Chapter 199 Factory Director's Inspection

Upon hearing that Huang Xian had lost his temper at the machine repair shop, Xu Damao immediately took two deputy factory directors and Li Tong there to learn from their "outdated experience."

Zhou Wenhai, the factory director, was previously the workshop director and was the first factory director appointed from the beginning. However, he was outmaneuvered by the leader's secretary, who then indulged in a lavish feast. After that, Zhou Wenhai was summoned by Yang Zhenhua to clean up the mess.

To be honest, Zhou Wenhai had it really tough, even Xu Damao felt sorry for him. The approval for building the factory came at the same time as the auto repair shop, but because of the secretary's interference, it took more than a year for the factory to even start construction. And as soon as it was finished, Huang Xian started causing trouble.

"Director Xu, this is too much. It's one thing to come and watch the show by yourself, but to bring so many people with you is quite another."

Zhou Wenhai is not yet 50 years old, but he looks like a man in his 60s, which shows that he has been really annoyed lately. When he saw Xu Damao smilingly leading several people in, he cursed inwardly.

Although Xu Damao and Zhou Wenhai had different backers, their relationships were still decent, and their subordinates interacted with each other. The other two established their factories at the same time, but their auto repair shops were already operational and thriving. When Zhou Wenhai first took office, he visited the auto repair shops many times to learn from their experience.

"Old Zhou, I heard that Director Huang was very dissatisfied after inspecting your place, so I came here to learn from your outdated experience."

Let's see if we have anything in common, so my brother doesn't get scolded for the same thing.

Xu Damao spoke frankly, saying it with a smile.

“You’re a real scoundrel. Sigh, we’re just unlucky that he came to my place first. He didn’t know any precedent to follow,” Zhou Wenhai said.

“What are you afraid of? With Secretary Yang backing you up, no one can get you down,” Xu Damao said.

“It’s not that I’m scared, it’s just that I feel really stifled. Besides, brother, sometimes I really don’t want to be this factory manager. Look at my head, I don’t have a single black hair. It’s all from all this stress lately,” Zhou Wenhai said.

Xu Damao glanced at his increasingly thinning hair. Well, it's alright, there's still a little bit left. If he kept going like this, let alone gray hair, it would be difficult to even keep his hair.

While the two chatted, several deputy factory directors went out to inquire about Huang Xian's research with the reception staff of the machine repair shop.

Huang Xian visited the auto repair shop three days after his initial investigation of the machine repair shop.

Early in the morning, Xu Damao, along with his team members and middle-level managers, stood at the factory gate to wait. Because the auto repair shop had few employees and leaders, Xu Damao even asked the deputy heads of departments to stand at the gate as well. The leaders, along with some administrative staff and security personnel, crowded together at the gate.

There was no way around it; it was said that the machine repair shop didn't welcome many people, and Huang Xian said that "everyone seemed to be busy with work, but their work efficiency was low." Xu Damao dared not make the same mistake, otherwise all this experience would be wasted.

"They're here, everyone line up." Xu Damao directed as the car approached from a distance.

When the car stopped nearby, Xu Damao immediately went up to open the door for him in a very obsequious manner.

"Director Huang, welcome to the auto repair shop for inspection and guidance. All of us workers were eagerly anticipating your visit and insisted on greeting you at the factory gate. Unfortunately, there are too many people, so we can only send a few representatives," Xu Damao said with a fawning smile.

As soon as Huang Xian got out of the car, he saw two rows of employees standing straight and felt very comfortable. That's more like what a research trip should look like.

"Comrade Da Mao, I have to criticize you. It's just a simple survey. Why did you bring so many comrades over? Isn't this delaying production?"

"Alright, quickly send the comrade back first, just leave a few deputy factory directors here."

Huang Xian spoke very kindly. Although it was criticism, his tone was entirely one of praise.

"Factory manager, everyone came here voluntarily. Why don't you say a few words and give us some guidance on our work?"

Let's give a warm round of applause to Director Huang as he speaks to us!

After Xu Damao finished speaking, he took the lead in clapping, and the others immediately followed suit, creating a lively atmosphere.

"Comrades are so enthusiastic. Well then, I'll just say a few words."

This is my first time visiting a car repair shop. Although I don't know the specific capabilities of your shop, judging from the spirit of the staff, I can tell it must be a decent place.

Okay, that's all I have to say.

Huang Xian was supposed to say just a few words, but he talked on and on for ten minutes at the gate. Xu Damao was truly impressed; those ten minutes were entirely off-script, his logic was clear, and he managed to connect the conversation to the factory in some way, so it couldn't be called rambling.

After the speech, the first stop was the conference room, where Xu Damao, representing the auto repair shop, gave a work report. Following the report was a brief exchange meeting; finally, Huang Xian went into the workshop to talk with the frontline workers.

Perhaps because he was in a good mood today, Huang Xian kept smiling throughout the rest of the process, speaking to everyone in a kind and friendly manner, as if he were a completely different person who had gone to the machine repair shop a few days ago.

Especially when he arrived at the workshop, Huang Xian even crawled under the car to experience firsthand the hard work of a car repairman, completely disregarding the mud and oil stains on the ground.

"To be honest, you won't know the hardships of grassroots workers until you crawl under the truck. As factory leaders, we must go deep into the grassroots, not be aloof, and always put the interests of our workers first."

In the workshop, Huang Xian talked a lot, and then shook hands with each of the workshop workers. After shaking hands, his hands were covered in machine oil.

Looking at Huang Xian beside him, Xu Damao sighed that he was still far behind.

"Da Mao, after listening to your report and visiting your auto repair shop today, I'm quite satisfied. Here's what we'll do: write a summary in the next few days and submit it to me. I'll try to get it submitted to higher authorities and strive to get you more recognition," Huang Xian said.

"Thank you so much, Director Huang. If that's really the case, our workers will be even more enthusiastic," Xu Damao echoed.

Time flies, and the survey is about to end.

"Director Huang, the lunch arrangements are complete. Would you please have lunch with us?" Xu Damao invited.

Huang Xian glanced at his watch; it would be lunchtime in a little while.

"No, I can't go to your factory and add to your burden. I still need to go back for lunch and eat in the canteen," Huang Xian declined.

"Factory manager, it's no trouble at all. It doesn't matter where we eat. We'll just have a simple meal in the canteen," Xu Damao said.

"Okay, then let's not make any special arrangements. Let's have fewer people at lunchtime." Huang Xian thought for a moment and agreed.

The logistics and office staff really went to great lengths to prepare lunch. It couldn't be too extravagant, nor could it be unpalatable; it was a tricky balance to strike. However, judging from Huang Xian's expression while eating, he seemed quite satisfied in the end.
