"System, check in."
Wang Dabao put the iron box away and walked out of the wooden house.
Today is the fourth day of check-in. It's like opening a blind box, which he's really looking forward to.
"Ding, the host is rewarded with a bionic robot that can help manage all affairs on the island and will be absolutely loyal and obedient to the host."
"Please sign for the package, host. The robot has gone to feed the pigs for you."
What is that?
Managing all the affairs of the island is just like feeding pigs?
But I was clearly planning to roast a suckling pig, so why am I feeding a pig with a balut (fertilized duck egg)?
Wang Dabao walked quickly to the farm and saw an uncle adding feed to the pig trough from afar.
As Wang Dabao approached, the middle-aged man put down his work and bowed to him. "Greetings, Master. I am your island steward. From now on, I will be in charge of all affairs on the island. May I ask what your orders are?"
Wang Dabao stared blankly at the bionic robot for nearly two minutes, touching and looking at it. Apart from its slightly mechanical movements, it was almost indistinguishable from a real person.
Can you...cook?
Wang Dabao, with a "let's give it a try" attitude, frowned and asked.
The robot lowered its head and pondered, seemingly processing its master's question. Two seconds later, the robot looked up and asked, "What kind of cuisine would you like, master?"
Holy crap!
This time, Wang Dabao was really surprised, and he inexplicably felt that the robot was showing off to him.
He waved his hand, "No need for that. Just make me a braised fish tonight."
"Master, please don't misunderstand. I only know how to cook some simple home-style dishes. When would you like to have dinner?"
"Six o'clock, I guess."
You only know how to cook home-style dishes, why are you asking me about cuisine? You're even better at pretending than I am.
"Yes, Master, dinner will be ready at six o'clock sharp."
After dismissing the housekeeper, Wang Dabao watched the piglets strutting around, showing off their feed, and fell into deep thought.
If the butler is trained to be more like a normal human being, would it be possible to take him out?
A moment later, Wang Dabao shivered and decisively abandoned the idea.
We left the island and returned to the courtyard house.
It was nearly 3 p.m.
Wang Dabao found a tattered bed sheet and began packing up his uncle's belongings, including bedding, water cups, and everything else he no longer needed, intending to sell them to the scheming Yan Bugui.
After searching high and low, I ended up with two large bags full.
After locking the door, carrying one bag on his back and another in his hand, Wang Dabao hurried towards the front yard.
From afar, one could see Yan Bugui and his wife Yang Ruihua waiting at the door.
When Yan Bugui saw that Wang Dabao had packed so many things, he immediately ran over and took a bag from him.
Wang Dabao, feigning distress with a bitter face, handed over the package. "Third Uncle, see how much you can contribute. If not, I'll burn it in front of my uncle's grave. Otherwise, I'm afraid my uncle will come to me in a dream and scold me for being unfilial."
"You child, you're saying such frightening things."
Yan Bugui impatiently opened the package in his hand and immediately exclaimed, "There's still so much soap left! It's such a waste to burn it. Besides, this stuff won't even melt."
The three women also came over, opened the package that Wang Dabao had put down, and rummaged through it. After a while, they took out a piece of clothing and said in surprise, "This clothing is still quite new. It's a real pity to burn it."
"They were all bought with my uncle's hard-earned money."
Wang Dabao sighed.
“Da Bao, you can call me Third Aunt from now on. Old Yan has told me everything about you. We’ll be living in the same courtyard from now on, so if you need anything, just ask your Third Uncle.”
The third aunt had a kind smile on her face. "Your third uncle suggested that you sell your things to us, and then you could use the money to buy paper money for Old Wang. I thought it was a good idea, and you agreed with it at the time, didn't you?"
"Well then, these things are going to be burned anyway. Auntie will take charge and give you three yuan to sell them to us."
Wang Dabao almost burst out laughing.
You've managed to get a bargain from me, and now you're acting like you're in charge, putting on a show? Do you two have any sense of propriety?
“It’s not really about the money. I’m suddenly a little scared. I’m afraid that if I sell my uncle’s things, he’ll crawl out of his grave and come looking for me.” As he spoke, Wang Dabao began packing his bags.
When Yang Ruihua, the third aunt, saw Wang Dabao's posture, she immediately reached out and nudged Yan Bugui.
"Da Bao, don't listen to your third aunt, your third uncle will give you two more pieces."
Yan Bugui stared intently at the two large packages with his small eyes. Seeing that Wang Dabao showed no sign of stopping, he hurriedly said again, "We really can't have any more. Any more and it won't be worth the money."
"Hey, if I wasn't afraid my uncle would come to me in a dream and scold me, I would have given you all these things."
Wang Dabao packed the two packages, picked them up, and was about to leave. "You two go ahead with your work. I'll burn the things for my uncle while it's still light. I'm a coward, and I don't dare go to the cemetery after dark."
After saying that, Wang Dabao didn't hesitate at all. He carried the two big bags and walked towards the door.
"Oh dear, why are you so reckless?"
Seeing that Wang Dabao was really about to leave, Yan Bugui became anxious and grabbed Wang Dabao's arm. "Dabao, how about you name a price to prevent your uncle from appearing in your dreams?"
Wang Dabao looked troubled. After hesitating for a moment, he said solemnly, "Master Yan, you are the only person I know in this compound. I won't take advantage of you. Twenty yuan and five mao."
"But you don't need to give me the change, it's twenty yuan, the fifty cents is for your drinks at noon."
"Twenty yuan?"
The price quoted by Wang Dabao shocked the three aunties, who immediately turned their attention to the three uncles.
Yan Bugui's attention was still on the money for the drinks that Wang Dabao had mentioned at the end.
After thinking about it for a couple of seconds, I realized I didn't seem to have drunk anything at noon, so where did the money for the drinks come from?
