Chapter 223 The Three Idiots' Renovation

On Saturday, Sha Zhu contacted the General Office of the Armed Forces Department and said that someone would come to help Xu Damao renovate his office over the weekend, which surprised Lei Min of the General Office.

"Hey, you silly Zhu, how about we send someone to help you? We can't have you guys doing the work while we rest at home," Lei Min said, a little embarrassed.

"That's alright. They're only doing this because they're giving me face. Anyway, I'm not doing it myself. You don't need anyone to come; just give us the key to Xu Damao's office."

"Don't worry, the people I hired are all clean-cut and won't do anything illegal."

Sha Zhu couldn't let the armed forces personnel stay here. Otherwise, people would know it was the canteen staff who did it, and he wouldn't be able to show off anymore.

Fortunately, Xu Damao's room was empty, with nothing in it. Xu Damao happily handed the key to Sha Zhu.

"Shazhu, you're really something now. Your network of connections spans the entire factory. I'm sure I'll need your help with a lot of things in the future," Xu Damao said, patting Shazhu on the shoulder and flattering him.

“I told you long ago, being fat first doesn’t make you fat. Don’t be fooled by your early promotion; in the end, you’re still useless. For the sake of us being from the same compound, if you have any problems in the future, just tell your brother, and he’ll take care of it.”

Being praised by Xu Damao made Sha Zhu truly happy, feeling as if he had drunk fine wine. After being belittled by Xu Damao for so many years, this was the first time he had received affirmation from the other party.

Soon, the weekend arrived, and Sha Zhu rushed to the cafeteria from home early. It was 8 o'clock, but the cafeteria was empty; neither Fatty nor Ma Hua had come.

After waiting and waiting, the MCA finally arrived late.

"Why are you only arriving now? Didn't we tell you to come during your normal working hours?" Sha Zhu cursed angrily.

"Master, I overslept." Ma Hua said embarrassedly.

"Where are the others?" Sha Zhu really wanted to beat this kid up, but the others hadn't come, and he was worried that if he beat him up, no one would be able to do anything.

"I don't know, nobody told me. Maybe they all slept in, just like me," Ma Hua said cautiously.

It wasn't until ten o'clock that Fatty finally sauntered over. Being clever, Fatty immediately offered an explanation upon seeing Sha Zhu's murderous glare.

“Master, I actually woke up a long time ago, but in order to urge the others to come, I kept calling out to them, and that’s how I got here,” the fat man said.

"What about the others?" Sha Zhu asked gently.

"Well, some of the others said they had family matters to attend to, and some said they were sick. They all asked me to ask you for leave."

"Master, there aren't enough people today, so we'll skip it. We'll talk to the maintenance department again on Monday and ask them to do it."

The fat guy actually went to a colleague's house this morning to ask them to call in sick for him. But since they all asked him to call in sick first, he had to come by himself. If someone had been there to call in sick for him, he definitely wouldn't have been able to come today because of diarrhea.

Knowing that only the three of them had come today, Sha Zhu's face turned as black as soot. At this moment, Sha Zhu was preparing to give everyone in the cafeteria a good talking-to on Monday. But for now, he could only make do for the time being.

"What are you waiting for? You always ask others for everything. No wonder you can't cook a single dish. Come on, you guys carry your gear, let's go to the Armed Forces Department office." Sha Zhu led the way.

Seeing their master leave first, Ma Hua and the fat man could only follow behind, carrying the tools and materials. Sigh, if it weren't for wanting to learn a trick or two, who would do something so foolish with this idiot?

All morning, Sha Zhu sat on a stool, supervising Ma Hua and Fatty as they worked. Even if Fatty wanted to slack off, he had no chance, which exhausted him.

However, we have too few people, and there has been little progress this morning. At this rate, we won't be able to finish today.

"Can you guys hurry up? At this rate, you won't finish even in a month," Sha Zhu said anxiously.

“Master, it’s not that we’re not trying. We’ve never done this kind of work before, so it’s normal that we’re slow.”

Master, I see you're directing very well. Have you done this before? Why don't you come and help us?

The fat man was so exhausted that he had no choice but to bite the bullet and ask Sha Zhu to help him. At least if Sha Zhu started working, there would be no time to supervise him, and he could slack off a bit.

"Are you the master or am I the master? You can't even do this little bit of work."

Sha Zhu said he wouldn't do it, but he was quick on the uptake, finding himself a tool and joining the trio. It wasn't that he wanted to do anything, but these two were hopeless at everything except eating. If they didn't do a good job this afternoon, Xu Damao might laugh at them tomorrow.

It has to be said, Sha Zhu has been an orphan since childhood, and he does everything himself. He's quite skilled at renovations, and his work is really impressive. With Sha Zhu joining in, the three of them quickly got going.

To meet the deadline, Sha Zhu didn't even let Ma Hua go to lunch. He just had Ma Hua grab a few cold steamed buns from the canteen and eat them with hot water.

Around 4 PM, the walls and windows of the room were finally mostly finished. Looking at the newly renovated room, Sha Zhu felt a great sense of accomplishment. It would have been even better if he hadn't been so tired and hungry.

"Master, what should we do with this door? Why don't we just find some newspapers and cover it up?" Sha Zhu, who was admiring his victory, was interrupted by the fat man.

Sha Zhu glanced at the door and was utterly speechless. It was completely dilapidated and needed to be replaced. But the maintenance office hadn't provided a new door; he couldn't just conjure one up out of thin air.

He initially thought of just grabbing some newspaper and covering it up as the fat man suggested, but then he looked at how well he had painted the room and felt it was a bit of a letdown. Besides, it's all about appearances; if the door was this shabby, how could Sha Zhu boast about his work to others?

"Let's find a way to come through another door. Do we have any in our cafeteria?" Sha Zhu decided to do one thing well.

“Master, don’t you know the cafeteria? The kitchen has a door, but it’s full of grease and smoke, even worse than this. The door to your little office is a different size, but the others are the same.” Ma Hua explained to his master that he wanted to find the door in the cafeteria.

“Master, this is the standard size for the administration building; it’s only available here,” the fat man added.

"Administration building, administration building, let's go to the cafeteria director Lao Bao's place and replace it. Come on, let's replace this door and install it at Lao Bao's place." Sha Zhu took the lead.
