Chapter 263 Qin Huairu's Dilemma, Sha Zhu Promises to Solve It

There was still no queue by the well in the middle courtyard; Liu Haizhong had gotten up way too early.

After wandering around outside Sha Zhu's house for a while and noting down a few things that needed improvement, Liu and Yan were about to go to He Yushui's side room and Yi Zhonghai's east wing.

Then Qin Huairu came out of her house carrying a basin and greeted the two of them hurriedly.

"Uncle, Uncle, what are you doing?"

"It's Huai Ru."

Yan Bugui waved the notebook in his hand and said with a smile, "Isn't this to prepare for the screening event before the New Year? We need to tidy up the courtyard. Old Liu and I will visit and inspect the areas that need to be rectified."

Upon hearing this, Qin Huairu hurriedly said, "A film screening? We're cleaning up our courtyard to prepare for the screening, which means we'll be showing a movie in our courtyard?"

“Yes, Xu Damao is a projectionist, right? Our theater has that kind of convenience.”

Then, Liu Haizhong changed the subject: "However, there are quite a few places in your house that need tidying up. You'll have to talk to your mother-in-law and Dongxu about it and ask them to cooperate."

Qin Huairu filled the basin with water and nodded, saying, "Don't worry, gentlemen, this is a certainty. The courtyard will be cleaner and everyone will feel more comfortable living here."

Yan Bugui sighed and couldn't help but praise, "Old Liu, listen to what Huai Ru said. It's so pleasing to the ear. She's much better than her mother-in-law. I think Huai Ru should be in charge of this family from now on."

Liu Haizhong glanced at Qin Huairu and nodded in deep agreement.

As the three were talking, Sha Zhu hummed a little tune and walked out of the door, slowly putting on his cotton-padded coat.

"Hey you two, are you checking my household registration? You're even taking notes!"

Sha Zhu hurriedly came out of the house after hearing Qin Huairu's voice. He hadn't noticed who Qin Huairu was talking to before, but when he went out, he found out it was these two.

"Let me see what I've written down!"

Sha Zhu reached out and snatched the notebook from Yan Bugui's hand, making Yan Bugui glare angrily. However, fearing that Sha Zhu would damage the notebook by pulling it, he had no choice but to let go.

“Shazhu, this screening event is also an opportunity for you unmarried young people.”

Fearing that Sha Zhu might cause trouble, Yan Bugui quickly said, "Think about it, several unmarried young women from the neighboring courtyards will also come over. If this event is held in the Central Courtyard, it will be in front of your house. If you tidy up your house and surroundings, that will be an attractive feature."

Finally, Yan Bugui recounted the story of tidying up the courtyard, and several neighbors who were fetching water nearby gathered around.

Although none of these families have any eligible unmarried young people in their homes, watching a movie in front of their houses might be a good thing. As for tidying up the area in front of their houses, those are minor matters.

"It's just wiping the walls, don't worry about it, I'll take care of it when I have time."

Sha Zhu patted his chest and said, "I'm definitely fine here. If you need any manpower, you can call me."

Upon hearing that the screening event would attract young women, Sha Zhu was immediately thrilled.

He's already starting to recall where he put the shoe polish he used last time, what clothes he should wear on that day, how he should style his hair, and how he should polish his shoes to a high shine.

Liu Haizhong nodded in satisfaction: "Good job, Shazhu. You've been quite enlightened lately. I'm relieved to hear you say that. Actually, Lao Yan and I have no selfish motives. Everything we do is to serve the residents of the compound and our neighbors."

After saying that, Liu Haizhong and Yan Bugui prepared to walk eastward to continue inspecting the areas that needed rectification.

"Hey, Uncle, Uncle, could I also take a look at my house and see where it needs to be renovated so I can get it done in advance?" Qin Huairu called out to the two men.

Upon hearing that Qin Huairu had a need, Sha Zhu immediately perked up and stepped forward to snatch the notebook from Yan Bugui's hands again.

"Shazhu, can't you have some manners? This is Jie Kuang's homework. You tore it up. How am I supposed to explain this to him when I get home?" Yan Bugui glared at Shazhu and scolded him, then took the notebook and walked over to Qin Huairu.

Sha Zhu stood there awkwardly, not because of Yan Bugui's scolding, but because this was Yan Jiekuang's homework notebook!

If he really breaks it, with Yan Jiekuang's mentally unstable mind, he might even try to cut himself with a kitchen knife!

Yan Bugui pointed out the areas in the Jia family's home that needed improvement to Qin Huairu, but this startled her.

"so much?"

Qin Huairu opened her mouth in surprise.

Yan Bugui nodded and pointed, "This can be done by Jiefang, Guangtian and Dongxu together, but you'll have to handle the lacquer doors yourself."

"But my family is struggling right now, where would we get the money to buy paint?"

Qin Huairu looked troubled. "It's fine if it's just tidying up the clutter at the entrance, but my mother-in-law definitely won't agree if it costs money."

Liu Haizhong, with his pregnant belly, approached and said, "Painting the doors and windows is for the sake of our own homes. The New Year is just around the corner, and we need to tidy up the place to add some new ideas. I've discussed it with Lao Yan, and we'll all go together to buy paint. It won't cost each household much, just a few cents."

"Three or five cents?"

Qin Huairu looked at Sha Zhu with pitiful eyes.

Sha Zhu immediately understood and patted his chest again: "Oh, Sister Qin, it's just a few cents, I'll cover it for you later."

"Zhu Zi, then thank you in advance." Qin Huairu gave Sha Zhu a flirtatious wink.

If Liu Haizhong and Yan Bugui hadn't been there, Sha Zhu would have definitely gone up and patted Qin Huairu on the shoulder, indicating that there was no need to be so polite.

With a creak, Yi Zhonghai came out of his house.

He didn't sleep a wink all night, working late into the night.

I was inside listening to the commotion outside, and my heart almost exploded with anger.

I just came up with a way to boost my reputation and try to reclaim my position as the manager, and then Liu, Yan, and Xu put together a movie screening event. What bad timing!

"Hey Lao Yi, you've come at the perfect time."

Yan Bugui turned around and saw Yi Zhonghai, and quickly called out to him, "You need to deal with these coal blocks in front of your house. Our courtyard is planning to hold a movie screening in the middle courtyard in a few days. Neighbors from the neighboring courtyards will be coming."

“Look, it doesn’t look good to have all this coal sitting here. You used to be the manager, so I’m sure you have that much sense.”

Yi Zhonghai, his eyes bulging like panda eyes, responded and prepared to go to the toilet to empty the chamber pot.

"Yi Zhonghai, what kind of attitude is this? Was this how everyone treated you when you were the boss?!"

Liu Haizhong, standing to the side, glanced at Yi Zhonghai with narrowed eyes. "You've only been out of the mediator's position for a short time, and your professionalism has declined along with it. Look at Xu Damao, who replaced you; he proactively proposed a film screening plan, raising our compound's profile in the neighborhood..."

Before Liu Haizhong could finish speaking, Yi Zhonghai had already walked a long way away.

"Hey, Lao Liu, look at Yi Zhonghai's attitude!!"

"I'm too lazy to bother with you guys, what other attitude can I have?" Sha Zhu chuckled and went to the toilet.

Liu and Yan then took notes along the way, and found that there were quite a few problems in the entire compound.
