After a while, the three put down their chopsticks. Li Huaide instructed his secretary to clear away the leftover food, then poured tea for the two of them, and finally took two packs of Zhonghua cigarettes from the desk behind him and placed them on the coffee table.
Wang Dabao lit a cigarette for himself, while Section Chief Hu didn't touch it at all.
Neither of them lacked good cigarettes; Wang Dabao had enough cigarettes to last a lifetime.
Section Chief Hu smokes very little. He basically doesn't smoke at home, and when he's at the factory, he only smokes a couple of cigarettes when he's with Wang Dabao.
Neither of them spoke, waiting for Li Huaide to speak.
"Here's the thing, I'm in charge of logistics now, so I'm thinking of forming a team to protect the supplies during the Chinese New Year. I'll pick a capable person from the security department to be the team leader, and I'll arrange for seven or eight people to be the team members. They'll be on duty and patrolling during the Chinese New Year."
Li Huaide picked up his teacup and chuckled.
Section Chief Hu immediately shook his head: "Director Li, this is not in accordance with the rules. Besides, don't we have security personnel patrolling? You don't need to worry about it."
Li Huaide thought he could negotiate, but unexpectedly, Section Chief Hu rejected his proposal outright.
He chuckled and said nothing more, but kept glancing at Wang Dabao.
Wang Dabao was also quite surprised that Section Chief Hu didn't give Li Huaide any face. However, judging from Li Huaide's expression, he seemed to think that this was quite normal. He immediately understood that Li was testing his attitude.
Wang Dabao was secretly pleased. Section Chief Hu had already stepped down and was now taking the blame for him. How could he possibly stab him in the back?

Before they left, Li Huaide made arrangements for them to have a meal together before the New Year.
After leaving Li Huaide's office, Section Chief Hu kept reminding Wang Dabao to be careful of Li Huaide, and Wang Dabao kept all of Section Chief Hu's words in mind.
