Chapter 4 The Courtyard War God? (der吧你shuhaige.net)

We'll compensate you?

Liu Haizhong, Yi Zhonghai, and Sha Zhu stared blankly at Wang Dabao. How could someone who assaulted another person be demanding compensation?

The old woman, who was supposed to be deaf, was actually quite sharp. She heard Wang Dabao's words clearly from behind and angrily slammed her cane on the ground.

Several of Wang Dabao's coworkers almost burst out laughing when they heard what he said.

He hit someone, and the person who was hit still has to pay him compensation. What a jerk! This kid is really jerk.

"I got hit too, but it wasn't obvious, and it wasn't that hard." Wang Dabao turned his head to the side and wiped his cheek, as if to say, "See? It's right here."

Sha Zhu immediately objected and raised his face, ready to start cursing.

"Pillar."

Yi Zhonghai suppressed his anger and pushed Sha Zhu, saying, "This is none of your business. Go and help the old lady so she doesn't fall."

Sha Zhu glared at Wang Dabao and slunk away to the deaf old woman's side.

Immediately afterwards, Yi Zhonghai put on a stern face and said, "Young comrade, there's no need for compensation. You don't look like you're in any trouble. There's really no need to make a big deal out of this."

"Yeah, it was just a few words of argument. Sha Zhu got beaten up too. Let's just let it go."

When it comes to compensation, Liu Haizhong decided to stand with Lao Yi this time.

Wang Dabao shook his head at the two of them, his tone firm: "Twenty yuan each for the four of you. After that, go and kowtow in front of my uncle's coffin. Otherwise, I'll call the police. It's that simple. You decide what to do."

"How many?"

Yi Zhonghai and Liu Haizhong were dumbfounded, their faces full of astonishment. This was an outrageous demand, like taking a piece of their flesh.

"impossible."

Liu Haizhong was the first to object. He was no longer the same as before. He flung his hand away and said, "You're trying to extort money from me. Do you know how much twenty yuan is? That's a family of four's food expenses for a month. I would accept two or three mao, but you can't ask for compensation like this."

Wang Dabao shrugged and said, "Then go to the detention center. If you get sentenced and lose your jobs, don't blame me for not giving you a chance. It's your own fault for not seizing the opportunity."

Wang Dabao's words once again struck at the weak points of the group.

Work is my lifeline; I can't afford to make any mistakes.

Liu Haizhong glared angrily at Yi Zhonghai, whose face was also ashen. "Twenty yuan is too much, five yuan at most."

"no."

Wang Dabao's face darkened. "I'll give you three minutes to consider. Once the time is up, I'll call the police, and I won't take the money back."

Seeing that there was no room for negotiation, Yi Zhonghai and Liu Haizhong snorted and returned to the deaf old woman and Sha Zhu's side.

Two minutes later, Yi Zhonghai returned. "We don't have that much money on us. We'll give it to you in full when you get to the compound."

"Don't try to fool me. The three of them stay here, you go back and get them." Wang Dabao didn't give Yi Zhonghai a chance to slip up. "Half an hour should be enough, right? If you're not back in half an hour, I'll still call the police."

"You young comrade..." Yi Zhonghai's face turned even greener. When had he ever been lectured like this by a young man?

"I'll start the timer now."

Wang Dabao interrupted Yi Zhonghai, raised his wrist to check the time, only to find his wrist was bare.

Damn, I was careless. Looks like I'll have to get a watch ticket when I have time. As for the money to buy the watch, I'll just have to pay these four people in front of me.

Yi Zhonghai glared at Wang Dabao resentfully, then walked back. After a few words, he quickly left the mourning hall alone.

Not far away, Liu Haizhong, Sha Zhu, and the deaf old woman whispered among themselves, occasionally casting murderous glances in their direction.

"Well done, nephew."

Uncle Zhang, a fellow worker, walked up to Wang Dabao, sighed, and said, "I've heard your uncle talk a lot about what happened in the compound before. Those two old men in the compound and that old lady over there have made things difficult for him. Now you've finally gotten revenge for him."

Wang Dabao's pupils contracted slightly. He had previously thought that as long as these people didn't provoke him, he wouldn't get involved in the messy affairs of the compound.

But as soon as my uncle passed away, these people set their sights on the house, and sure enough, the courtyard was filled with birds.

Now I saw the three old men in the courtyard, the deaf old lady, Sha Zhu, and the approachable Jia Zhangshi, the chaste and virtuous Qin Huairu, the grateful Xiao Banggeng, and the modest gentleman Xu Damao, but I didn't see them.

One has to admire the fact that this Red Star Courtyard is truly a place of outstanding people and abundant resources, giving birth to so many monsters and demons.

Most of the people living here aren't good people. If they weren't cunning, they probably wouldn't survive more than three episodes in this courtyard.

If an honest person moves in, these people will devour them until there are no bones left.

"Uncle Zhang, do you know anything about my uncle? Can you tell me about it?" Wang Dabao took out a Daqianmen cigarette and handed one to Uncle Zhang and the other workers who came to help.

Uncle Zhang sighed and began to ramble on and on to Wang Dabao.

This includes the house of the deaf old woman that Yi Zhonghai just mentioned.

Uncle Wang Zhen's house is in the northwest corner of the courtyard house, which is a rear building, a small two-room house.

After getting married, my uncle and aunt saved up some money. Thinking that housing would be tight after they had children, they decided to take over a room from the deaf old lady.

Of the twenty-odd households in the compound, only Wang Zhen, the deaf old lady, and He Yuzhu owned private houses; the rest were all rented.

When Wang Zhen started construction, the deaf old woman changed her mind again, saying that Wang Zhen was fooling an old woman like her. She then gathered Yi Zhonghai, Liu Haizhong, Jia Zhangshi and others to support her, forcing Wang Zhen to stop construction.

In the end, Wang Zhen had to pay an extra fifty yuan before the matter was finally settled.

"Uncle Zhang, if you had told me this earlier, those bastards wouldn't have gotten away with just twenty yuan." Wang Dabao clicked his tongue. To say that he had an uncle-nephew relationship with Wang Zhen was not really true, but he had inherited a lot of things from him, so it wouldn't be right not to help him get revenge.
