Chapter 24: Thoughts (1)

When Ruan Qingqing called, Chen Muyun was leaning on the sofa and Ruan Qingling was feeding him fruit.

In the past, even when he was doing it with Ruan Qingqing, he would push people away to answer the phone. But today he didn't want to answer it.

Maybe at this moment, I feel too relaxed and comfortable. So he didn't want to face Ruan Qingqing.

He thought that if there was an emergency, Ruan Qingqing would definitely call again or send a text message. There is nothing now, so it should be fine.

Ruan Qingling glanced quickly and saw the name jumping on the screen. A quick smile flashed across the corner of her mouth.

She lay in his arms and looked up at him: "Mu Yun, I have to go, otherwise I will miss the last bus."

Chen Muyun stood up: "Then I'll take you there."

Ruan Qingling held him back: "No, you still have to go to work tomorrow, I want you to have a good rest. Besides, I don't want to be at the station and watch us part. I can't stand it."

A thought suddenly flashed through Chen Muyun's mind: When had Ruan Qingqing ever been so tender and dependent on him?

He picked up his coat: "I said I'd give it to you, let's go."

Ruan Qingling followed behind him: "Oh..."

As a result, when they arrived at the station, Chen Muyun parked the car and walked her to the car. She started crying, holding his hand and refusing to let go or get on the car.

Chen Muyun felt amused and distressed. After coaxing her for a long time, she still had red eyes and looked aggrieved.

Finally she said, "I'm not going back! It's okay to skip class tomorrow. I want to go home with you."

Chen Muyun was shaken, but still persuaded: "I have to work a whole day tomorrow, and I have to accompany... I can't accompany you."

Ruan Qingling hugged his waist and couldn't hear anything.

The driver and the conductor began to urge the passengers to get on the bus.

Chen Muyun sighed and said, "Okay, okay, I'll drive you to Xiangcheng."

Ruan Qingling looked up: "Really?" Her face was full of surprise and disbelief.

However, Chen Muyun just felt that his heart was made sticky by her, which was a feeling that Ruan Qingqing had never given him before.

He pinched Ruan Qingling's face and said, "This couldn't be more true. Let's go. We won't take the bus. I'll go to Xiangcheng to stay with you for one night and then drive back to work early tomorrow morning."

——

While Chen Muyun's car was speeding on the highway, Ruan Qingqing was sitting on the steps by the river, looking at the lights on both sides of the river.

She took out her cell phone and found that Chen Muyun did not return her call or text message, so she put the phone back in her pocket.

On the river bank not far away, there were a few half-grown children playing in the water. One or two of them were not afraid of the cold and took off their clothes to soak in the water.

When the children screamed, Ruan Qingqing realized something was wrong. She stood up and looked, and vaguely saw a head floating in the water about fifty or sixty meters away from the shore, appearing and disappearing from time to time. The other children by the river were shouting for help, at a loss as to what to do.

It was dinner time, and this section of the river bank was remote. There were only three or two people standing on the distant riverbank, and no one noticed this side.

Ruan Qingqing immediately ran over, took off her coat and threw it on the ground, rushed into the water, and swam towards the child with all her strength.

The cold river water soaked into my mouth, nose and ears. The water surface was rippling. The view in front was blurry. I could vaguely see the head. The voices of the children behind me were chaotic and looming.

Ruan Qingqing swam closer and closer, and suddenly she heard a "splash" sound of water behind her, but she didn't pay attention to it.

Finally, she swam to the drowning child. His face was pale and his eyes were terrified, and he was about to sink.

Ruan Qingqing swam behind him and tightened her arms around him, causing the child to struggle violently. The child was about ten years old and very strong. He dragged her into the water. Ruan Qingqing choked on the water and almost couldn't breathe. She became furious and held on to him tightly, swimming towards the shore.

The water was flowing very fast and Ruan Qingqing swam with difficulty as if she was holding a thousand-pound weight. After swimming about thirty meters, she had exhausted all her strength. But there was no way she would give up, she just kept slowing down.

The water surface was turbulent and someone swam towards us with great force. The sky was dark and the water was bumpy. His body moved towards her and his strong arm held her waist.

Ruan Qingqing was stunned when she saw the stern face. Water flowed down his hair, nose, and neck. His eyes were as cold as stars.

Ruan Qingqing's breathing stagnated.

"Let go, I'll do it!" Luo Pingjiang growled, let go of her waist and took the child. The terrified child immediately wrapped around him like an octopus, but he didn't care and wasn't shaken at all.

"Follow me! If you can't swim, grab my clothes!" he said.

Ruan Qingqing: "I can swim!"

The two swam towards the shore together. Ruan Qingqing noticed that he was holding the child with his intact arm, and with the other arm he could only gently paddle in the water, relying mainly on his legs to push the water. But with just one push, he was able to swim farther than Ruan Qingqing could when she swam at her full speed.

Finally, they swam to the shore. Ruan Qingqing was exhausted and sat down on the ground.

The other children and passers-by who heard the news ran over and surrounded them. Luo Pingjiang held the child in one arm, his clothes were soaked, he took a few quick breaths, glanced at Ruan Qingqing, and knelt down on one knee.

The drowned child was still conscious, but his face was pale and he looked very weak. Luo Pingjiang performed a series of actions in one go. He placed the child on his knees with his back facing up, cleaned the child's mouth first to get out some debris, and then patted the child several times. The child vomited several times, but his breathing slowed down.

At this time, a few parents finally arrived after hearing the news, and the other children playing in the water lowered their heads like quails in fear.

One of the parents turned pale with fright when he saw his child drowning, and he took the child from Luo Pingjiang while crying.

Some of the onlookers said: "It was him and this girl who rescued your child. They are good people. They saved your life. Thank them very much!"

The parents thanked them repeatedly.

Luo Pingjiang said: "It should be okay. It's best to take the child to the hospital again." He then turned to look at Ruan Qingqing. She had stood up and put on the coat she had taken off earlier, wrapping herself tightly, but her face was still pale from the cold.

Luo Pingjiang also picked up the coat he had thrown away earlier, held it in his hand without wearing it, and pulled her arm: "Let's go."

Ruan Qingqing was stunned. He had already pulled her out of the crowd. She quickly pulled her hand back and asked, "Where are we going?"

Luo Pingjiang unfolded his men's coat, wrapped her tightly, and said, "Let's go to my shop, it's just a few steps away, take a hot bath and change clothes immediately. You had a fever yesterday, and today you jumped into the river, this is not a joke."

Only then did Ruan Qingqing notice that his shop was not far away by the river.

No wonder I met him here.

Ruan Qingqing stood still: "No, really no, I'll take a taxi back, it'll be quick too."

Then he took off his coat and handed it to him: "Wear it yourself, don't catch a cold."

"I won't catch a cold even if someone does." Luo Pingjiang lost his casual and gentle look, his face was a little cold, "You want to go to the roadside to hail a taxi in the wind like this? People may not let you get in the car. What if you get pneumonia? Ruan Qingqing, come with me, I won't do anything to you!"

Ruan Qingqing was speechless for a moment.
