Chapter 273 Finding People

When Sha Zhu happily returned home and found that Qin Jingru was not home, he assumed that she was playing at Qin Huairu's house, so he started cooking.

Sha Zhu put his all into this meal; it was far superior to the mediocre cooking he usually did in the cafeteria. He figured that once Qin Jingru finished this meal, she was definitely in for a world of hurt.

"Qin Jingru, are you hungry? The food is ready, come over quickly. Hey, Qin Huairu, where's your sister?" Sha Zhu talked for a long time, but didn't see Qin Jingru.

"Shazhu, although I'm willing to introduce my sister to you, aren't you changing your mind too quickly? Just a few days ago we were sleeping in the same bed, and now you're acting like nothing happened." Qin Huairu was very uncomfortable with Shazhu's indifferent attitude.

"Stop talking nonsense, where did Qin Jingru go?" Sha Zhu had no time to chat with Qin Huairu about these things.

"have no idea."

"have no idea?"

"I really don't know. Go look outside yourself, maybe try the restroom outside."

Qin Huairu didn't dare tell anyone that her younger sister had gone out to play with someone else, so she could only give a casual answer, hoping that Qin Jingru would come back soon after playing for a while.

After returning home, Sha Zhu waited for a while but didn't see anyone, so he went to the public restroom to look for them. He waited outside the restroom for a while but no one came out, and after calling out a few times without any response, Sha Zhu decided to rush in.

"What are you doing, Sha Zhu? This is the women's restroom!" A neighbor recognized Sha Zhu and stopped him when he saw Sha Zhu trying to enter the restroom.

"Could you check if Qin Jingru is inside? I've been looking for her for ages and haven't found her." Sha Zhu asked someone to go in and look for her since he recognized her.

"Who is Qin Jingru?" the neighbor asked, bewildered.

"Oh dear, I can't explain it to you. Just go in and see if there's a young girl there." Sha Zhu pushed and pulled the old lady inside.

After a while, the older woman came out.

"Is anyone there?" Sha Zhu asked.

"Nobody. No young girls, but there used to be one, that's the old lady." The old lady even had the leisure to joke.

"If no one's there, why haven't you come out for so long? Are you crazy?" Sha Zhu cursed.

"Shazhu, are you out of your mind? I come to the toilet to use the toilet, is there anything wrong with me going in, using the toilet, and then coming out? What's wrong with you?"

"Unlike you, standing outside the women's restroom, you clearly have ill intentions," the older woman said matter-of-factly.

Sha Zhu was truly defeated by the old lady's logic. He wanted to argue with her, but worried about Qin Jingru's safety, so he had to give up. After wandering around the alleys surrounding the courtyard house, he heard some bad news.

A neighbor said they saw a fair-skinned girl with two braids going out with Yan Jiefang. The two were chatting and laughing, and didn't seem like strangers.

"Go to hell!"

It seems Yan Jiefang is deliberately trying to steal Ran Qiuye's wife from Sha Zhu. He's done it once, and now he's done it again. Sha Zhu, furious, stormed into Yan's house.

Having learned from his previous experience of being caught, this time he didn't kick down the door, but instead knocked on the windows. Sha Zhu didn't just knock on one window; he knocked down all the windows in Yan Fugui's house.

Yan Fugui, who was reading at home, never expected that even though he was keeping a low profile, someone would still come knocking on his window. Thinking of the scenes of his former colleagues being denounced in the streets, Yan Fugui felt weak all over and couldn't take a step.

"Honey, you...you go open the door quickly, or they'll smash our front door down." Yan Fugui could only instruct his wife to open the door.

Although the third aunt was also scared, she was used to obeying men, so she had no choice but to bite the bullet and open the door. Trembling, she opened the door, only to find Sha Zhu smashing the window with a stick. Then the third aunt uttered a classic Chinese curse: "I'll f*** your ancestors!"

Yan Fugui waited at home for a long time but no one came in. Instead, he heard his wife cursing outside. Fearing that his wife would get into a fight with someone, he had no choice but to move outside while holding onto the wall.

"Shazhu, are you out of your mind? Smashing my window in broad daylight!" Seeing that it was Shazhu outside, Yan Fugui's weak legs finally regained their strength, and his cursing could be heard for miles.

"I'm sick, but I think your whole family is sick. I'm asking you, is there some kind of tradition in your family where you're used to stealing other people's wives? I finally found one I liked, and your Yan Jiefang interfered with her. You like one and then you interfere? If you're so capable, go find someone outside yourself!" Sha Zhu cursed angrily.

"What do you mean? Why would I steal your wife?" Yan Fugui asked, puzzled.

Sha Zhu then recounted the whole story, and then demanded an explanation from Yan Fugui. Old Yan hadn't expected his son to actually compete with Sha Zhu for something, but a thought flashed through his mind and he decided this was a worthwhile endeavor.

"Silly Zhu, what you're saying isn't quite right. This is a new society, not the old one with arranged marriages. We value free love now."

The young woman came to the compound just to arrange a blind date with you; she doesn't necessarily want to marry you. Since she's willing to leave with you after liberation, it means she doesn't like you, so don't bother her.

"If all else fails, when Liberation gets married, you can come over for a drink and I won't charge you any gifts," Yan Fugui calculated.

"Old Yan, you're really good at scheming. I'm putting this out there today: if you don't resolve this matter, then your husband Jiefang can forget about getting married. I may not be able to handle other things, but anyone can sabotage things."

"Not only will I ruin Yan Jiefang's marriage, but I'll also ruin your youngest son's and daughter's marriages. I might as well stay a bachelor for life, but I'll make sure your family stays with me," Sha Zhu said shamelessly.

Yan Fugui noticed that Sha Zhu seemed to have become much smarter. He would sabotage things when he couldn't get anything done, which was unbearable. He still had three unmarried children at home, and it would be terrible if they all became troublesome.

So he could only comfort Sha Zhu.

“Zhu Zi, I will definitely give you an explanation for this matter, but you must not do anything reckless. Besides, you've been married before, so don't hold a grudge against their children, right?” Yan Fugui said.

"Kids, kids keep trying to steal my wife away from me," Sha Zhu said disdainfully.

“Oh right, now that you mention this, I just remembered. Didn’t you like Teacher Ran before? Would you like me to introduce you to her again?” Yan Fugui suddenly said.

"Old Yan, you're really that kind-hearted? If Teacher Ran were willing, why don't you add Jiefang to your list?" Sha Zhu asked.

"Hehe, isn't it because your family has a good social class and you're not afraid of trouble? Now, because Teacher Ran is an overseas Chinese, her social class has some issues, so she sometimes gets criticized and denounced. Marrying her is like protecting her. You get a wife, she improves her status, it's a win-win situation for both of you!"

Yan Fugui was trying to fool Sha Zhu. He wasn't lying; if he weren't a teacher himself, he would have genuinely wanted to introduce the girl to Yan Jiefang. The girl was beautiful, knowledgeable, and cultured—more than a match for Yan Jiefang.

Introducing him to Sha Zhu would be a waste, what a pity in this world.
