Chapter 60 The Bet with Silly Pillar

Wang Dabao didn't mind Yan Bugui showing off his fishing skills.

As long as he doesn't keep nagging in front of him, he'll be fine; otherwise, he wouldn't mind kicking the old man into Shichahai Lake.

The road wasn't far, and in no time Wang Dabao arrived at the shore of Shichahai.

Looking around, Wang Dabao was stunned. Wow, he had come out early enough, but he didn't expect there were so many people who had come earlier than him.

I left home before 6:30. Even after chatting with Yan Bugui for a while at the entrance and taking into account the time spent on the road, it was only a little past 7:00. But many of the spots around Shichahai were already taken.

Wang Dabao strolled around, looking at the surroundings, and finally chose a shady spot.

He didn't care whether he could catch fish here or not; he just wanted to avoid getting sunburned when the sun came out. His purpose was to relax, not to actually fish.

When it comes to fishing, Wang Dabao really doesn't have much experience.

The last time I went fishing was when I was a teenager in my previous life. It's been more than ten years, so I have no experience to share.

Just as Wang Dabao sat down, an old man in his sixties came up to him about seven or eight meters to his left.

These days, let alone sixty years old, even forty years old, if they are always hungry and have to work hard, they look like old men.

Of course, exceptions exist for individuals like Sha Zhu, who have a unique appearance!

Watching the old man lay out his fishing gear—fishing rods, floats, bait, landing nets, and other items—Wang Dabao was dumbfounded. This was professionalism!

Looking at myself, I'm barely an amateur.

Wait a minute, Wang Dabao glanced at the old man again.

I watched as the old man grabbed a handful of something, then flung it into the water with a splash.

"Damn it!" Wang Dabao thought to himself. He had no bait, and the system hadn't given him any either!

Oh well, it's just for fun anyway. It doesn't matter whether we have that thing or not. In short, it's normal not to catch any fish, and if we do, it's just luck. The chosen one isn't afraid of not having luck!

At worst, just throw the bait as groundbait!

After figuring it out, Wang Dabao started tying fishing lines, hooks, and floats to his fishing rod.

Wang Dabao had just started fishing when he saw someone waving at him from afar.

A group of three walked over, led by Yan Bugui, followed by Liu Haizhong and Sha Zhu with his arm in a sleeve.

Wang Dabao wasn't surprised that Sha Zhu and Yan Bugui came together; what was surprising was when Yan Bugui started hanging out with Liu Haizhong. Was fishing really that powerful?!

"Hey, Da Bao, you got a great spot! Even though it's not hot now, the sun will definitely be out in less than twenty minutes."

Yan Bugui chuckled and leaned closer to Wang Dabao, lowering his voice, "This weekend, Liu Haizhong came to my house to visit Jie Kuang. He heard that I was coming to Shichahai to fish with you, so he came along. When he went out, he ran into Sha Zhu, who was wandering around, so he came along too."

Yan Bugui explained to Wang Dabao.

"Don't worry, Jie Kuang won't be able to see any problems."

Wang Dabao nodded.

Liu Haizhong had been quite uneasy these past few days. He was genuinely afraid that Yan Jiekuang might have some kind of mental problem, and that Yan Bugui might fight him to the death.

After considering it for two days, I took advantage of the weekend and went to Yan Bugui's house early this morning.

He was prepared to be kicked out, but found that Yan Bugui's attitude was acceptable. Although he had a cold face, he still poured him a cup of tea, but there was too little tea in it.

But no matter what, being able to pour him tea is itself a gesture of goodwill.

Liu Haizhong subtly inquired about Yan Jiekuang's condition, and only felt relieved when he heard Yan Bugui say that the condition had stabilized.

Yan Bugui took out a stack of examination forms from the inner room. Liu Haizhong looked at them and saw that they cost more than twenty yuan. Yan Bugui said that he would have to do eight or nine more of these examinations.

At that moment, Liu Haizhong suddenly stopped caring about the two hundred yuan he had spent.

Later, when he heard that Yan Bugui was coming to Shichahai to fish with Wang Dabao, he quickly went home to get his fishing gear and came along to try his luck.

Although Liu Haizhong and Wang Dabao had a past conflict, and the latter had even tried to extort money from him, because of yesterday's fraudulent donation incident, he felt like he had gotten ten yuan for free, and he didn't dislike Wang Dabao as much anymore.

"Da Bao, I think this place is pretty good. If you don't mind, let's go fishing together."

Yan Bugui chuckled and pulled out a pack of cigarettes that cost two mao (0.2 yuan).

Wang Dabao waved his hand, "I don't mind, I'm just fishing for fun, you guys do as you please."

Seeing Yan Bugui and Liu Haizhong set out their fishing gear, Wang Dabao was dumbfounded again. So his fishing gear was the only one that was rudimentary. He should have gone to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy a landing net to make a good impression.

For the next half hour, Yan Bugui chattered incessantly in Wang Dabao's ear like a fly.

"Da Bao, did you mix this bait yourself? This won't do, let me tell you..."

"Dabao, your swing technique is wrong. When I swing, you should learn from it carefully."

“Da Bao, let me tell you, when you catch a big fish, you have to get away. Sigh, never mind, why am I telling you this? There are no big fish in Shichahai anymore. They were all caught ten years ago.”

Wang Dabao put down the pole, turned to stare at Yan Bugui, and said, "Old Yan, if you keep babbling and trying to act tough with me, believe me, I'll kick you off right now!"

"Look at you, I meant well."

After muttering something, Yan Bugui immediately quieted down and focused on his float.

Yan Bugui was half a meter to Wang Dabao's right, while Liu Haizhong was one meter to Yan Bugui's right. Sha Zhu sat under the shade of a tree, looking around and occasionally chuckling.

Before long, Liu Haizhong made a move, hooking up a small fish.
