After hearing their explanation, Xu Damao knew the key to the matter was to find someone at the branch office to inquire about the situation.
If this were in Tongzhou, Xu Damao could easily contact the branch office there with a phone call, but here, his words wouldn't carry much weight. Should he contact Li Xuewu?

"Section Chief Tong is on duty today. You're looking for him? He's resting in his dormitory over there. We helped the branch office with an operation last night, and many of the guys are still sleeping." Wu Tiezhu's answer surprised Xu Damao.
"Did you guys take down that black market last night?" Xu Damao asked quickly.
"Yes, what's wrong? Oh, Section Chief Xu, is that why you came today? Yesterday, Captain Niu, the new captain of the branch's action team, arrived. He and our Section Chief Tong are comrades-in-arms, so he called us over to help as well."
Wu Tiezhu's answer relieved Xu Damao; it seemed Yan Fugui could be released this time.

One of the teachers in our compound went shopping last night and hasn’t been released yet, so he asked someone to ask me to go and inquire. I came here because I was thinking about your major. Xu Damao found Tong Shuai and explained the situation, and Tong Shuai immediately agreed.

Tong Shuai said to Xu Damao with a smile. When he described Yan Fugui's situation at the time, Xu Damao also laughed.
