Chapter 213 Director Qiao's Incognito Visit

Qiao Erbao's idea was originally impromptu; he wanted to cause trouble for Xu Damao. He had been lying low for so long, looked down on by everyone. Now that he was being valued by Huang Xian, he wanted to see how Xu Damao, who had taken away his car, would react.

But I was turned away before I even entered the factory area. I can't describe how upset I felt; it was like wearing fine clothes in the dark – what a waste.

"Young man, I work at the steel rolling mill. You can just talk to your supervisor."

No matter how uncomfortable he was, Qiao Erbao knew that troublemakers were hard to deal with, so he had no choice but to relax and ask to be informed.

"You wait here." The young man from the security department said this and went to the duty room. A little while later, another person came out and went to the office to report.

Xu Damao was looking at documents in his office when he saw Li Tong enter with security personnel. After Li Tong explained the situation, he knew that Qiao Erbao had come to cause trouble.

“Okay, Xiao Wang, when you get back, tell him we have another meeting and to ask him to wait. Come back in half an hour and give him a report,” Xu Damao said.

Xiao Wang, the security officer, hadn't expected Director Xu to pull such a stunt—claiming a meeting was being held even though none had actually taken place. However, a local official has more power than a distant one, and Xiao Wang, knowing the difference between his subordinates, immediately obeyed.

"Li Tong, call the deputy factory director to my office for a meeting," Xu Damao instructed.

"A meeting? What kind of meeting?" Li Tong had a headache.

“You deputy leaders have been in charge of the work for about the same time now. I think we can promote you to full positions, and leave some positions for the next generation of colleagues.”

"Really? Does that mean I'll really be the office director from now on, at the deputy section chief level? Hehe, then I'll be one level higher than Minzhi." Li Tong chuckled mischievously.

When the auto repair shop was first established, many people like Li Tong were promoted directly from ordinary workers to deputy section chiefs (equivalent to section chiefs) to take charge of the work. Now, more than a year later, they meet the conditions for being promoted to permanent positions.

In addition, if someone like Li Tong, who is in charge of the work as the deputy director of the office, is promoted to director, a deputy director position will be created, which will give other people a chance.

Meetings involving personnel are often the ones leaders are most willing to attend, because they relate to the future of many people. Although this meeting in Xu Damao's office wasn't very formal, and could only be considered a preliminary communication, it still pleased the two deputy factory directors.

After more than a year since the auto repair shop was established, personnel changes were finally underway. As the deputy director in charge, he also had his own people under him, and naturally hoped to promote his own people to increase his influence.

"Does anyone have any objections to the promotion of deputy heads like Li Tong who were in charge of the work to full positions?" Xu Damao asked.

"No," Zuo Chang'an and Gao Yan said in unison.

"Alright, we'll decide on that at the next meeting. Also, the deputy positions will be announced then, so you can all give your opinions from your respective departments. If there aren't any major issues, we can address them together at the next meeting."

Since there are positions available, we should provide opportunities for our comrades to advance; we can't always hide their opportunities.

Xu Damao's delegation of authority to the two deputy factory directors was an incentive for their long-term cooperation. During this period, both Gao Yan and Zuo Chang'an had been law-abiding and, at least outwardly, diligently completed their tasks.

If you want a horse to run, you have to feed it. Xu Damao wasn't that concerned about the selection of the deputy positions. The main reason was that he had chosen all the heads of the departments himself, giving him absolute control over the factory.

But Zuo Chang'an and Gao Yan are different. Their cooperation over this period of time has finally earned Xu Damao's approval, and they almost felt like they could cry. Especially Zuo Chang'an, who was initially suppressed by Xu Damao. He didn't even have a voice in the factory, and his department head dared to give him a hard time.

If you have several deputy positions to appoint and promote your own people, then your authority in the factory will be established immediately.

Once the matter was settled, the atmosphere in the office became very cheerful, and even Zuo Chang'an and Gao Yan, who had never gotten along well, were able to joke with each other.

"Factory Director, the security team is here. They say there's someone outside claiming to be Director Qiao of the steel rolling mill at the door." Li Tong knocked and came in.

"Director Qiao? That can't be. Normally, when leaders inspect our area, the office over there would notify us in advance, but no one notified me. Director Gao, Director Zuo, did you receive any notification?" Xu Damao looked at the two deputy directors with a seemingly puzzled expression.

Both of them shook their heads. Li Tong, however, was deeply impressed by Xu Damao; his acting skills were comparable to those of movie stars.

"Alright, you two factory managers, along with the office staff, come with me to the main gate. It would be quite awkward if no one greeted the leaders when they came," Xu Damao instructed.

Xu Damao always attached great importance to the leaders' inspections, wanting everyone to see the prestige of our Factory Director Qiao. The group of over a dozen people then marched in a grand procession towards the main gate.

Meanwhile, Qiao Erbao, who had been full of vigor, was now covered in sweat and looked exhausted as he squatted in the shade by the gate.

The security personnel went in to look for someone, and then immediately came out saying that the leaders were in a meeting and that they should continue to wait outside.

The driver and he tried to reason with the security department, but it was like trying to reason with a scholar when you encounter a soldier; the security officer simply refused to let them in.

If they won't let me in, then I'll just leave. Having failed to impress anyone today, Qiao Erbao decided to head home.

“You can’t leave. You have to wait for our leader to come out. Otherwise, you’re impersonating leaders and you’ll be arrested.” The security personnel were very vigilant.

"No, if you won't let us in, why won't you let us leave? I'm leaving today," the driver said firmly.

"Click," the security officer cocked his rifle, his eyes fixed on the two men. It seemed he would fire the moment they left.

"Young comrade, be careful of accidental discharge. We really are leaders from the steel rolling mill. We're not leaving, we're not leaving, we'll wait here." Qiao Erbao hadn't expected to run into such a stubborn guy, so he had no choice but to back down.

The two were forced to remain at the entrance. The sun was blazing outside, and the car had no air conditioning; they were drenched in sweat. They wanted to go into the guard room to rest, but the young officer pointed a gun at them and refused.

When Xu Damao arrived at the gate with more than a dozen people, he only saw one car parked outside.

"Where is he?" Xu Damao asked.

"Reporting to the factory manager, the person is squatting outside."

After Xu Damao led everyone out, he only saw Qiao Erbao and the driver squatting on the ground against the wall, looking at Xu Damao with resentment.
