I am the second oldest. When I was a young woman, I was one of the most beautiful women in the surrounding villages. To be honest, if Wang Tianxing hadn’t begged me so persistently, I wouldn’t have come to Wangjialou Village.”
Wang Tianxing's wife turned to look at Aunt Li: "Second sister-in-law, when I married into this family, I was considered the prettiest wife in the village, wasn't I?"
"That's true."
Aunt Li nodded, though she didn't know why Wang Tianxing's wife asked that question, she still gave an affirmative answer.
"Right?"
"Speak," Wang Tianxing's wife said, looking at the bewildered Wang Dabao. "Dabao, let me tell you, my fourth son is way better looking than me. He has such a great figure, everything he could want is there. You could pinch his cheeks so hard you'd feel water coming out. And he's educated..."
"Tianxing's family, wait a moment."
Aunt Li finally realized something was wrong. She was trying to introduce a potential partner to Da Bao, and it turned out that you had come here to steal him away.
I just introduced my niece, and you're already introducing your sister!
“If your sister gets together with Da Bao, wouldn’t that mess up the family hierarchy? That won’t do.” Aunt Li’s brows furrowed deeply.
Wang Tianxing's wife waved her hand dismissively: "What do you mean by seniority? The two kids are willing, that's what matters most. I genuinely think they're a good match. I feel at ease entrusting my own sister to Da Bao."
"You can't just think they're a good match; the two kids have to be compatible first."
Aunt Li felt a little jealous. Wang Tianxing's wife was indeed beautiful, with a small oval face, double eyelids, and thin lips. She had a good figure when she first married into the family, but her body changed after she had children.
Even so, she is still better than many young wives in the village.
If what she said is true, and her fourth sister is even prettier than her, then her niece really has no chance at all.
Zhao Da Maozi's wife found it somewhat amusing, reached out and patted Wang Da Bao, gesturing for someone to speak.
"Auntie, what's wrong?"
Wang Dabao let out a long breath. He felt like he couldn't breathe properly while he was sitting there. Luckily, Aunt Zhao came to his rescue.
Zhao Da Maozi's wife gave Wang Da Bao a mysterious look and asked, "Da Bao, I just heard that you work at a steel rolling mill in the city?"
"yes."
"It's like this, my uncle is the workshop director in your area. He only has one daughter. She's tall and fair-skinned. She's not particularly beautiful, but she definitely has that... you know, I mean, charisma, right? Yes, charisma."
Zhao Da Maozi's wife was a little smug. "My aunt is also a cadre in the meat processing plant. My cousin is truly the apple of our eye. She has high aspirations and refuses to be introduced to any of us."
Then, the conversation shifted abruptly.
“But the older woman thinks you’re good enough. Whether it’s your height, appearance, or character, you’re impeccable. The two of you know each other well.”
Wang Dabao was a little confused. Had he really gotten to know this girl inside and out?!
"Do you know what's most important?"
Zhao Da Maozi's wife emphasized her words.
Wang Dabao blinked: "Auntie, what do you think is the most important thing?"
"Silly boy, his dad is the workshop director, which will be helpful to your work. Besides, the family is well-off, so you don't have to worry about anything. In the future, the old couple can even take care of your children."
Zhao Da Maozi's wife had an expression on her face that said, "You little rascal, you've gotten a great deal."
After tidying her hair, Zhao Da Maozi's wife seemed to remember something and slapped her forehead: "I misspoke just now, that's not the most important thing."
"ah?"
Wang Dabao wanted to run away, but when he looked around, everyone was busy and no one nearby would say a word to help him out of his predicament. He could only grit his teeth and continue talking to Zhao Da Maozi's wife.
"So what's the most important thing for the older woman this time?"
"Most importantly, my cousin is from the city and I heard she's going to be a teacher. You'll have something in common to talk about, what's that called again?"
"A common topic!"
"Yes, that's the topic. Da Bao, you're so cultured."
Zhao Da Maozi's wife slapped her thigh and continued, "This very important baby, I'm not lying to you, a husband and wife need to chat and talk often, what do you mean by that?"
