Chapter 94 The Car Broke Down

Since Master Bao couldn't get the car, he had no choice but to go to Director Qiao's office to report the situation.

"Director Qiao, there's a problem with the car today; it's being repaired in the auto repair shop, so I can't deliver it to you today," Master Bao said cautiously.

He knew very well that Director Qiao was a man who cared a lot about his image. The motorized support vehicle had now become his personal support vehicle, and he would drive home every day during the busiest time of day, honking his horn from time to time to show his presence.

The car broke down this time, and Director Qiao has no car to ride in. He doesn't know what to do now.

"It's broken? When can it be fixed?" Old Qiao was quite unhappy. Was he, such a high-ranking leader, expected to walk to work?

"It should be soon. They said there was a problem with the tires and brakes. For safety reasons, the repair team said they need to fix them," said Master Bao.

"Then tell the auto repair team to hurry up and get it fixed before the end of tomorrow's workday. Also, tell Old Yang to pick me up after he takes the factory manager home, and then pick me up again tomorrow morning," Factory Manager Qiao instructed.

But to Master Bao, it was an insurmountable problem. Old Yang drove the factory director every day, practically his personal driver. Why would he want to pick up Director Qiao again? If he went to plead with him, Old Yang could easily make up some excuse to get rid of him.

But if I don't go, Director Qiao is in a bad mood right now, and he might take his anger out on me. I was hoping to take advantage of Director Qiao's prestige to show off a bit more.

Finally, having no other choice, Mr. Bao persuaded Mr. Yang by paying the price of two packs of cigarettes.

After everything was settled, Master Bao remembered that Huang Shu had mentioned Qian Dabao was looking for him.

He just got out of Director Qiao's place, and now he's going to Team Leader Qian's place. Today he's going to have a direct confrontation with both of them.

No, I'm determined to change my child's nickname tonight. I can't call him "Bao" anymore, and I'll have to change how I address my wife when we're being intimate.

Sigh, naming things these days is so casual, like cats and dogs, big cows and little sheep, big treasures and second treasures.

"Old Qian, when did you become my captain?" As soon as he arrived at the convoy, Master Bao began to interrogate him.

"I'm the team leader myself, I've been doing this for many years, and you're only finding out now?" Old Qian particularly disliked the arrogant attitude of these drivers and retorted directly.

"I'm too lazy to talk to you. Just tell me what you want, and you say it's related to my salary. Do you need me to sign off on a raise? Hurry up, I need to walk back today," Master Bao said impatiently.

The reason I came here was because I heard it was related to salary. Their positions are set up in the fleet, so promotions require the signatures and stamps of the fleet and the transportation department.

"What are you thinking? Here's the thing, we heard your car broke down and won't be working for the next few days. According to our fleet's rules, we can't leave you idle while your car is broken down, so we've found you a job. Starting tomorrow, you'll be working with a truck on a trip to Inner Mongolia."

They're short-staffed over there, so be prepared, pack your clothes, it'll take about two weeks round trip."

Old Qian glared at him, his eyes flashing with a fierce light, almost scaring Master Bao.

He already disliked chauffeurs, and now that he'd heard that his son's job quota had been taken away by Director Qiao, it was no wonder he wouldn't give Old Qiao's driver a friendly look.

"No, Old Qian, let's not even talk about how I'm not under your jurisdiction, and what I do is none of your business. But who told you the car couldn't be fixed in a short time? Changing the tires and fixing the brakes can be done tomorrow."

Since it concerned his own vital interests, Master Bao argued his case forcefully. If he didn't fight for it, he would be sent directly to Inner Mongolia to live among cattle and sheep.

"Huang Shu said that your car won't be repaired in a short time."

Besides, who said you're not under my jurisdiction? As long as you're a driver and are driving, you're all under the management of my fleet. Just because I didn't manage you before doesn't mean I can't. Don't be so shameless.

"Go back and pack your things quickly. Our convoy will set off early tomorrow morning at 4:00 AM, when it will be cooler." Old Qian said confidently.

"Also, I'm passing on Section Chief Xu's warning to you. He said if you don't come or are late, you can pack your bags and get out of the Transportation Section. If you're capable, get another department to take you in; otherwise, you'd better behave yourself." Old Qian imitated Xu Damao's words.

"Old Qian, did Xu Damao really say this? No, I didn't offend him, why is he doing this to me?" Master Bao was a little confused. He and Xu Damao didn't have any dealings, so why was the other party suddenly giving him such a large sum of money?

"Old Qian, you're still too green. Tell me, did Section Chief Xu offend Director Qiao? How did he end up in the Transportation Department? Did our Dispatch Department offend the Political Department? Why didn't we submit the plan?"

"There are many things in this world that you can't judge by appearances; you have to see through the phenomena to the essence." Seeing that Master Bao seemed to be backing down, Old Qian felt a little pleased and began to lecture him.

"Not bad, Lao Qian, you've got a good talking point, your skills have improved a lot. It seems that you're not just a team leader because of your age," Master Bao teased.

Actually, Lao Qian doesn't have that skill. He asked Xu Damao, and Xu Damao told him all this. Now he's just copying it verbatim. And surprisingly, it works quite well, leaving Master Bao completely dumbfounded.

After hearing what Old Qian said, Master Bao finally understood how he had been framed. It wasn't his fault; he'd been caught in the crossfire. But there was nowhere to seek justice.

I'm still part of the transportation department, no matter where I go. If they really start managing me, there's not much I can do. Like Lao Qian just said, if I went to another department, I wouldn't be managed, but then I wouldn't be considered a driver anymore.

As for whether or not to go to the leaders, Master Bao was self-aware. Why was he the only one among the three drivers to be assigned this task? It was because others were under the command of the top two leaders, so Xu Damao could only target him, the easy target. If he went to Factory Director Qiao, he probably wouldn't help him get revenge for this matter.

Forget it, with two sides fighting, I'm too small to be easily caught in the crossfire. Going out and hiding might not be a bad thing.

“Okay, I’ll come over first thing tomorrow morning. But, Lao Qian, you’re in your forties, you should know the consequences of what you’re doing. Aren’t you afraid of what’s going on over there?” After making his decision, Master Bao felt relieved.

"Heh, I'm about to retire, why would I care about that? Can he promote me or fire me? I'm not afraid of him at all." Old Qian felt incredibly brave now. In this day and age, as long as he didn't make any political mistakes, no one could easily deal with him.

"Hehe, then I'll just wait and see how it goes." Master Bao wasn't intimidated.
